ARRGH stupid impacted-earwax blockage messing up my hearing – how am I supposed to listen to the Beatles (or anybody!) thru headphones when my right ear is barely functioning?! This happens every several months or so, usually takes care of itself; if it doesn’t I’ll see a medical specialist to drain it out. But it’s still very annoying.
I had that problem once – it was awful. It did clear itself out after a while and I realized it when I was listening to “Echoes” and I realized I could hear the mad snare in the left channel during the funky section!!! Ever since then I’ve cleaned out my ears religiously after showers and it hasn’t happened since, fingers crossed…
anyway, hang in there

It happens to me badly enough every couple of years or so that I can’t clear it with glycerine drops, however clean my precious ears are daily kept. Invariably, it’s always the right one that gets blocked, never the left (not that I have a favourite.) Anyways, got an appointment tomorrow aft for a nurse to get it flushed out.

There’s a dry treatment you can get from an audiologist that’s supposed to be less likely to cause a relapse. The use a little vacuum thing.

Yeah, I had it done that way one time years ago, found it mildly painful but it certainly worked. I prefer the warm water, which is what I had today…all better now!

Made a big change in my life, I’m 12 days sober from all substances. Starting to get back into drinking tea. Since I save so much money not buying beer and drugs I bought myself a nice tea kettle. Trying to get back on my Mountain Bike more, as well as doing my rigorous guitar warmup routine every morning and working through my Chopin book on piano.
I had nearly completed my solo album Paul style but there were a few glitches and bugs (due to my incompetence as a producer) that delayed the release until my computer crashed and I lost most of my files for the project (also due to my incompetence.)
I did an inventory the other night and made a list of around two dozen original tunes I want to take another crack at recording. Some are simple arrangements with piano or acoustic guitar and vocals, some are multitrack jazz funk soul pieces with layers of harmony stacked. Its going to be a big project but I am going to try and time the release with a sobriety milestone and buy myself a custom Nash guitar to commemorate.
Thankfully I did back up my Beatles/Dylan etc sessions so I won’t need to reach out to any of you to recover those files like I had to a couple of years ago.
Lately i’ve been on a major jam band/‘drug band’ kick, including a seeing a run of Phish and the Gorge and Madison Square Garden as well as a music festival in my hometown of Atlanta last weekend.
Beatles have always been there and always will for me, sometimes I let myself forget how much they mean to me as well as all of you.

Keep at it, because it’s worth it. Self improvement can be very hard when you’re feeling low. I find it takes about two weeks to feel progress and create consistent habits. I’m currently jobless and depression hits me hard at times. But I ride my bike about 50 kilometres a day and go for a walk. Music is a big one for me in terms of enjoyment and expressing how I feel internally. I still feel the need to be the best I can be, despite the circumstances.

For varying reasons I have formally requested an extended period of leave from work from the beginning of next month (part paid, the rest not). Will see what they come back with and then I’ll need to plan what I do – I hope to go places, see things, but I will not fly.
If the returning words are no then I am prepared to leave but the initial returns are positive.
I really enjoy what I do, the people we support are fabulous (the only reason I remain), but there are too many uncertain changes upcoming and the work environment is horrendous. Better out at the moment.
And for the first time I didn’t vote. Ultimately the candidates are all abysmal, with little difference between them, and I’m not voting for who’s the slightly better as if that should be acclaimed.

Keep up the progress on your tea journey, @sir walter raleigh ! Ron, Dirk, Stig, and Barry would be proud!
I think the time to go get a job is very well upon me. My assignments are done and now I want to pay for a gym membership as well as do some outings with friends this summer but have very little in the bank. On another note, I would like to ask out a girl from my uni soon (yes, I finally climbed out of that ridiculous Pattie worshipping phase a good while ago and discovered the real world lol) – I’d say things are going well so far, we talk from time to time and have worked on some music together too, so I’m thinking there might be a chance…
And if anyone cares, I will resume my album rankings in the next few days!

The person declined the job offer saying the commute was too long. It is about an hour drive each way.
We have to keep looking, and we we all have to keep doing our part of the work of that position. Ugggg….

Congratulations @sir walter raleigh! Hang in there Sucks about your file losses, but perhaps it wasn’t meant to be and you can approach the strongest songs with a fresh perspective. (Even if that may not the case, try to think of it like that. )
I love myself some tea, although I’m fairly picky and generally tend to stick to black teas and oolong, with the occasional green. What kind of tea do you like best?
Also best wishes for your sabbatical @meanmistermustard
Good luck with the lady @SgtPeppersBulldog! Music is a great start
In my life: I’m finished with the semester, thank heavens. The last few weeks were pretty stressful as I was writing a paper and then getting ready to take finals early because my best friend and I were preparing to take a road trip, and I am also working part-time, and I got sick (I’m slightly suspicious that it was Covid, because, even though I was only really sick for about one day, afterward I was very tired, and I couldn’t taste my tea for a week afterward ) but I made it through. We went to see her favorite band, Nightwish, live in Massachusetts (she had gotten tickets for her birthday last year, and it also sort of doubled as a graduation trip for her). We also did some sightseeing in the town that the concert was in, took a few other stops to see her family in New York, got lost several times, and laughed and cried and generally had a good old time trekking around the Yankeelands. I am very, very thankful to be home, though. American by birth, Southern by the grace of God

yes @Beatlebug I was in NY a couple of weeks ago, and though I’d always been a hater, I had a very good time. Still, glad to be a southerner. As far as the album goes that’s the exact attitude that I’m taking, and overall it’s probably for the best as I was very much not sober in the several year recording process and my organization was just dreadfull. My favorite teas are Rooibos Chai, I also love greens and blacks. Milk And Honey always except in green I don’t put in milk.

My Aldi interview went well today. I was interviewed by a hiring manager. She was lovely and made me feel at ease. She asked me about my knowledge of Aldi as well as questions about customer services. I’m hoping to hear back in less than a week.

Ahhh Mom is having knee replacement surgery on May 2nd. I am thankful that my workplace allows us to use up to 72 hours of our sick leave to take care of family members. I’ll take a vacation day too to make it a full two weeks that I can help her.
Hi @Ahhh Girl, how is Ahhh Mom doing?

Ahhh Mom had a wild reaction to the Versed they gave before the surgery. The surgeon didn’t feel comfortable proceeding with the operation. He said they want to do the operation at a hospital instead of the surgery center. I asked him if he knew when it could be rescheduled, and he has no idea. He usually doesn’t do operations in hospitals so he has to schedule a time slot. It could be a long time, but we are hoping for the best.
So, she is still hurting along with being sad and upset the operation didn’t happen.
