It’s my birthday on March 3 and I’ll be 35. Five years and I’ll be 40 like John. I feel strange about that. But whatever. It is what it is.

Ahhh Mom fell yesterday and fractured a bone in her hip area. We are waiting to see when she will have surgery. She is supposed to have back surgery in 10 days. I don’t know if that surgery is going to get to happen or not.

She isn’t doing very well. The doctor says she has ICU psychosis for one thing. She drifts between reality and confusion.
Any movement of her legs and feet cause her to scream out in pain.
Looks like I am going to be with her for many weeks. Thankfully, even if I go into leave-without-pay status, it won’t harm my retirement date. I have a feeling I may be giving her care from here on out. She will probably have to come live with us.
I’ll check on the Forum when mom is sleeping, and I’m awake enough to be online. I’ve slept about 10 minutes in the past 32 hours.

RubeI've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Thank you, @QuarryMan.
Ahhh Mom is still in a lot of pain, but she is doing her therapy sessions and getting stronger each day. Her hospital discharge date is March 28th (this coming Thursday). We are getting her house set up with medical equipment she will need.
As soon as she has reasonably healed from this surgery, she will get her back surgery. That will probably be in July or August.

Finally, a fresh new coat of paint for my profile. I swear, it’s been the same ol’ thing for so long, and it needed a change.
Am I too old for SpongeBob? No. Nobody is.
Also, glad to hear Ahhh Mom is doing better, @Ahhh Girl!

I’m going back to Ahhh Mom’s house for the last two weeks of May. She has an appointment with the spine surgeon. I hope he says he will do the surgery on her. She will wait until July when I can be there with her longer. I have to come back to work in June to train my replacement. RETIREMENT here I come!
In other news…
Before and after photos. I had the idea of wrapping the end caps at my library in vinyl. We are styling! A student said the shelves are no longer drab and depressing.
We went from DRAB to FAB!!!

I’d have to find the exact quote but there’s something John said that really resonates with me now. I’m not interested in the younger generation or appealing to them, but instead focus on the age group I grew up with, and the journey we went on. The reality of getting older I suppose, but indeed, that feeling clicked in hard recently.

Outside and away from work I am trying to find things to do until the Euros start on the 14th June (with Scotland playing hosts Germany in the first match). The sun has been shining which is nice.
Went to see the new Garfield film on Sunday; really like the cartoon strip, hated the new film.

The spine surgeon threw us a curve ball. He won’t do the surgery now. He says she has to get it done by the specialists at Vanderbilt University. Now we have to get everything set up with them.

Y’all check out my new ride!
It’s a 1998 Volvo S70 GLT, and it’s in very good condition for its age. I got for basically a steal because it has what my dad identified as a fairly easily fixable issue that was scaring off the faint of heart buyers. This is the fifth Volvo we’ve owned (currently we have three), so we kinda know what we’re doing
I’m kind of dotty about it. It’s my first car and I haven’t been able to shut up about it since Saturday when I got it.
I look forward to many happy hours of driving it around blasting all my favorite music
Beep-beep’m beep-beep’m YEAHHHHHHH!!!!
