Work is finishing up, as my job is only a temporary summer one and I’m running out of things to do. I might only have one day left this week. mccartney-shrug_01_gif

In other news, school is starting up in less than two weeks. I’m looking forward to it, though, as I’ve missed being around friends and stuff.paul-mccartney-thumb_gif

I must admit, though: I find it quite weird how some of you people start school in August as opposed to early September. We do have some schools with modified calendars here, but it’s still such a foreign concept to me.a-hard-days-night-paul-10

I know, it’s quite ridiculous. I suppose they need the maximum amount of time possible in order to cram the us full of useless information we already know. Next year, they’re going to start school two weeks earlier, but I won’t need to worry about that because I’ll be gone. Finally.

Where I went to school, primary and secondary school (not going to work out what those are in other countries) closed for the summer holiday on the nearest date to the 30th June as well as close to the Friday and reopened on as near to the 17th August as possible whilst being sensible (so if the Friday was the 17th it would be the Monday (20th) as no point going back for one day then having the weekend).

Not all schools in Scotland are the same.

Maybe it’s to do with the weather? Typically September is when it starts to get colder here in the UK (it’s always raining but the rain gets colder then) so I can see why they would send us back around then so people aren’t stuck in classrooms in the heat. Mind, that doesn’t stop them from making us sit in exam halls during May and June paul-mccartney-facepalm_gif

I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Good question….

Doesn’t effectively coincide with the harvest….

Perhaps someone decided kids need a culmination to the academic year in terms of exams followed by a break and a fresh term and challenge. Neat linear educational bites as it were.

Perhaps someone considered that as ‘school’ means leisure there should be some factored in? Perhaps it’s the teachers that need the break…..

Good question. But I loved school holidays……..prepared me for retirement.

As for my life……After being prescribed statins to reduce cholesterol …..(in my opinion prematurely)……I eschewed the Dr’s advice and changed my diet…..

In the bin went all the butter, cheese, milk, biscuits etc……Doubled my, (in Thai) ‘ockgamlangai’ or in english exercise regime ……..

In came a microwave steamer…… salmon, sea bass, steamed chicken, basmati rice, fruit, nuts, blueberries, oats, avocado and salad….And I’m doing lots with Olive Oil….Popeye will be mad!!

My special ingredient through all this has been ‘puer tea’.…..The ‘cake’ of puer I have is from nearly 15 years ago and is over 60 years old…….Full of antioxidants I guzzle about 5 cups from one infusion a day….

Went back to my Dr after a month for more blood tests….He was very happy and pleased with himself that the statins were working so quickly and my results including liver function were back in normal ranges….. My Blood pressure was 119/78…….I’m nearly 67 so that’s pretty good.

I thought he’d be happy for me but he seemed a little crestfallen when I explained the statins had actually been put on hold incase the lifestyle changes hadn’t worked…..

Oh and my gym has a steam room and sauna and I’ve never bothered with them before but recently a regular sweat-up to flush out toxins through the skin benefits the liver too.

Mind you I’ll die of something anyway….But saving money on statins is good news.

My cinema going continued today with seeing ‘Crawl’ and ‘Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark’.

As always no spoilers but ‘Scary Stories’ is one of the most enjoyable films I’ve seen for a good while. Nothing memorable or groundbreaking, simply found it a very good film which succeeded in being creepy and giving a few shocks. Whoever was responsible for ‘Annabelle Please Let Me Go Home*’ should be made to watch to know how not to make such a boring film.

*Shouldn’t need to be said but that’s not the actual title.

Sorry I haven’t been as active on here. I’ve been way more active on Discord. But a lot has gone on since the last time I logged in

The big thing being that My mother passed away on the 20th of July. It’s been over a month but there is still a huge empty void in my life as the days go by. Currently I’m trying to get my drivers license and to get a job with the help of a lot of my Mom’s associates.

I don’t want to sound depressing but this is what has been going on

That’s pretty crap @PurplishRain but remember what Paul said – It’s Getting Better all the time.

Here’s hoping that when you get the drivers licence and the job, everything gets much better.

@PurplishRain, I know how annoying it is when people say this over and over and it never seems to mean anything, but I am so sorry. Believe it or not, it does get better, but there is plenty of misery involved as well and you shouldn’t feel bad for talking about it. I’m still better at talking to eels than people, but if you need anything, you know where to find me. Best of luck to you, and seeing as it’s impossible to give infinite apples:

Sorry to hear that, @PurplishRain. heart Never easy.

I get a pair of new glasses next Wednesday, so will be able to see more than a blur again. Lennon metal-framed Granny glasses. £69 for the frames before my NHS discounts, £10 after.

It will be nice to be able to see the telly again!!!

Take time to grieve properly, @PurplishRain. See a counselor and/or read some books about the grieving process. Don’t let anyone take your grieving time away from you.

Glad to learn about your glasses, @Ron Nasty. Did you get a new phone?
