Anyone affected by the US snow? How’s it been?

It snowed on a couple of days a week or two ago.  We got less than half an inch (1 inch = 2.54 centimeters).  It’s all melted by now.

Hang in there, tr.

Are you having a hot summer so far this year?

We have had a few very hot days here and there – 100F today, then will cool a little before the next batch.  I am mirroring mmm – where he is hating the cold I find I am disliking the heat more and more.  If and when I ever recover financially I will be hoping to move to a cooler clime.

Gonna get a bit of Christmas shopping out of the way today.  Plus most of my family insisted on being born in December so gotta get them stuff too.  My aunts who are twins are turning 60!  One of them is like a second mom to me (was my nanny growing up) so it’s pretty special.  heart

I’ll take your heat. Far better being too warm than too cold.

Maybe we should house swap.

Sounds like a plan!

Then again, I said cooler – not frigid :)

I’m thinking of Hobart maybe, or the southern UK if I can swing the finances one day.

Ohh, and February

And half of Marcha-hard-days-night-paul-7

Aside from then its mildy warm right thru – aside from the 14 days in summer…

which are non-consecutive.

But its a wonderful country.

So sorry to hear about your pets. Losing them is so hard. Loads of hugs and heart to you.

Hope you get to feeling better soon. Here are some tissues for your runny nose.

Sorry to hear about your pets. That, plus you not feeling well must be a terrible combination. Take good care of yourself and here’s another virtual hugheart

I mentioned on here yonks ago that my band was going to record and release a single. Yeahhhhh that hasn’t happened. Our guitarist went AWOL and we decided our drummer couldn’t sing well enough (he didn’t take offence). Yesterday we jammed out some songs with a new guitarist and vocalist! Pure magic. We went through four originals (one from each member of the band which is cool), Creep by Radiohead, Babe I’m Gonna Leave You by Led Zep and next time I think we’re going to attempt some Beatles. It’s hard to find something that can be done with one guitar, bass, drums and vocals when most songs involve two guitars or a keyboard :/

When we get something recorded I’ll post it here because I think you guys as Beatlemaniacs might enjoy our music as it’s heavily influenced by bands like the Beatles, Rolling Stones, the Who and also some heavier stuff like Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. Classic rock all the way!

Oh and I have finished studying at university level (college for some of you). Whooooooooooooooooooo!

@nzbeatlefan Congrats on all of that! a-hard-days-night-ringo-10ahdn_ringo_09

You must be glad to have school over with! Good luck with the recording! I’ll have to go back and find that first post.

How are you going about releasing it? That stuff interests me because its something I want to do when I find some good people to work with.

If I spoke prose you'd all find out, I don't know what I talk about.

Can buy Joe love!

Hi again everybody. I’ve finished making my first canvas –imprimatura and all. It was much cheaper than buying it already made (probably in China) at the store, and it’s of a much higher quality. I’ll wait until I have a good painting in mind to use it. In the meantime I’m learning how to glue canvas (the piece of cloth I mean) to a piece of cardboard, not to a wooden frame, to make them cheaper. I guess I will work on that during the next three months and by the end of February I’ll have at least ten canvasses on cardboard, which I’ll use to try my hand at painting. So far I’ve only used pencils, oil pastels, and crayons on paper. So finally using oil paints will be like “graduating” as an artist. I’m a bit nervous though, I don’t know how shaky my first strokes with the brush will be. Aside from that I’m still broke, and waiting for a tenant for my house. Thanks for reading, Oudis.

Go for it Oudis!!  My daughters both paint and it is great to see their work develop.

Thanks @Mr. Kite and @Oudis.

We’re going to release it on websites like Bandcamp, Reverbnation and Soundcloud. We would like to put it on iTunes and Amazon, but its pretty expensive as we aren’t signed to a label that can help us out in that aspect. Oh well. We’re gonna stay away from putting our stuff on YouTube, just music videos and an occasional live performance maybe.

Congrats on finishing the canvas, @Oudis. And like you said, plan out a good painting before you use it.

Also, since you have experience with those drawing mediums already (pencil, crayon, oil pastel), you might like oil bars (sometimes called oil sticks). I like them because you can draw with them like an oil pastel, mix them with regular oil paints, use them with a brush, etc. I haven’t been using them for very long, but I like mine so far. They’re great for applying large areas of color quickly, and each application dries quickly (because some of the oil is substituted with wax to make it into a stick). They also can be used with regular oil painting mediums (linseed oil, stand oil, turpentine, etc.) to achieve any desired affects. Anyway, this is what they look like:

And good luck with your canvases/paintings. a-hard-days-night-ringo-10
