So sorry to hear that @50yearslate — but at least hopefully you’ve got a better idea of what you need to do to succeed on the test?
I guess :/

Thank you, I hope so too.

I have my math placement test today and I am f r e a k i n g o u t. I am seriously terrified.
Got my results back today– I didn’t pass and I have to do a retake. 🙁
When you do succeed, I’ll say “on behalf of the group and ourselves I’m glad you passed the audition.”

I have three tests next week, two of which are math.
The good news– my math tests have been postponed to next week.
The bad news– This means I will have to take math tests for THREE DAYS IN A ROW, because my placement test retake is also next week.
Love one another.

It was EPIC (as expected — this is, after all, Muse we’re talking about — they’re incapable of putting on a bad live show) aaaand I am currently functioning on the four hours of sleep I got after we got home at seven AM this morning, after being awake and stomping for 24 hours

Awesome! What was the setlist like (in terms of greatest hits, deep cuts, new material, improvisation etc)? I’m not a huge Muse fan but their shows have always looked awesome to me

@QuarryMan
This show was part of their Simulation Theory tour, so it was very heavy on songs from the album. (It’s very good, I quite like it — I also spent part of the drive home cross-analysing the album and tour from a perspective of emotional and cultural significance because 3 AM me is even nerdier than normal me ) Other than album tracks, they mostly played better-known staples and songs that fit the neo-80s futuristic simulation theme, but they did do a medley during the encore that included parts of deep cuts. (Full setlist here.)
The headline show they did at Carolina Rebellion music festival last May, which I attended, was a much heavier setlist (as befitted the festival theme) with bits and pieces from most of their albums.
Generally speaking, Muse never plays enough deep cuts to satisfy their fans — but ‘Musers’ are mostly rabid fans who obsess over e v e r y s i n g l e b-side, bonus track, and live jam so it’s not exactly the band’s fault, or at least not directly (how much can you hold an artist responsible for the over-the-top devotion of their fanbase? ) Their shows are also very heavily choreographed, which, while it’s an incredibly cool spectacle, it also kind of eliminates a lot of potential spontaneity. Again, I think the festival show had more jamming and random riffs in it. But, really, for the best random jams and band members being thrown at each other (I s**t you not) you have to go back in time to about 2002.
Whether an arena show with giant puppets or a festival show with wheelchair crowd-surfers, Muse’s live shows are always 10/10 would 100% recommend.

It sounds amazing! I saw that on their Drones tour they had actual drones flying around the stadiums.
That reminds me, what was the venue like, and how close were you to the stage?

It was a pretty decent-sized venue, not as big as when we saw Roger Waters in Boston (we were in the very bloodiest of nosebleed seats that time, so it may’ve seemed bigger). Actually this arena seemed smaller than I expected. We were pretty close, about mid-way up the side seating, just past the front extension bit of the stage.

Cool, sounds like you had a great time. I really need to go to more gigs, I always love them when I’m there, but am put off by the prospect of arranging it.

I’ve been seeing a ton of jam bands recently. Followed the band Spafford through 3 shows in Oregon last week. So much fun. Got to talk to the band afterward. They can take jams into the stratosphere, routinely improvising for 20+ min. Last year they played an hour long jam as an opener. Fun band. Great players and writers.
