I’ve been trying out transcendental meditation over the last few weeks. I did a search on the forum and found a general meditation thread which is closed and I was going to start a new one but found I’m blocked from opening a new discussion in the All Together Now section.
Not just you, all general users (non-mods and admins) are blocked from opening any thread in ATN , as of a few months ago.
You can request it to be opened though.

Some ATN threads were closed in an attempt to steer the conversations more towards Beatley topics.
The Beatles did transcendental meditation. @Leppo, would you create a thread on the topic in the Yesterday & Today section? Kick it off with a bit of info about the Beatles and TM then tell us about your experience with it. That would be a fab thread. Here’s an apple to entice you

Yesterday I went on a bike ride with a friend before heading to someone’s house for a small gathering, but since the host had phoned to say her and a couple other attendees were going to be late, we decided to go on an time killing explore in the mountains to avoid having to awkwardly arrive at her house… famous last words. The road we were on (which promised us in official looking signage we would arrive at a lake) quickly deteriorated from potholes into very steep, overgrown rocky anarchy and we ended up bottoming out the car on the rocks a couple of times (to THE most horrible scraping sound). We’d persisted in the hopes of reaching tarmac but after that we decided to turn around, forcing us to attempt to drive back up what was basically a farmer’s countryside track that obviously hadn’t been driven on in years, at which point we got wheelspin and the engine started overheating, with steam literally pouring out the front of the car… and we had no phone signal to call for help. Eventually, however, after a lot of panicking, we decided to take it at a run up and somehow made it out of there by flooring the accelerator and making it up the track seemingly by sheer force of will. Probably the most relieved I’ve ever felt once we got back onto a major road. Needless to say, we both collapsed as soon as we arrived at our friend’s house

Bad news: Plan for HK failed. I’ll stay in my city for university. (It’s a pretty good one though)
Good news: I’m going to law school, which is my ideal major.
Tomorrow I’ll step on the train and head for Beijing to watch Courtney Barnett perform (with my dad cuz I, an underage girl, need company. But he hardly knows English, let alone enjoy a rock gig…) Then-some of you will like this-there’s also a David Bowie exhibition

Just been for a drive out to a tarn on a mountain nearby my house. The hike up was pretty tough (27 degree heat, which is pretty much unheard of here) but once I got to the tarn I had it all to myself, and it was very refreshing Now to work for another shift

So last night I went to Courtney Barnett’s gig and had fun. The performance was great, grungy and fierce. Courtney was sweet and the audience were excited. Some boys kept jumping in front of me (I wish I were taller!) and shouted “Courtney I love you!”
This morning I went to the exhibition Bowie by Mick Rock, which presented Mick’s classic photos of David and others. Those were beautiful pics and there were some great installations. But even I can give introduction better than the guide…
(8 pics alert!)

It’s too darn hot!!!!
Tomorrow we’re expected to break the all-time temperature records. In Kent, the UK part of that Nasty lives.

Never come to the Southern US, then, RN. Although I have to admit it’s pretty decent right now, after a cool-ish front went through yesterday and broke the weeks of interminable insufferable 100-degree-F highs.
