May I recommend lemon and ginger tea for the sore throat? It always help me whenever I get one. You should be able to get them in any major supermarket.
I usually mix lemon and honey with hot water. It doesn’t taste very good but it works great.

My usual go to for colds or sinus:
Drinks: Orange juice and hot tea/water. I would go with the lemon and honey mix it works fair well and soothes the throat
Gargle salt water cleans out bacteria
Food: I down a bunch of jalapeno poppers. If you don’t have those eat a few jalapenos or something spicy because it will drain your nose/sinus.
Flonase nasal spray works for me, but if they don’t have it where you are or you don’t feel like paying that much Tylenol cold and flu/sinus works.
Take Vicks Vaporub and rub from behind the ears to the throat and chest. Wrap your neck and chest up in towels followed by wrapping yourself up in blankets tightly, don’t move, and fall asleep. They have Vicks Vaporub patch now, but I have not tried them yet. They may work and you can use it an alternative.

I try to start early. As soon as I start to feel the slightest twinges of illness (or before, if family members are sick or I’m having to deal with lots of people), I soak myself in zinc lozenges and vitamin C supplements and continue this treatment until I feel the cold virus has been defeated. It typically shortens the duration and lessens the severity considerably, and if I start early enough, I can sometimes avoid it altogether.

^beforehand I drink tons of orange juice and then when/if I get really sick I usually drink Gatorade because I’m a fiend for hydration when I’m sick. If you have a fever or a sore throat Tylenol is also really effective.

Given mmm’s Scottishness, we must of course name Tylenol by its generic name: glorious glorious Paracetamol.
All hail Paracetamol and a special shout out to Ibuprofen, all top lads.
For a cough, I highly recommend Beechams (the liquid not the tablets), we can’t get them in the Republic so anytime I’m in Northern Ireland, I buy some. Top notch stuff.

Show Thursday was decent. We made a few mistakes and the turnout wasn’t too great, but it had also just snowed here too, so I’m not surprised.
Beatles played in front of 18 people (or so, I forget which). Numbers are great when large but put on a good show and word will get round.
Back from the football where Aberdeen won (yippee) and have a film on TV where a plane has crashed and all the survivors are being eaten by a tribe. That’s the storyline – plane crashes, folk get nicely roasted over an open fire before sliced, diced and devoured by hungry cannibals. Lovely.

That sort of sounds like the plot from the winner of the inaugural Golden Raspberries, the 1980 film The Island…

I know I’m moving back to Alberta, but I can either move back in April or June/July. I’ve been having a tough time mentally and financially in Montreal, but I also know I can’t just judge the city based on fall and winter. The main con of moving back in April is I miss Tame Impala’s show here (and I can’t make their Vancouver date). Completely torn as to what I want to do, and who knows? Spring/summer may change my mind.

I’m going to the theatre tonight for the first time.
I once went to see a musical (’Oklahoma’) and hated it (we walked out). They had signs up to show when we were to applaud!!! That might be normal but seems a fraud to me, if it’s good folk will show it, if not then they won’t.

For those interested:
Currently still working on the new music for my final college project before I leave later this year (which our Holey may have some involvement in down the line ). That one 5 minute long suite thing I posted to my arts thread last year, while it got great grades and admire my own creativity on it, I realise the process was way too time consuming. I spent way too much time overdubbing random gubbins like a feck ton of Logic Mellotron flutes flying all over the place when I could have kept it short and been writing and recording more tracks to make the EP I had originally planned at the beginning of that project. So this year, I’m giving that plan another go, but trying to stick to a more lo-fi production sound. At the moment, the opening track uses quite a lot of Mellotron flutes (I love it, ok? Blame Strawberry Fields Forever for that! ) but beyond that, it’s mostly acoustic guitar and very minimal overdubs. And yes, once the thing is completed, I’ll link it in my arts thread. I already brought this up on this thread last month, but I’m still doing survey questions about the sound of the project. So far, I’ve only got results from 10 people (including Holey and Beatlebug), but my teacher says I could get a couple more, maybe 15-20. So, if anyone else wants to answer “yes” or “no” to three questions, step right this way and I’ll send you a PM!

I love me some theatre.
It was some proper Glasgow theatre garbage. Hated it.
I’m going to see ’Dial M For Murder’ at the Threatre Royal in Glasgow, it was the only thing on in months which wasn’t a comedy or musical, both of which I couldn’t sit thru. Hopefully be a good night but no harm trying new things. Better that than sitting in the house watching the latest affair in a TV soap. Plus I’m on annul leave so you can argue that is paid for by not working.
Seeing two films at the cinema first (’Dark Waters’ and ’The True History of the Kelly Gang’). Considering I was ill and stuck in my house and local area for a week and have only gone further for a few hours for the football last Saturday, I feel like John in his song ’I’m Stepping Out’.

Did anyone see the most recent episode of SNL? It was fabulous, there was another Diner Lobster/Bodga Bathroom sequel with Jake Gyllenhaal and David Byrne in it. So good.

Oh yes I absolutely adored it. I was downright cackling forever after that one sketch where John was a young man back from the navy and caught the eye of the admiral and his opening monologue was spectacular as always.
I very much enjoyed David Byrne’s performance, as well.
