I’ve built me a fire pit and a fire. I look forward to the lawsuits after I burn my neighbourhood down.

I’ve been making an attempt to exercise more lately, and luckily we’ve got an elliptical, so all the staying home hasn’t really put a damper on my efforts. Not only is it nice to not be so much of a sedentary blob, but it also gives me another excuse to listen to an unfathomably large amount of Traveling Wilburys.

Same, but instead I have been walking and jogging around my deserted neighborhood Exercising also helps to calm me down and helps me deal with my anxiety. Usually, I’d be swimming laps and weight lifting with my aquatic club, but I can’t really do that now for obvious reasons……

I didn’t know what that was and thought you said you had an “epileptic” so you’ve been busy at home (I don’t know giving them medicine or something).
What is this simulation I live in.

Hmm, that reminds me that the Great Fire of London is credited with helping to end the plague of 1665-6, so…
Not much happening here, just Mom Bontee and myself sheltering in place, keeping in virtual touch with the many loved ones in town, and in the outskirts, and far north. Bits of housework, weekly trip for groceries, reading and looking at our glowing rectangles for entertainment, plus a daily few games of cribbage, during which we drink rye-&-gingers and I keep the Spotified oldies spinning. (Mostly 50s-60s oldies; no Beatles yet because I don’t enjoy her singing along! Gonna play ATMP for her today or tomorrow, though.)
Anyways, not much excitement here, which is fine; drama I don’t need. Stay safe, everyone; and may Krishna smile upon those essential service providers among you.

Me setting Scotland on fire would save Scotland? What’s to lose, tho I only have 199 firelighter left. Send some in the post and I’ll start in a few days if I can find a lighter. There is an advert on my TV right now warning about the dangers of fire. That’s just spooky.
I learned to play cribbage with my grandad as a kid and love the game. Great fun to while away the time as well as being good for brain – all that 2 and 1 is three and 7 and 8 is worth 2(?) and someone then down a 9 for points and you’re sitting there deeply annoyed. If that’s all garbage I haven’t played for years.

I got in a passive-aggressive argument with a friend on Friday and now things are really tense between us. I haven’t texted him or talked to him since, and I’m worried I might’ve blown it. He was acting like an ass, yes, but I was being bitchy right off the bat and being oversensitive. I really don’t want to lose a friend, especially him, but I’m scared to reach out to him because I don’t want to drag it on. I don’t want him to view me as mean, but I also don’t want him to see me as neurotic and obsessive over our small argument. It’s torture, but I think I’ll just wait a few more days to contact him again, to make sure that we’ve both cooled down. It would really suck to lose another friend, especially in times like these, due to me being overly defensive
Anyhoo, not much else is going on in my life, besides the stress of the aforementioned. Just reading and doing chores and listening to music and playing the guitar and all that. I somehow managed to write two decent essays (*pats self on the back*).

I can’t go anywhere which means it’s my house and maybe, if no one notices it, scorching a few people’s garden fences. Not really going to match the Great Fire of London, more the Crappy Scorched Garden of (insert where I live).

Give it a day or two and then reach out apologising, keeping it sincere but light is my advice. But what the heck do I know, my apologies only make it worse.

I think this whole isolation thing is starting to get to me a little, and my social anxiety isn’t really helping. I mean, I do know someone I could talk to for company, but then again, I’m always afraid to reach out. What if he doesn’t want to talk to me? What if he does talk to me, not because he wants to, but only out of pity? Are any of my concerns even valid? Am I missing something else that I should be concerned about instead? I don’t know.

aw WeepyC I think it’s perfectly reasonable to want someone to talk to during these lonesome days. Who knows, your friend may well be feeling the same way. Anyway, there’s only one way to find out.
Today I had a very nice video conference call with a couple of my friends and we played an online drawing-guessing-game and generally had a grand laugh which did us all good (even me, and I’m fairly introverted and could happily stay cooped up at home only exchanging written messages with my friends for weeks on end). Perhaps you need something like that, @WeepingAtlasCedars.
I hope you follow my advice and it serves you well because I ALWAYS GIVE GOOD ADVICE, DAMMIT and I ALWAYS KNOW WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT, especially when I’m PWT!
Seriously, though, Hold On . If Ya Lonely You Can Tawwwwlk to Me (or any of us), you know. I’d (we’d) have you anytime.

Your concerns are certainly valid @WeepingAtlasCedars, you cannot deny or hide your feelings/thoughts/worries, but as said by BeatleBug, all you can do is not or do and go from there. It’s easy to say you’ve got nothing to lose but being one who is often in your position and can take days just to text someone a hello, it’s not.
Social isolation can be very difficult due to the lack of human contact and vast changes in our daily lives and it can really affect people’s mental health. One of the pressing messages made daily in Scotland is to be aware of the negative impact it can have and not be afraid to talk to someone about it. Your friend could be the one to help. All the best.

Thanks much for your advice, @Beatlebug and @meanmistermustard. It means a lot.
I did end up texting him today, and it was nice… while it lasted. There was a bit of waiting in between messages, and he still hasn’t answered the last one, which got me worried. But, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he just got busy, as I know he’s a very nice guy and therefore not really one to be rude on purpose. Overall, I’m glad we did get to talk, though I wish we could talk more often. We’ve got a few things in common, and he does generally make me quite happy.

^As someone who has often had text conversations while busy with things, and then disappeared spontaneously because life got in the way suddenly, I would expect that to be the case.
Anyway, glad it went well.

I’ve embraced self isolation living as I’m an introvert anyway. Listening to music way more as I’m at home all the time, getting up a bit later, and when I go outside for a walk no one is around. Turn off the news and the anxiety is reduced greatly. Float downstream.

I’m in a similar situation to you, WeepyC, with someone from my uni house that I became very close to. We don’t have much in common, but we have the same sense of humour and one of those connections where when something weird happens you make eye contact and know that you’re thinking the same thing without having to say anything. We’ve been messaging everyday since university closed, but even though we get on like a house on fire, it’s never the same via the internet, and feels oddly formal rather than being fun. I don’t know, but it’s been getting me down a bitGod , I can’t wait for this all to be over…

Take the positives and hold on to those. You text him, he replied and it seems to be good. Life comes up and it’s not always possible to reply immediately. Give him time to do what he had to and take it from there.

It’s very rare that I reply to texts immediately. I never turn my read receipts on because people would see what a terrible texter I am. With the read receipts off they just assume I’m busy or don’t check my phone (at least, I hope so). Doesn’t mean I think any less of the person I’m texting 🙂 I’m just lazy
