Sorry to hear about that, @lovelyritametermaid . Sometimes parents are so eager for their children to do well that they prioritise success over wellbeing.. On the grades, I definitely relate right now, I have a piece of philosophy coursework due in less than 20 hours, I haven’t finished it and the bar where I normally work has been taken over by a quiz
Anyways, good luck with your jazz festival!

Congratulations, @Tony Japanese! So happy for you two (soon to be three)!
Good luck on your swim meet and jazz festival, @lovelyritametermaid. Also, don’t worry about your parents, just try your best and that’s all that matters.
There’s only about three days until the end of the semester here, but all of the missing work that I’ve accumulated since last term is due tomorrow so that the teachers have time to grade it. I still have to finish my history and English projects and am trying to rescue my algebra grade. I have two final exams tomorrow in my algebra and biology classes which I’m stressing about, considering I missed school the day that we took all of the notes for the test in my science class. I understand why teachers clump exams on the same days because they don’t have a lot of time to grade assignments before the end of the term, but it is way too stressful for the students. It’s about 15 degrees Fahrenheit here (about -9.4 degrees Celsius), and yet I saw at least ten kids wearing shorts. It makes me wonder if they can actually feel how cold it is.
Well, I should probably start on my homework. Have a great day everyone!

So your boy actually conquered procrastination for once and got it done way faster than I’d hoped to, and actually feel like I did an okay job It’s a minor achievement, considering that it’s just a small piece of coursework, but considering that I’m Very Online and generally put the minimum amount of effort into my studies, I’m pretty pleased with myself

CONGRATULATIONS!
College ain’t no joke. It’s the time to put more than the minimum amount of effort into your coursework. (at least that’s what all my college professors are telling me, I’m sure they’re not biased in any way, shape, or form )

Well that’s not how I thought today would pan out.
My grandma’s been quite sick – basically since a few days before Christmas she’s been on a sharp decline, and since then we knew the end was near. I went to see her today, knowing today may or may not be the last time I see her. She was barely conscious, but I didn’t expect anything more.
I was also told that one of her cousins was going to come at some point to say goodbye.
Now, I’ve been able to say, for the last 17 years and 11 months of my life, that I’m an only child with no cousins. And suddenly, this relative I just met tells me that he is in fact my grandmother’s son, when she had an affair during uni… and that I do, in fact, have a cousin – though you could argue she’s actually a half-cousin.
That’s kind of changed a few things in my life. But life goes on (la-la-la-la life goes on!)

RIP Fiddy’s chicken.
We did pretty well at my jazz festival on Saturday (we played “Africa,” “The Girl From Ipanema,” and “Buckjump”) and I had a ton of fun. The other bands were crazy talented and I was literally screaming like I was a teenybopper at a Beatles concert during one of the school’s alto and baritone sax solos (those guys were going absolute ham— no turkey). I was especially enthralled by the bass player of one of the bands who doubled as one of the student sound engineers for the rest of the show. I would describe him as a young, tall, emo Ringo Starr with long curly hair (so, like, my entire type). I wanted to get his number but my friend got his Snapchat before me…ah, well can’t win ’em all (I don’t even have Snapchat, so) The whole thing was incredibly gear and I’m excited for next year’s.

I’m very sorry, Fiddy, I was making more bad chicken dinner jokes at your expense. It was wrong and I shouldn’t have done it and I know I don’t take sad situations seriously enough and
no one wants two-day-old chicken anyway I know, I know, we wouldn’t be making fun of you if it were a cat or dog. I’m sorry.
