Got the crap scared out of me in the storm that hit the UK yesterday. Was headed to the shop just after 8 last night, neighbour pulled up in his van, guessing correctly I was headed where he was headed, and offered a lift. Not going to turn down a lift, specially when the wind was almost taking me off my feet.

Coming back, as he turned into the car park, big gust hit the van and blew it over. Suddenly we’re on our feckin’ side and only the seat belt is stopping Paul dropping on top of me. Luckily other neighbours came out and helped us get out the van before the police and fire brigade arrived a few minutes later. Both a bit shaken but laughing, and apart from a few aches, the only real casualty was a bottle of brandy.

Probably lucky we weren’t going at any real speed as we were turning into our block’s car park.

RN – glad you don’t have to pay for your landlord’s/contractor’s problems.

I’m also very, very glad you’re ok after being blown over! That must have been insanely scary for a second there.a-hard-days-night-ringo-14

And TangerineTrees – I’m glad you’re ok too – a tornado sounds terrifying.a-hard-days-night-ringo-14a-hard-days-night-ringo-14

All these BBers going through scary stuff! apple01apple01

Woah, terrifying! Hope everyone is safe and well apple01

I was visiting friends on the other side of the country over the weekend but because of the storm literally every train was cancelled so it took didn’t get back until about 28 hours after I was supposed to, and also kind of soaking wet and freezing paul-mccartney-facepalm_gif

Australia is just getting on top of the bushfires and floods and high winds (my house is been without power for 3 days), and now we have a cyclone heading our way.

Fortunately, our dogs were prepared for the wet weather (even if they don’t look happy about it)…

Gosh, I sure hope that everyone and their loved ones stay safe and sound!

A lot has been going on in my little teenage sphere recently. I am now officially registered to take the SAT in March and the ACT in July. The ACT is far off right now but I have to start studying for the SAT ASAP, adding yet another thing I have to do. This week I had a physics midterm (I really hope I did OK, though there were a question or two that I completely blanked on so I just made stuff up) and this is also the last week of the varsity swim season for me (if I were to have made it to WPIALS [Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League– Swimming] my personal varsity season would’ve stretched longer, but I’m not that good….). Last night was our last dual-meet in which our boys won, giving them the title of undefeated Section champs, while our girls lost by 1 point. Oh well, hopefully, our girl’s team will pick it up a little more next year so we can work our way up to at least runners-up of the section (I’ll be captain then, so I can whip them into shape ahdn_john_08_gif). In terms of personal goals I placed 2nd as well as PRed in my 100 Breaststroke and helped my relay place 3rd in the 400 Free Relay. Tomorrow we have our Section Invitationals, were I hope to try to PR again in breaststroke and PR in my 200 IM. It’ll be sad saying goodbye to another season, but I look forward to my senior year– next year (yikes). (Plus, I’ll be returning to swimming via the aquatic club come after March. I have to stay in shape for lifeguarding in the summer.)

Have a wonderuful day everyone! Take care of yourselves! heart

My daughters friends from college drove up from LA today. They are going to see the 2 part Harry Potter play in San Francisco tomorrow. My wife is out of town, so I had dog washing duties this morning. I’m not sure Charlie will ever forgive me:

Ahahahaha, that poor dog. He looks sheer miserable in the sink.

The 2-part Potter play is ‘good’- the effects, acting everything v. good, brilliant. The plot and the writing is a crime against anyone who read a single Harry Potter book in their lives.
