From my perspective, when you lie down on the armchair, unable to predict what’s going to happen in your mouth, and a dentist looking down upon you with sharp and buzzing equipment ready in their hands—that can be frightening
Today our small traveling squad walked a long way and ended up returning to where we started, because of the obscure information a fellow provided. Funny that after several days with huge bowls of beef and lamb, I got sick of all the dishes and only wanted to enjoy my juice.
(And oops, I did a Fiddy 🙂 )

Most people I’ve spoken to aren’t all that scared of the dentist, but I am curious where it originated. Did dentists used to be much deadlier?
I don’t fear my dentist at all, but I fear dentists as a species, on principle, out of loyalty to George.

Dentists were probably scarier before modern anaesthetics and the advent of periodic cleanings. Back when the only reason you went to a dentist was to have holes in your teeth drilled and filled with heavy metals, or to have those teeth forcibly removed altogether, all without prioritising the comfort of the patient quite so much as they do now… Probably scary.
I think, along with technological advancement, they realized that you catch more flies with honey and tried to make going to the dentist as cushy and worry-free as possible.
ETA: so that people would actually go to the dentist instead of avoiding it till their teeth were too far gone and then it wouldn’t be a pleasant experience anyway. Kind of a self-defeating cultural mindset I guess.
Did you need in-depth historical perspective on the culture of going to the dentist from an armchair philosopher? Because you got it.

Working away I am.
My ongoing in-depth movie reviews:
Aladin was good, Will Smith steals the movie.
Can’t remember if I said: The Dead Don’t Die was alright, it passes ok but if not for Bill Murray it would have been much worse (not that he’s exceptional in it, more that it’s Bill Murray!!).
Looking forward to the English schools going back and the kids’ films cease.

I don’t often write reviews when you buy something and they ask you to an online review. Years ago when I rang the local takeaway to order a delivery, I wouldn’t be asked to provide a salutary letter reviewing the food quality, service and delivery. Now, there’s an email, every time, begging for it. I always ignore. But then a trusted delivers crap food. Nasty’s first Just Eat review wasn’t very positive.

Sure, you may be looking forward to it…
You’re attending an English school rather than American next term? Do pay a visit if you’re in the area where the end of world will surely come (Bromley South or Orpington)…
Don’t even know why it makes mmm happy as he’s waiting for Scottish schools to go back…

I am, Fiddy, I am. Y’all need to know better than I, which takes time schooling. All I got after 50 years is a fact or two about the Beatles that stand me in good stead.
Get ye back to your lessons to be better than I…

WE GOT TO DO VIP! IT WAS SORT OF LIKE A GRADUATION PRESENT. IT WAS EXPENSIVE BUT TOTALLY WORTH IT.
I assume some poor mod will have to approve this post because of the number of pictures.
Oh and pics in the spoiler.
so before the show I went to the gift shop, and got these.
Then an hour before there’s a backstage tour for VIP. Funnily enough my parents I were the only ones there, so it got to be a small tour. I got to take a bunch of cool pics backstage.
Saw this in the elevator as we entered.
First thing we saw was the golden Beetle.
28IF reference!
Cool Yellow Submarine thing.
Cool drumset thing someone wears.
It’s the poster! It was kind of cool the tour guide explained that the song was really special to the show because the Beatles made a song celebrating the circus, and now there’s a circus celebrating the Beatles.
This one ended up blurry but it’s a cute moving drumset, and it has floor sensors that keep it from falling off the stage.
These are the umbrellas and they have really tiny smoke machines in them.
This is the show breakdown I believe.
This is a quick change area. The 2 red costumes are for the drunk ladies.
This is used for Octopus’s Garden . It takes 2 days to wash, so unlike most things that get washed at the end of the 2 shows every day, this only gets washed a few days a year.
Sgt. Pepper wears this in the show, and it weighs 60 pounds.
This is the White Beetle they use for the crash
And they have the back up beetle above.
This is where the skaters get to practice the stage one is much skinnier.
Here are the Blue Meanie costumes! They were added into the show when it got revamped in 2016. Also apparently Stella McCartney took selfies in the costume when Paul brought her to the show.
This is what the stage looked like for me!
This is a cool bench that all the people working there signed. They joked that if you look hard enough you’ll find Paul and Ringo, but it was pretty clear no one famous has signed the bench. Still cool tho.
And here’s Mr. Kite during preshow.
Also some cool things that I don’t have pictures of that I can’t send:
There was the Sgt Pepper album photo thing that they had out for the 50th anniversary backstage, and I got to take a picture with it.
We also got to talk to 2 cast members. One played the Eggman, and the other was a dancer. We got to take a picture with them on the skating area, and we got that photo as special thing after the show.
I also want to say that I went into this show as blind as possible. I avoided listening to the soundtrack until it was the “right time” though I didn’t realize what that would be. I’m just really happy I got to experience it like this.

That is awesome, I’m so happy for you! You should make a thread to share these pics in, since there are probably some who don’t read the ATN threads but would be interested.
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.
