@trcanberra, iTunes only rearranges if its connected to their cloud – and its a right pain in the backside. Deleting the song from the cloud usually fixes it as you are removing the connection however i cannot get ‘Wings Over America ‘ to not be the first 28 tracks of another folder no matter what i do and its a right nuisance. I’m trying not to buy music in iTunes nowadays as its getting more and more crap but i had a voucher.
We have HEAVY SNOW.
On the one day its not meant to snow. Great forecasting.

Glad you got your snow, mmm. I enjoy long walks while it’s snowing – so does my dog. However, as someone who drives 60 miles one way to work, I am incredibly happy that we have had no snow so far this winter.
When I lived in Maine, we would loose power if someone so much as sneezed too hard. I then went out and bought a generator. We never lost power again during the last 3 years I lived there. This year, I bought a new snowblower and I just bought a new car that has all wheel drive. That probably means it will never snow again where I now live.
To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

Convenient yes, but it’s not a very great library. I can find a half-dozen identical Russell Brand bios yet not a single one of Beethoven
If only you worked there, Ahhh Girl, I’m sure it’d be much better!
@Von Bontee and @vonbontee, have you ever used the “hold” function of the Toronto Public Library? You can request books to be sent to the branch by your bus stop. http://www.torontopubliclibrar…..ing-holds/
Here’s a list of Beethoven biographies held by TPL. http://www.torontopubliclibrar…..+beethoven
Here’s a book from that list. We have this book at my library.

I hope this helps.

Hmm, so, this nice lady from Hong Kong that I am SO not interested in …
Latest Plot Twist – my soon-to-be-ex has been painting her new place (she is staying at our ‘investment’ property while we continue to try and sell it) and so has been sleeping in my daughter’s old bedroom at my place (daughter long since moved out). So, she catches me switching screens to avoid her seeing who I was NOT chatting to!! Being female she immediately realises what I am up to (how does that work?) and demands to see some pictures. Well, okay, I may have one or two (or maybe more); I figure – what the heck – and show her. And get her seal of approval – go figure
Turns out my soon-to-be-ex was actually going to try to set me up with her widowed best friend – how weird is that? I’m sure there is a film script somewhere in all of this – a rom-com that no one will believe.
I have no idea if this will lead anywhere but it has been the best week I have had in years – whatever the future brings.

Although I’ve done nowhere near as much organizing as MMM, iTunes has never reorganized anything I’ve changed.
I stopped updating it at 11 though, I’ve done none of the .# updates. Maybe it has to do with that.

Ooh – you have me pegged. I’m glad my son is the only one around at the moment as I feel silly grinning to myself all the time.

Possibly. The rule of thumb is that with every update and advance iTunes and Apple gets a little bit more rubbish.

Ahhh Girl, thank you for compiling all that library data – you must be truly excellent at your job!
I know that I can request that a book from one branch of the library be transferred to another – I’ve done it in the past, and I’ll probably do it again someday when I get ambitious enough, or desperate enough to get ahold of a certain book. But it’d be nice if I could just WALK IN and find more variety on the shelves, y’know – do they really need FIVE copies of the same William Shatner or Lady Gaga or Simon Cowell book?? It’s as disheartening as walking into a modern-day record store!
(Incidentally, I don’t actually live in Toronto but in Brampton, part of the Greater Toronto area but not part of the city proper. I’m not sure if I’d be entitled to borrow books from the Toronto library system without one of their cards. I know the Brampton system has several Beethoven bios I may request, one of these days.)
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Ah, I see. Ask one of the librarians at your branch if the library system works on the principle of a floating collection. In other words, wherever the book is returned is where it stays until it is requested elsewhere.
Here’s the little sneak that I am. Request some of those copies of books that have multiple copies to go to other branches so that there is more shelf space at your branch for other books. Request the books you want and return them to your branch. They might stay there for a while at least.
Depending on how much you read and are able to visit a library in Toronto:
Non-Residents and Visitors
If you don’t meet the criteria for a free library card, you can get a temporary non-resident card valid for 3 months. To obtain or renew a non-resident card, you must:
Visit a library branch in person to register
Pay a fee of $30.00
Show the required identification
10 bucks a month for a load of entertainment options. Not to bad if it is convenient for you to get one of their branches.

My Dog’s life is almost at an end. Has gotten to the point where the pain is getting too much when moving about and too often he just isn’t happy or himself and gets distressed. Very very sad. 12 years old he is. It is a battle going thru the whole “are we doing the right thing?” but it wouldnt be fair on him dragging it out to the point where the only thing keeping him going is medication. He used to be so eager to go for walks now its a hassle and a burden for him.
A very crappy start to the year.

I’m so sorry, MMM. I had to have my very first cat put to sleep just 4 years ago (she was 17), and it was one of the saddest moments of my life. But you’re right not to let him suffer. 12 years is a good run, and I know he’s been well-loved.

mmm, that decision is so hard to make. The memory of having him put down will haunt you for years to come. But, you would kick yourself really, really hard for years to come if you don’t end his pain. Hugs my friend.

That’s horrible, MMM. About a year and a half ago my cat got sick suddenly and died naturally. It was terrible, but it must be very difficult to decide whether or not to put down an animal.
I hope he doesn’t have to suffer, whatever you choose to do for now.

@Ahhh Girl, i’m haunted by the memory of leaving one of our cats far too late tho the memory of taking it up and leaving her is just as haunting. Its what makes me not want to keep Dog going way past the point of a happy life. He wouldnt deserve that.
Quite simply there is no easy or correct answer and quite simply it would be amiss if there was. Thanks all for the messages.
