I’m in a good mood today because I set the curve at 100% (15/15) on a test in APUSH, making it my first perfect score on a test in that class and the first time that I set the curve. I also got a 6/7 on the DBQ that I thought I completely folded on. In other news, I’m currently trying to work up the courage to ask a member of the male species whomst I am interested in to hang out with me (I have been told by trustworthy sources that the interest appears to be reciprocated, however, I am still very nervous of rejection……advice is appreciated…….)

@lovelyritametermaid JUST DO IT! Worst-case scenario you’ll live with the sting of rejection; best-case scenario it’ll turn out grand for all involved. The sooner the better, probably, otherwise your nerve will slip away. I’M ROOTING FOR YOU
Don’t take my dating advice though, I’m aromantic and have no sense of etiquette.

Sometimes guys are just as nervous. Maybe you’ll remain friends or maybe something else will happen (good hopefully), but you’ll never know until you try.

@Turn Left At Greenland, what was your Philosophy research about?
@Ahhh Girl my project was a comparative analysis of Friedrich Nietzsche and Buddhism’s approaches to the meaning and value of life. It was a really fun project to research!

Ahh, the dating nerves. I’ve always had those real bad, but I don’t know how common that is with guys in general. Then again, I’m always really obvious when I like a girl, so maybe I’m not a good example. anyways, bon chance! And I concur with @Sky999–I’ve made so many amazing friends by staying friends with them after things didn’t work out. Platonic friendships are underrated, in my opinion.

I agree there are some guys I’m glad nothing ever went anywhere and stayed friends because then I know, at least in my opinion, who will be there in the long run. There are times when people are just your “friend” to get to the next step.
On the other hand, it can be good starting as friends or acquaintances before dating them because then you get to know them and test the waters to see where to go from there.
Dating is tricky.
Best advice.. take a breath ask him to hang out and go from there (if you want). Take it slow. You don’t have to rush into anything. Just get to know each other if you don’t already or get to know each other better.

Going thru all that “will they say yes or no” anxiety is horrendous. Try to get to know the person a little and then go for it, far better for it to not work out and have the question answered than spend forever wondering what if or getting to the point of asking. All the best.
And all this talk reminds me of one of my favourite Calvin and Hobbes strips.
My garden is getting overhauled, getting rid of all the horribleness that it was to become more a blank canvas which I will add to it in time. Looks so much better.

I’m feeling kinda lost. I’m not sure what to do with my life now. I have post-Georgemas blues…
A couple of post-Georgemas ago (when I was just a wee lad), I had a couple of blue days as well. I think it happened because all of the daily creative energy and concentrated vibes (Hare Krishna) we all bring to the thread brings George alive. When it’s over we are forced back into reality. I recalled this on his birthday when I played All Things Must Pass on shuffle and The Art Of Dying came up first (within you and without you George).
The other thing that crossed my mind, I think you said the skies have been gray for a while in your neck of the woods. I remember reading that once the sun didn’t shine in Seattle for over 250 days in a row. Depression ran rampant in the city and visits to shrinks were up 30%. This condition is call SAD (seasonal affective disorder). Supposedly 15-20 minutes a day of bright-ilght therapy helps.

Have unleased war on my cold and sore throat. The only reason I don’t rattle with all the pills and cough sweets shoved inside me is due to the cough syrup which is binding them into one big lump that breaks down over time. Five days off work so far out of the 12; four and a half spent inside my house, the other half at work itself. Thankfully episodes of Inspector Morse, football and snooker are on as daytime TV, eveningtime TV and nighttime TV is utter garbage.

May I recommend lemon and ginger tea for the sore throat? It always help me whenever I get one. You should be able to get them in any major supermarket.

I drink milk, Milk And Honey or hot water and lemon. Not a fan of ginger.

Aye I’m not overly keen on it either but it seems to do the trick. I knew a German man who the second he would get a niggle of a sore throat would just chow down on ginger root- pretty impressive, mildly disgusting.

No, there’s no danger of that in the South. There’s a saying that goes, “If you don’t like the weather in North Carolina (or any Southern state), just stick around tomorrow.” Weather here, even in the “””depths””” of winter (not very deep), is here today, gone tomorrow. The sun is most assuredly shining today, and I managed to listen to (half) a Pink Floyd album before falling asleep last night, so I think I’m moving along nicely.
Besides, I like grey days.

^^I wish I could say the same of western Pennsylvania when it comes to good weather. The temperature has been fluctuating so much this past week that I’m starting to get headaches again from all the changes in barometric pressure. On Monday and Tuesday, it was pushing in the high 50s (degrees Fahrenheit), then on Wednesday it dropped all the way down to the 20s and we got a bunch of snow and we’re back to cold weather again. Just watch– tomorrow it will be in the 60s……
