I’m deeply sorry about your loss, @PurplishRain . Hope we can do something to help you Carry That Weight heart

This is the fourth day of out training and it’s The Age Of Exhaustion paul-mccartneyWe’re out there under the heat all day, so I don’t really check the forum often. Today it finally rains, so we get lucky, stay indoors and happily focus on phones.ahdn_john_08_gif

Finally going to see ‘Yesterday ‘ today.

Avoiding the spoilers all this time has been hard………I know that there’s a surprise guest …….I know that for some reason John fans might feel let down…And of course the premise of the film…..

We’re allowed a beer in the cinemas here…. avoiding popcorn at the moment but will munch on something healthy and I expect have the cinema to myself.

……..I’m so excited!!!!

Glad to learn about your glasses, @Ron Nasty. Did you get a new phone?

Earliest will be Friday, but I think that with this being the the fortnight I get paid less out of the four-week cycle, and with possibly going into town to meet someone for lunch on 6 September, it’s probably gonna be held over for another fortnight.

Ain’t like my phone gets much use.

I smiled a lot……Laughed quite a few times …….It was a nice fairy tale…..Fairy tales often bring the reality into greater focus.

Certainly the theme that the world is a better place with the Beatles in it (however that’s brought about) struck home strongly…..As did the timeless quality of their songs…..

…..And brought into contrast the vast corporate cynicism that surrounds the music industry today thereby highlighting Brian’s nurturing importance……..Reinforcing the belief that the stars really did align in putting John, Paul, George, Ringo, Brian and George Martin in each others path……..

Sometimes the best fairy tales are ridiculously, impossibly, wonderfully true.

So, what have I been up to in my absence? ahdn_george_08

Unfortunately, this year’s summer holiday has not been as eventful or exciting as I hoped for it to be. I had to help out around the house and garden for the most part when I was hoping to have more freedom to go places and do things myself. Fingers crossed next summer will be the one!  However, in this time home, I decided to delve further into the country and country rock rabbit hole I briefly talked about here before I left. I now have many more favourite artists and groups in this area like Hank Williams, The Everly Brothers, The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers etc. which are now big influences towards the music I want make.

Regarding my “Beatles burnout”, I partially decided to undertake it because of the Yesterday movie. It still doesn’t look appealing to me, even with the “John” scene that was a big deal to a lot of people. The media hype here in the UK for me was doing my head in and I just felt I needed to distance myself from The Beatles til it died down a little. Surprisingly, I did find myself still listening to a lot of Wings (which inspired me to come back to Discord a few days before my return here and help Fiddy make a Wings server which you should all check out lol) and (because it’s country ahdn_ringo_09) Ringo’s Beacoups of Blues. But anyways, I’ve recovered since and can listen to The Beatles as a group again! ahdn_john_08_gif  I should mention though my love for The Beach Boys which was already well known before I left has made them my favourite group  in my time away and now The Beatles are second. Well, it is summer, so I’ve had to binge them beyond my usual point!

Hope this clears everything! john-lennon-salute_gif

This is not the sort of thing I’d normally post but it sort of fits here at the moment………

Now one of the wonderful things about Thailand is the availability and cheapness of a decent body massage….Not everyone’s cup of puer cha…..Because some people are odd……But for me one of life’s pleasures.

Last week due I believe to a sinus problem I had a nagging headache and thought rather than resort to paracetamol…..I’d have a massage and take my mind off it.

There are at least half-a-doz massage shops within a two minute walk from my condo…..3 are even on the ground floor level of my condo….

However, there’s a lady I know at a shop just outside my condo block called Pai….(which means bamboo)…..She’s a role poly, no neck Benny the Ball type and unusually for Thais rarely breaks into a smile…..However….She has magic in her fingers and from beginning to end it’s an hour of pure luxurious indulgence……for about 6 British  pounds

Now the massage beds are raised and usually have a hole where your face fits…..And that was the case here…..This stops your nose getting crushed into a mattress when she’s working on your upper back and neck.

For some reason, about 5 mins in, my right nostril started to run. Slowly at first and then like a tap…..I didn’t want to stop and because I wasn’t even feeling like I might sneeze I decided I’d just let gravity take its course….And clean everything up myself when she was out of sight. After about 15 minutes I changed the position of my head a fraction……It was enough to see a growing puddle of clear nose-water forming on the white-tiled floor below my face……Bugger this is embarrassing……Hopefully when I turn over I’ll ask for a tissue have a blow…. and at the end clean everything up and no one will be the wiser.

About another 10 mins into the session Pai walks around to the head of the bed to work on my shoulders from a different angle …..I’d forgotten she does this.

Now I was alarmed to see her little brown feet appear below my head…..and not far from that embarrassing puddle ………AHHHRRRG!! I couldn’t admit to this now. Why hadn’t I mentioned it to her right at the start? What was I thinking??

I moved my head and nose down and as far as I could… that helped by a cm….But any minute I expected her foot to venture further under the bed and get sploshed with the drippings from my b*****d nose, or step in a little too far and slip in the snotty puddle….I could imagine the screams and her utter revulsion……

Somehow she finished my back without a splosh….. or a skid in the by now, enormous puddle…..

In Thai she asks me to turn over to do my front…..In Thai I reply, ‘Set lel….’ or finish here…..It takes a while to explain to Pai I’m not upset with her, she’s done nothing wrong…..Just, ‘Pom Jam dai…Mai me wallah’….I remember I not have time……’She goes off with the hump while I grab some tissues……….Blow copious amounts of clear liquid out from the offending nostril and clean up the puddle below……

I get dressed and toddle off…….Thankful no one’s the wiser.

Pai’s scratching her head thinking stupid falang…(‘foreigner’)…….But a smile breaks out counting her usual generous tip for half the work …….

I’m thinking…..My sinus seems to be clear now…… and my headache’s gone……..

A happy-ending all round then….
