It’s my birthday next Tuesday. We have a long weekend here and I’m going on a trip along the coast. Also, my hair is coming along well, and work is fine.

On Wednesday I got hired by my swim coach to lifeguard diving practices for two hours. It was boring (though I did get spooked every now and again by a diver who messed up their entrance into the water) but it gave me an excuse to freshen up on my life-saving knowledge and plus I get money that I can use to go see Little Women before it skrrrts out of my local theater.
Yesterday I went to my friend’s house for an End of the Season party for the swim team. Only about half the team showed up, but it was still a blast because the people who showed up were the people I liked best and who all got along with one another. We played Cards Against Humanity and other games and had large group discussions about swimming and team drama. Afterward, I went out with a few of my teammates to Dairy Queen for a sort of after-party and then went home, where I binge-watched Cheers in bed until 2 am. Good times.
I’m also starting therapy at the end of this month to help with my anxiety and other issues, which I’m happy but still very nervous. I’m starting medication in April, too, which also scares me a bit but I look forward to feeling better and improving my mental health so that I can truly enjoy my senior year and be more productive and happier in the future.
Anyhoo, have a lovely week, everybody!

Enjoy your trip Timothy, it sounds fab!
Good to hear (well… you know what I mean by that) that you’ll be getting therapy lovelyritametermaid, for having the courage to do so. Here’s to hoping it will help you quickly!
I need to ask the forum a question…
It’s my 18th next Thursday, and some close family are going to take me to a restaurant. Basically, I can’t decide between an Italian restaurant, or a Greek restaurant.
What would you choose?

Italian, but both are good. I’m actually going to an Italian restaurant on Saturday night.

@lovelyritametermaid, I am glad you are going to get some help. If you ever need to PM me about what you’re going through, I am here for you. Don’t skip taking your meds. If you do, about 5 hours later, you brain will start feeling zappy.

I’m off work for 12 days! Yip. That’s all I ever post on here anymore but it really should be headline news on all media sources.
I’m also off at the end of March. Love this time of year when all remaining annual leave must be taken so it’s crammed together.
All the best @lovelyritametermaid, it is a battle but you’re definitely taking the right steps to win it. The forum is a place for free and open posting so feel free to do so as you so desire and feel is right, plenty of encouragement and support is available.

I vote for Greek, but that’s only because I really love Greek architecture.
Either way I’m sure you’ll have a great time.

I vote Greek because baklava is the best thing on this planet
(cue the “bouzouki”-sounding bit in “Girl”)
Also, thanks for everyone’s support and love. I truly appreciate and I don’t deserve yinz kindness!

I too vote Greek because I’m an uncultured swine who lives in the middle of nowhere and therefore does not have access to anything remotely Greek apart from when Lidl does ‘Greek week’, where I never buy anything anyways because scary Greek food, I’ll just stick with my potatoes, thanks 😀
Italian while carbalicious is too accessible in my world and therefore must be even more accessible in yours, therefore GREEK, GREEK, GREEK!!

The 2-part Potter play is ‘good’- the effects, acting everything v. good, brilliant. The plot and the writing is a crime against anyone who read a single Harry Potter book in their lives.
@AppleScruffJunior, for the most part they concurred with you. Number one comment was “amazing cape action”. They did have a good time and it was a successful reunion. I’ll probably not see it myself. My wife, daughter and I saw all of the movies on the opening night (usually the Thursday evening pre-opening). When the last movie ended I had an uplifting emotional response over the whole experience that I don’t want to dilute (I haven’t seen the Amazing Beasts movies either).

It’s been awhile since I was on here–thank you, George, for having a birthday to remind me to come here!
Life news #1: I’ve had quite a wild ride with medical issues these last couple of years, but I’m with some really good doctors in Seattle now, and I’m feeling better and better. The annoying thing is that I have to get re-immunized, and I of course have an allergy to one of the preservatives in most vaccines, so that’s no fun. Still, I’m excited to move past this bizarre time in my life.
Life news #2: I will be flying to my college next week to present on my senior independent study research for philosophy! I’ve been working on it remotely (because of all the crazy medical stuff screwing up my graduation timeline and what not), and I’m currently working on putting the finishing touches on it. It’s an 83-page monster, but it’s my baby, and I’m so proud of it.
@lovelyritametermaid I don’t think I could’ve gotten through my last year of college without my meds. I’m glad you’re seeking help–I know I was reluctant to for a long time. It’s scary, but so worth it.
Now that I’m mostly wrapped up with school, I have no excuse for not showing up here more often. Hopefully you’ll all be seeing more of me!

Depression’s sorta been getting the better of me lately. Been missing work about once a week on average, mostly feeling like crap when I’m there, spending most of my time alone (not many friends in my new home, one of my roommates isn’t around much and the other doesn’t speak English), meds don’t feel like they’re working anymore (…again).
Playing music with people has helped a bit though. Have a show coming up Thursday that I’m excited about.
