My internet finally got fixed by a repairman about 15 minutes ago after it has been down since Sunday and intermittent for the past month. Thats why I havent been online in a while. My ISP kept sending technicians to a town 2 hours from here and their tech support people were not that helpful. Anyways, Christmas was actually pretty good and I got a Fender Mustang II amp which is really awesome.
Look its a thingy! A fiendish thingy!

I feel quite optimistic about 2015 and i have no idea why, nothing suggests anything good is going to happen. First time i’ve felt this way in about 7 years.

I’m about to go on a tour of the Gibson guitar factory in Memphis. I’m in the factory store right now. Our guitar people would be drooling if they were with me right now. I will post pictures later today.
Yes, they have left-handed guitars.

I feel the same. Maybe not immediately so, but it should be a great year…
Attitude is everything anyway!

NYE was alright. Won 5 euros in the lottery. Hurrah. Ate too many Dutch Doughnuts. And now all the Christmas stuff is gone and the house looks so empty. And I have to work on papers and projects and January is such a boring month.
This Christmas break was great though.
I will be getting my son ready for college this month, at least as ready as he can be at his age
The ACT is the only part of Australia that has a separate ‘school’ for the year 11 and 12 students – so they get to start acting as adults and taking some responsibility for themselves rather than being pretty much spoon-fed up to year 10. It will be interesting to see how he manages, both of the girls really took to it but he is a lot more laid-back than they were at the same age (16).
My middle ‘child’ (20) is in China with some friends and will spend 11 days in Bangkok by herself on the way back – she said she wanted an independent adventure. We have booked her into her own room in what seems to be a nice hostel and I helped a little putting an itinerary together. I didn’t know she would follow my footsteps; I went to Europe on my own at 19 and stayed in Kuala Lumpur for a period on the way over, then in Copenhagen.

Internet issues for the last 24 hours. Connection keeps cutting out so i can get on a site for about 5 minutes before it goes off. Cant even get on some places like email as it takes an age to load before dying and bringing up an error message. I think its the weather.

Maybe they are taking their lead from the buses – you can’t get on those either

It’s been legitimately cold at night in LA, and a friend was kind enough to lend me her space heater tower because my itty bitty one wasn’t enough to heat up a whole room.

We have the opposite here just now of course – in the middle of a very oppressive heat wave and lots of bush fires in 3 states. Just went to buy some cold beer for the first time this season

What’s your son going to study?
Woah, that’s very cool! I hope she’s alright. What will she be doing there? Just travelling and sightseeing?
One of my best friends spent a year in China, she studied there (but she’s chinese so it was a lot easier for her obviously) and two other friends spent a year in Norway (not together, they don’t know each other) and some of my old classmates have gone to other countries too, for internships, or minors, or to do some kind of education before they went to uni. It’s very interesting and it appeals to me, but I would want to go to a country where I can speak either English or Dutch. So that would leave America (which is pretty much impossible because you need to have 10.000 euros ready), the UK (no interesting internships except this boarding school for autistic children in..Ipswich I think, but it looked pretty boring there), Belgium (meh) or Suriname. So I’ll look again by the time I have to pick a Minor.
