The UK had its coldest winter day since 1963 in February and its hottest day ever in July. The 10 coldest years on record all date to before 1963, while the 10 hottest years on record are all after 2002.
July was the hottest July on record worldwide ever, with highest temperatures being shattered in many countries.
Climate change, kids.
This though. So true…
Such clear facts, almost totally black and white, yet there’s still no real action.
(And don’t blame me, kiddies! I didn’t do it. That just isn’t fair. It was already broken when I found it.)
Isn’t it winter where you are, @The Hole Got Fixed? You’d expect a nip in the air, surely?
Yeah it’s winter here. Though it’s been a couple of degrees warmer than normal so far this winter so the sudden drop to where it should be (or at least, historically) is a shock to the system.
In a couple of hours, snow is forecast down to 400 metres in and around Melbourne. That’s pretty uncommon!

The southeast is hot hot hot every summer. I’m used to it.
It’s not bad right now, though. We had a big old thunderstorm last night which blessed us with some slightly cooler air, plus it’s always pretty nice in my tree.

Had a great conversation with my co worker, a literature student, and I’ve now got a great big list of books I need to read. So tomorrow I’m going to be making a trip to the second hand bookshop.

That’s a very nice tree. I wish mine had that many branches.

Thank you! Unfortunately I haven’t yet figured out how to access those branches you see in the image, but it is indeed a fine specimen of sweetgum. Bit of a scuffle to get up into, but very comfy when there, and I enjoy a bit of a scuffle if it means a nice relaxing sit in the treetops. I have another tree, a wild cherry, that’s easier to get into but it’s smaller and not quite as comfy, which I also enjoy the company of, and then there’s the large oak tree I use to eavesdrop on my one neighbour’s summer-afternoon listening, which I access by means of a smaller, ladder-like sweetgum next to it… I haven’t climbed that one much lately ad it is a bit of a trek through brambley woods and I’m usually too lazy to put my shoes on for it.
In my life, it’s ninety degrees Fahrenheit and I’m (thankfully in the shade) staining the deck stairs whilst blasting Led Zeppelin into my earbulbs, which is a pretty decent way to spend a summer afternoon in my opinion.

It’s funny you say that, I’ve been looking into the weather at Utqiagvik, Alaska and I’ve been noticing the same thing. Typically, the average July high is around 47*F but this year, the average high was 53*F, with only 4 days being below the historical average high and not a single day being below the average low of 34*F. However, now in August, we’re starting to see temperatures closer to the average August high of 44*F. Interesting how even the northernmost city in the US has tolerable summers.
Anyways, i put new strings on my acoustic guitar (Ernie Ball regular slinky’s) but had to bore a hole so i could put a nice bridge pin instead of the bent one i had in there.

Currently, the rain is falling at angles I didn’t know was possible for rain to be at. Pretty sure the whole of the UK is hiding inside and plenty of thunderstorms forecast as well.
In other exciting news, it cost me almost £200 to get my Beatles watch serviced and I was successful enough to get tickets to three of the four Euro 2020 matches at Hampden. If Scotland do create a miracle and actually qualify (thru the earlier but later playoffs as we have already ballsed up the group stage) I will get to see them.

Sky News has been on all day. Not by choice. Woke up with Sky News on and haven’t been able to find the remote all day. I put it down somewhere, and all day it’s been, “Where the feck did I put that down!!! “
No buttons on TV, just remote.
But it was/is a universal remote, which had replaced the proper remote that had been getting dodgy so was replaced with the universal. I thought, “All I gotta do is get batteries and struggle with it.” Bought a pack of AA’s, remote takes AAA’s.
Still watching Sky News.

I wish they had buttons on the TV like they used to. Here in the US, we technically do have buttons on the TV but they’re worthless because you need a stupid box to watch anything and the channel buttons don’t correspond with the channel buttons on the remote.

You obviously don’t use it much, do you?
I’ve used it all of one time, to look up my PSAT scores. I have no idea who set up the account or how I can open it. I’m very frustrated.
