One of my favourite things is ice cream, especially sundaes!

Surgery is behind me. I’m moving to an apartment on John Lennon ‘s birthday. I may have a temp job lined up soon. Divorce papers will be filed in November.

I’m after some advice, and I wasn’t sure where else to put this.
I am interested in getting in touch with a friend from school, who I haven’t seen or heard from in fifteen years. They have – as far as I can tell – no internet footprint, so I have no way of contacting them directly. I know their family is on Facebook, but they have no idea who I am, so I am reluctant to make contact even though I can think of no other way. I’m concerned they won’t bother passing the message on, it’ll just be ignored etc. Ultimately though I’m worried the friend will be told about it and simply not be interested in speaking to me.
So would you, if you were me, make an effort to reach out to a long-lost friend, or would you just accept that it’s time to move on? To be honest, I think it’s the not knowing that bothers me. In an age where it’s possible to know too much about people you went to school with, this friend seems to be on the other end of the spectrum. For all I know they could be married/divorced with children, living in London/New York/Tokyo. I literally have no idea.

You should reach out to their family, @Tony Japanese ! I’m sure they’ll be very happy to know that an old friend is still looking out for them, and if not you might be able to at least find out where they are in life these days.

The Hole Got Fixed, BeatlebugI've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Send a message and see what happens. The worst outcome is you never hear anything back but at least you’d know and can move on in whatever way and look back knowing that you did do something. Even that small iota does bring some comfort.

Update…visited the apartment for half an hour to check the layout and as a result had severe asthma and allergies. I think there may be mold there. And I’ve already signed a lease.

@Tony Japanese
I’d say just send it…literally. Who knows, something cool could come out of it. If anything you would receive some sort of closure.

I won’t thank you all directly, but I appreciate the advice given.
There have been two thoughts going through my mind – 1. Should I try and make contact and run the risk of a firm rejection/no reply/etc or 2. Should I not do anything and at least be able to convince myself that there is still a chance we can reconnect?
Reader, you will be glad to know I went for option 1.

When you message somebody on fb you’re not friends with, your message goes to their requests and they have to accept it before they can see your message. A lot of people don’t notice these, so if you don’t get a response right away, it might be because of that. I just got a response a couple months ago from a message I sent somebody in 2017.

@Tony Japanese my mother just got a letter from a childhood friend from Vietnam, who now lives in France and found her address through voter registration, and they’ve been talking on the phone aLL dAY… I’d say it’s a good time for reaching out to old friends.
Best of luck getting the apartment un-molded @Expert Textpert.

Uhh hi everyone.
This may come off a lil weird, and it might be a bit of a long shot but here I go anyways.
Almost a couple years ago in high school, I was briefly friends with this girl who was way into Beatles, led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd. However, due to the awkward, anxiety inducing environment of public high school, along with emotional immaturity, it led to me telling her off rather harshly, which I regret, but I never got to apologize.
After a bit of an existential crisis earlier this year, as well as just growing up more in general, I’ve reached out to some peeps from my past that I’ve had no contact with for awhile. This girl doesn’t really have any social media I don’t think, but I do recall her mentioning that she used this website.
Hope I’m not being too vague or intrusive. Don’t really know where else to go with this, just putting it out there, and this seems like the place to put it. Thanks

I’m transferring to another complex. Just waiting for things to be finalized. Hopefully I can still move on the same day.

best of luck finding her @heyheyheybulldog, we have lots of girls (and boys) who like the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd here. (Including me, but I know I am not the one you seek.)

Didn’t have an allergy after visiting. I’ve been switching utilities and filling out forms for various things for like 3 days nonstop now.
