Yeah, Bandcamp is a site for uploading your own stuff @sigh butterfly – much like YouTube.
If only we were all signed! That’d be so cool

Yeah Bandcamp’s like a distributor backing for a do-it-yourself label, you’re your own label! You can be several labels in fact, lots of people do this, they make a name for different projects because they might be different collaborations or genres of music. Bandcamp’s not there to do it all for you but if you do well, they do well so they do encourage you to go out there and get popular. This is hard! I need to make more stuffs! You should all go to penguinmusic.bandcamp.com and err um like it or something!
Also to be more on topic I will mention sad and happy things in my life. The sad thing: my lovely cat Noot died recently, she had unbeknownst to me a congenital heart defect which she just got to the point where it wasn’t just limiting her but beginning to kill her and it wasn’t fair to extend her life in pain. She lived to be 3 years and a week old which frankly was 3 years longer than anyone could expect with such a defect and she was a lovely soul who deserved a peaceful end so I did the right thing for her. The pain of that was only really settled when I got her ashes home and she’s peacefully at rest in a little chinese pot on my kitchen shelf, at home, and that feels right and I can move on. There will be a new kitty in the new year, because cats are my muse and they give me far more than I can ever repay.
Ok the happy, I’m getting healthier and climbing out of the hole from the strokes and associated stuff from the last year or so and 2020 itself in a weird way helped because the world shut up for a while and got out of my way and so I had the space for a few epiphanies about myself mentally and physically and they weren’t always easy but ultimately fruitful. I’m eating better and walking every day and losing weight. At the same time I’m more than ever aware how neurodiverse I am and I’m trying to find someone I can get a diagnosis for spectrum disorder (you can imagine there’s a bit of a backlog right now). It may only be just for the sake of knowing for sure or there may be useful help. I think that facing some of the issues rather than simply coping and avoiding situations might be more possible with a diagnosis.
The other happy is of course the music. And apologies to @The Hole Got Fixed who is still waiting for a couple of tracks I’ve done nothing with but I’m still learning a complicated synth and reconnecting with just playing piano again and I should be finally getting a groovebox to help complete the bleepboxes I want to use and I’ll have to learn THAT and then I want to connect them all up and make silly noises and record my guitars and stuff over the top of them and see where that takes me. I’ve decided that 2021 is the year of making THE EP at least and looking for my sound and a process that takes me out of conventional songwriting.
Ok that’s about it for now

Oh no, that’s terrible news ewe2. Hope you can remember the good times you had, losing a pet is never easy.

Yes, absolutely go and try to get a diagnosis. At the very least it will give you a sense of knowing, and it could easily help you a lot.

Oh god, I’d totally forgotten about them. Now I’ve got a drum kit all working, let me know if you want any drums for that, or anything (that goes for other people too, though I can’t guarantee the timeliness)*
Glad to hear the synth is getting up and running.

It’s always a very difficult decision and horrible situation to be in when it comes to pets and serious ill-health. Ultimately, as with humans, sometimes, as hard as it is, the kindest decision is to have their suffering end. It’s better for them. Been there twice and both times I hated myself and felt so guilty.
I’m therefore glad you have peace now over it @ewe2 as you did do the right thing. The next cat you get will no doubt be a very happy one.
I’m also glad your health is better and hopefully you find the right person for the diagnosis to help you further. Sounds like you’re already going down the right path. Enjoy your Christmas.

Oh, now I get Bandcamp. I think what threw me off was the professional looking album covers. I’m assuming you all designed those “in house” which is pretty amazing in itself. If we had something like this in the sixties, my band might have stayed together for more than a year. It would be fun to put together a Fab Forum greatest hits LP. Maybe each of you with original music could submit two songs for inclusion and then have a cool cover designed (maybe @SgtPeppersBulldog would be interested) .

Yeah, the albums are designed by the musicians (or they get other, more arty people to design them).
Would have been fantastic to see your band record some stuff in the 60s, sb.
A fab forum greatest hits LP could be very interesting… I’d be interested.

Ooh yes! In fact, decide on a title and I might just come up with something in advance!
In terms of music though, I don’t really have anything myself apart from my instrumental college suite that Holey contributed drums on to offer for inclusion. I mean, you can add it if you want but I’ve recently been experimenting with what I have for home recording and have started to feel a little more confident with that, so maybe I’ll have a more conventional song I can really be proud of ready for a Volume 2…

Well, my semester ended on the 11th, and since then I have been kind of a recluse. I’ve only really gone out to hang out 3 times in the last 2 weeks. I’ve mainly been in my house playing the Ukulele, and watching TV, or going to my job. I also picked up a gig driving this guy who is staying in my buddy’s Air BNB to work. I did it on Monday and Tuesday, however, he has been off the last 3 days for Christmas. Christmas has sort of just happened without much excitement. No family get together, however, we are having some cousins stay with us on Sunday.
Also, I got my own Ukulele for Christmas, so no more using Father Shears Campbell’s

I can’t remember what you sent, I did get them into Reaper (which I encourage you to learn, because I’m working with that for everything now), it was just basic guitar tracks wasn’t it and I was supposed to play lead electric triangle or something?

I’d like to see you and @Dark Overlord and @Beatlebug do something, get the meat of it down and I will be happy to contribute some bass and keyboards and help out with mixing but I don’t want to push people into things, I felt I was being a bit McCartney last time out of enthusiasm and worry that it might be inhibiting the shyer members of our forum from joining in.

Yeah some lead electric triangle, and also some lute, glockenspiel and theremin.
Ok ok I’ll have a look at Reaper!

That could be cool. There are also plenty of other peeps other than us 4 that could add more stuff. Anyone interested?
On another note, @Ahhh Girl how are you doing? How’s Ohhh Boy doing? Hope you’re recovering well.

Still sounds like a lung is going to exit my body via my throat and mouth every time I cough. On the bright side, I’m not coughing as often as I was. I’m still tired, and I can’t smell or taste much, but those senses are returning a little at a time.
Ohhh Boy is doing much better than me. His symptoms were milder.
Warm thoughts drifting you way about Noot, @ewe2. There’s a lucky new kitty out there that will become your new pet.

I happily received this set of pots and pans today from the lovely @Ahhh Girl for Christmas:
My previous set were getting a bit battered and tired, and were no longer as non-stick they were meant to be. And she also sent this great book:
Which, given it’s Dylan, Britain, 60s, obviously includes much about The Beatles and their relationships with each other. I’ll comment more over in “What are you reading” once I’ve had the chance to dive in as opposed to a quick glance.
