You’ve got to get better, @Beatleva, you are the author of one of my favorite posts of all time. Something to the effect that: “People ask me how I can like the Beatles so much. I say to them, how can you not?”

Mr. Kite, Ahhh Girl, Starr Shine?, UnidentifiedFiendishThingy, Beatleva, StrawberryFieldsForeverI say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.

Thanks. You guys are so sweet.
I’m not sure what the cause is, maybe food-poisoning or just a virus.
I’m already feeling a lot better than yesterday. Yesterday I was still throwing up the whole day, even though my stomach was empty, my mom says it was probably bile… It was also really annoying because I was so thirsty and wanted to drink so badly but everytime I did that I would throw up again.
Today I already drank a whole glass of water without throwing up and I just had some grape-juice so I’m hoping for the best.
I still haven’t eaten anything but drinking is more important for now.
Thanks again!

Get well soon @Beatleva !
The ceremony was fun. First we all gathered in the central hall and it was super crowded. Everyone could get tea or coffee. Then the head of the academy held a speech and told us how we’re intelligent and special and told our parents not to underestimate this certificate because it is seen as an official diploma of the first phase. Then we were directed to class rooms. 3 classes per class room. And then my mentor told us to step forward and said something about us as persons. He had researched the meaning of our first names and explained how that fit our personality. He then told us how he had experienced us as students and how our class was in general. We were then one by one directed to a table, were congratulated by him, got a rose and sat down at the table next to a teacher who gave us the certificate and told us to check if everything was correct. We then had to sign it. The other classes also had their mentor talk about them but each of them did it in a different way. Afterwards the 5 of us took a few selfies and a group pic, and then we went back to the central hall for a drink and some snacks. We left soon, because it was very crowded.
The First Year Certificate consists out of 3 papers: One that declares that you have successfully succeeded your first year with good marks and that you have earned the paper. It also has your full name, date of birth and town on it. It’s in Dutch, but underneath each bit there’s a translation to English. Then there’s one with all your grades for all subjects, and then there’s another one with your grades but that one is entirely in English.
Oh and I just bought a 2 in 1 mini laptop that you can also use as a tablet because you can click the screen from the keyboard. Wonder if it’s as great as the reviews say.

Sounds like a really enjoyable and rewarding event @Linde. Will this certificate give you additional help and benefits you as you advance thru your studies in Social Educational Care? How is the hand-on work side of it going?

Did your momand sister enjoy the ceremony, @Linde? Did you go shopping and grab a bite to eat beforehand as planned?
@Beatleva, we hope to see a post from you soon in the “what are you eating right now” thread, even if it is just crackers and Sprite. That way we will know you are feeling better.

@strawberrryfieldsforever, other than discussing high-minded topics with us on the BB forum, do you have other holiday plans?

Haha, visited my relatives yesterday and today and have this ceremony to attend tomorrow (which has nothing to do with Eid). Eid used to be fun, and is fun, for children who spend the most time with animals, feeding them and taking them on stroll etc. But I am too old for that. We’d also have bbqs at relatives but didnt have it this time due to other arrangements. And tomorrow is the last day until uni starts. Basically I am just enjoying being lazy, to put it succinctly.

I’ve been in a weird mood lately. I really shouldn’t be. Things are going well at school- I’ve been hanging out with popular juniors (this is quite an achievement because I’m only a sophomore) and for once I like all my teachers. You know that feeling when you just feel hollow and lonely even if there isn’t any reason?
We are reading a book about the holocaust in my English class so maybe that has something to do with it
Anyway, I’m self-medicating with Live At The BBC and a bar of chocolate.

Everyday, everyday. There is always a reason. Find that reason and you will find the cause of your sorrow. I am still on that quest.

I haven’t felt like this before. Not for this long of time without having an idea why. I have the same problems and fears I’ve always had (I’m A Loser , have no talent etc) but maybe they are affecting me more now for some reason? Who knows

I’ve felt like that for a while now, but I have my not being very social to blame.
Not to get too off topic, but what book is it? I’m reading Elie Wiesel’s Night in my English class. The subject matter may be depressing, but reading about it is fascinating nonetheless.

@mimi, i have had those kind of thoughts and fears for a long time and only now am i realising how important it is not to entertain them as over time they can break you and stop you from doing and being what you want. Not saying thats whats causing you’re feelings just don’t believe the lies or let them fester.
It’s why what George wrote in ‘Beware Of Darkness ‘ is so pertinent:
Watch out now, take care
Beware of thoughts that linger
Winding up inside your head
The hopelessness around you
In the dead of nightBeware of sadness
It can hit you
It can hurt you
Make you sore and what is more
That is not what you are here for
From wiki “In addition, the lyrics warn against negative thoughts (“thoughts that linger”), since these corrupting influences and negative thoughts can lead to maya, or illusion, which distracts people from the true purpose of life.”.
