I’ve been coughing and spluttering, shivering and shaking since yesterday afternoon. Feeling total crap.
Don’t get paid until tomorrow, which means I’ve got to face the shops on Christmas Eve!
Until I started feeling crap, my original idea was to go to the Supermarket just after midnight, hoping – while it would probably still be busy – I’d miss the worst. Don’t think I have the energy to traipse all the way into Orpington though. So that means braving the M&S over the road tomorrow. I am so looking forward to that.
One good thing yesterday, I finally got Windows activated on my new laptop, which means I can finally get onto the internet with it. I will buy a data pack tomorrow and start downloading the necessary programs, so that I can close this struggling laptop for the last time (it’s only been being used for internet), and switch to the new laptop within the next day or two!
WooHoo!

Get well soon, @Ron Nasty – there seems to be a lot of bugs going around. Several people I know are ill as well. Best of luck with your last minute shopping.

Well, this is Nasty, typing at you, with me fingers, on me new laptop.
Most of the basics are up and running, though still much more to put in place.
One thing I found amusing – I’m using a brand new Vodafone account, and I haven’t taken “content control” off yet. Haven’t had the time. “Content Control” is currently blocking my access to You know you’re a hardcore Beatles fan when… It made me chuckle.
Thanks all for the good wishes on my health. Feeling better than yesterday. Actually, didn’t really feel much yesterday. I mostly slept.
Less coughy today, more sneezy, more awake. It’s just a case of letting take its course.

So how were all your Christmasses?
Mine was good. There was a pleasant atmosphere, I ate too much (drank too much too..) and the next day was pretty much the same. Hope you all had a good one!
Oh and something awkward happened. Apparently a friend of mine has a crush on me, and he told everyone except me. He hinted at it at a party we were both at recently, but I was convinced it was a joke, with all the booze in his system. But now my brother, who is friends with this girl, who is friends with my friend, comes up to me to tell me that the girl told him my friend keeps on going on about me to her and his and her friends. This is so weird. I’m flattered and a bit embarrassed too. And a bit annoyed, because now next time I see him it will feel a bit weird (he often picks me up with his scooter when I go visit him or our friends and when you’re on a scooter you have to hold on tight, of course). I don’t know, all of this feels a bit middle school (no offence), lol.

Not many people to interact with here on the Forum these days, not many new posts; I miss that. The season festivities and the flu are to blame I suppose. I guess you will all come back in January. Aside from that, sketching abstract drawings for my first oil paintings and having some fun with friends. Happy New Year everyone, and get better! Oudis.

I know it’s a bit late, but I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas. I certainly did!
About 90% of my presents were Beatle-related. My brother had drawn a life-size person on a big piece of cardboard and added a picture of Paul’s face, which I thought was really awesome.
I also went to the Beatles museum in Alkmaar! That was really cool. The guy who runs it had collected so many Beatle things over many years. He has also written 62 books about The Beatles. He had a whole wall of bootlegs. He also had multiple copies of the original yesterday and today cover and a really rare promo poster of yesterday and today of which there are only 5 in the world!
Afterwards I understood why the entrance fee was so little, I bought lots and lots of memorabilia. A cup with the cover of Help , posters, books and some other stuff.
Overall these past few days have been awesome!

I got really bad sunburn on Christmas day. The one downside to having Christmas when it’s hot and sunny!
Managed to avoid that thank goodness.
Hope everyone’s flu and infections vanish for the New Year.

Great to hear that the season has been going well for most folks here.
I survived. No gifts to speak of as we had decided to stop that stuff due to financial issues, but of course I bought my son a couple of video games. Dinner with the kids (my two girls and their partners, son) was going well until you-know-who showed up late and in a foul mood – I went to bed early to get away from the drivel that was being spouted in my direction. I look forward to next year being more pleasant.
I wonder what it is about getting older that turns many people from vibrant and pleasant souls into angry and spiteful shadows of their former selves?

Today I went to the Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum. http://www.memphisrocknsoul.org/
Here are the Beatles-related things I saw in the museum.
The Beatles with the Bill Black Combo (the members in 1964).
This was part of the timeline of Rock ‘N’ Roll history.
The Beatles are mentioned in this introduction to the Rock ‘N’ Roll timeline (When did we first rock?)
Non-Beatley things that I thought some of you might like.
A very early Rickenbacker electric guitar.
Is July 5, 1954 the birthdate of Rock ‘N’ Roll ?
In a cool record shop on Beale Street I found this picture for @Mr. Kite.
