“too many stories of people being catfished or stung for money after”
The tale in that link reminded me that one of the other things to watch out for in (particularly) Asian online chatting / dating is the ladyboy phenomenon. Now, I have seen pictures of my friend with ‘her’ kids, in numerous locations and across a few years, but they COULD be ‘her’ brothers and sisters. And ‘she’ does have a slightly deep voice, and being a Kinks fan Lola is etched in my mind

This afternoon we got more snow and i got my walk in a blizzard. Small things.
Make sure you don’t get lost in a blizzard – this place just wouldn’t be the same.
I once got lost in a blizzard in Vienna – had a scary 20 minutes until I found out I had just been going down a long street in the wrong direction.

If you have a virtual lunch do you order something you like, have never tried before, or go all out and get something you are normally allergic to?
Do you have to complain about crappy service?
Do you have to ask repeatedly for someone to pass the friggin’ salt?
Does price matter in your decision?
And even more importantly (and not meaning to be rude but no doubt will be) what is the point?

^ in some simulation games you have to have your character eat so they don’t starve and die like the game lif on the computer.

What, trcanberra is playing a game with this lady which involves reality dinner? Not sure if that would be sweet or not?
Well it depends on the food, if they have virtual Angel food cake then it will be sweet.

Haha – I didn’t have to complain about the service luckily, and the meal was cheap
My friend in Hong Kong is a very busy domestic worker so it is hard to find time to chat, and I don’t want to impact (too much) on what limited free time she has. Yesterday she decided to get out of the house she works in and have lunch at a restaurant – so she turned her phone webcam on and we had a nice chat as she showed me around her part of HK on the way to eat. We then had the ‘virtual’ bit which was imagining I was there as we discussed what to order and both had tea at our respective ends while we waited for the meal. I then let her eat in peace – watching her eat would have been too ‘Policey’ if you saw that post!

Today’s VL was beef teriyaki – looked very nice.
My total inability to understand the females of the species continues unabated (as it does for most men I imagine). I mean, I am okay with the whole “let’s not rush things” approach. So there we are, mid video chat, when Charming Hong Kong Lady asks me when I could come and visit her, and ‘is tomorrow too soon?’ Then laughs at my flabbergasted expression. Then changes the subject.
Keeping me on my toes, I’ll give her that.

Sigh – unfortunately you may have to.
Anyway, I’ll sleep on it.
Sigh again. Maybe this is just that bit in rom-coms where folks have the unfortunate misunderstanding and it all works out in the end, or maybe it’s not a rom-com after all.
[EDIT] At least I had the best week I have had in the last 5 years, one small consolation.
