Also, I have some undiagnosed form of sleep disorder, which I take melatonin for every night and I was about to run out. Without it, it’d be highly likely that I wouldn’t sleep at all, and, even if I did, it wouldn’t be enough.Do you suffer from insomnia too, @Necko? I do, and just like you without medication I could go on without sleep for days, until I started to hallucinate I guess (worry not fellows Beatlemaniacs: I’ve never hallucinated). Sometimes it’s 5:00 am and I am still awake. I just read, listen to music, smoke, drink beer, anything –because there’s nothing worse than tossing and turning in the dark. Bummer. I hope we both can sleep naturally, without any medication, in the future. Hang in there, buddy.
I don’t know, because I have trouble getting to sleep, but not staying asleep. Once I’m there, I’m there. I just have trouble getting there.

@DrBeatle, i’m sure that as time passes and life settles down you will come to love aspects of your new surroundings whilst miss parts of old. Its just part of live.
Get well soon @WETSRoosa and your partner, hopefully the kid calms down a bit and you can both get some rest. Any chance he goes to nursery so you both can get some peace and time to recuperate?
@Necko, great to hear of such a generous act of kindness from your teacher. There are always a few great ones that you get on with amidst all the bores and neanderthals that stalk the corridors barking at any young sapling that is within spitting distance and inhabit the staff rooms.
@She_is_leaving_home, why did your family move 10 meters? Cant you just hack the old wifi? And welcome back.

Spent the night in a B&B in an English city. Been awake since 5:58am when folk outside started making enough noise to startle a deaf elephant, who the hell needs to start banging away at the ground before 6am? How folk can stay in the city is beyond me.
And they really need to learn the difference between the road and the pavement; ignoring a car when its coming towards you as you stand in the middle of the street isn’t very helpful or sensible.

@meanmistermustard Yes, he goes to a preschool/daycare during the school week and since the wife works from home (most of the time), that’s her getaway from the kid. I get away from the kid by heading to the office. We are looking at a weekend getaway for the two of us sometime in November at a cabin in the Smoky Mountains (yep, the same Smokies Paul sang about in Back In The USSR ) and leaving the kid with his older brothers.
And I understand about the noise and the city; my parents live in downtown Charlotte, and when we’ve stayed over at their condo our sleep has been disturbed due to the rowdy drunks and the street sweepers that come overnight.

We build a house practically on backyard of the old house, beacuse the old house is grandma’s house and it’s small. But the wifi doesn’t work, apparently is too weak signal so… I’m hanging a lot with my grandma till we don’t get a wifi
Come on nowhereman we will take you somwhere!

I feel your pain. This happens a lot in my street. It’s like they don’t care that there are a few other families living there and that some people need sleep. The worst thing is that they’d start at 6 am and it seems like they stop as soon as the whole street has woken up by the noise. If you’re only going to make noise for a short time, why not start at a more humane hour?
And that road thing happens here too. We’d drive or cycle somewhere and people will just cross the road all of a sudden without even looking and we’d have to kick the brakes really fast and then they get mad at you, as if you’re the one not looking out. Or indeed they walk on the middle of the road while there’s a sidewalk right next to them. I can’t believe people sometimes

I’ve been here in PA a week and a half…
There is NOTHING going on here… what I mean is there is nothing here in terms of music, concert venues (well, there’s an arena in Hershey about 5 minutes away but all they seem to get are bloody country music artists, yuck!), no record stores (I miss Bull Moose Music!) and I’m in the land of country music…
…it’s really not that bad, just a big adjustment going from being on the outskirts of a major city to the middle of boring farmland.
Dr.Beatle – welcome to PA. By your description of the area, you live about an hour west of us. We live an hour east of Harrisburg and an hour west of Philadelphia. Sorry to hear about the country music thing – we don’t hear much of that where we live. You are correct that out your way there is nothing but farms. It’s even more desolate west of you until you hit Pittsburgh. I miss Bull Moose Music too – my favorite music store when we lived in in Maine. Once you get out and start exploring, I think you will find that PA is beautiful once you are away from all the farms in the flatland.
Great news! After months of searching, we finally found a house. The builder just accepted our offer last Friday – not sure yet when we close on it, but we are thrilled to have a place of our own again. We’ve been living out of boxes for too long.

Also, my teacher decided to waive the ATM fees that she had previously claimed that I owed her.
Yay for $.

Thanks guys! The yard is quite manageable without the need for livestock!

Congrats @Zig! You’re lucky to not have to hear much country music where you live. Where I live (you know the state at least), it’s everywhere – even sometimes in BOWLING ALLEYS. I guess it beats the same bland “party” “music” all the time, but I’d definitely rather listen to neither.
…Anyway, this post is about you, so congratulations again.

Thank you SFF and B-dog.
A while back, some friends of mine decided they wanted to go bowling late one night, so I went with them. They failed to tell me it was Country Music night until we were already paid for and set up with lanes. We got all set up and then the lights went out – except for the ones directly over the lanes of course. During the first second of this, I thought “Ah, cool!”. The very next second, the music started and I thought “Ah, crap!”. I don’t dislike all country music, I just can’t take it in large doses.
