I just took what may have been the worst math test I have ever experienced (in HS at least) and I am dead inside.
Funny, i just finished a math test. Now I’m just sitting in tutoring pretending to do work. Math is fun but sometimes i hate it. RIP to both of us. Hope you feel better soon! BE ALIVE INSIDE!

What was the topic?
It was a bunch of different stuff, but the problems that I had the most trouble with involved graphs & equations. It was terrible.
That’s largely what maths gets to be as you get older

Yes, sadly. I hate graphs with a passion.
They weren’t normal graphs though, they had asymptotes (no idea how to spell that word) and holes and crap like that…
I’m sure if I’d studied more I would have done better but I couldn’t study because I was working on my story for English which, it turns out, isn’t even due till Thursday.

You should have gotten Jeremy Hilary Boob, PhD, to tutor you.
Though he did say that there were no holes in his education. Maybe Ringo? Or Holey?
I find graphs not that bad, just rather boring. I’m sorry your test didn’t go well, Fiddy.

Ah, it’s okay, there’s still time left in the semester to improve my grade. Thanks though

A Truncus? A Hyperbola? A Square root graph? I’ve been doing all of them recently…

Ughhhh that sucks.
Speaking of which I had an English test today and my teacher (who is regarded as a legend pretty much) wrote himself into most of the questions. Everyone loved the test!

Maths was my worst topic at school. I was glad when I no longer had to do it. English, art and sport are my big three.

I’m in the highest level math class in my grade, and it’s so annoying because literally everyone in the class is a super smart Asian, and everyone else knows everything already. When the teacher actually tries to teach us, everyone complains that it’s too easy, and I have no idea what’s going on.

How is it relevant that they’re Asian
(For the record I am half Asian and I amn’t great at maths, I think I inherited all the wrong genes )

I was in the same situation in junior middle school, and I felt terrible
And if you don’t mind me asking–are you studying in a foreign languages school? I know no other school that provides courses for international examination.

I can so relate (not the Asian part but the everyone-else-in-my-math-class-is-smarter-than-me part). Not only am I in a honors math class, but it’s a junior-level math class (with only one junior and like twenty sophomores, because that’s just what my school is like) and everyone is a genius/future rocket scientist who actually enjoy math and are capable of understanding it. It’s terrible.

ohh I love those kinds of tests, in sixth grade all our grammar quizzes used these bizarre sentences about various people in this class, it was amazing.
Love one another.

My question is , why are all of y’all in these classes if you don’t know what’s going on with them? Couldn’t you take regular maths? Please explain, I am genuinely confused (I don’t know how these things work).

That’s a good question, I wish I had a better answer.
1. In middle school when they stuck me in the advanced math program I didn’t complain because the advanced math classes had the best teachers. By the time I got to high school, I figured there was no point going back to grade level math because that would mean repeating a year of math I already did which would be terrible.
2. Taking honors classes is more or less an expectation at my school.
3. I’d probably have just as much trouble in regular math as I do in advanced math, but in advanced math there aren’t very many kids who are struggling, so I have a lot more opportunities to get help.
4. If I fail my placement test in a few weeks I won’t have a choice anyway

It’s pretty relevant since I go to an international school, and all the lower math classes have at least 5 foreign students (I’m Asian too). This obviously doesn’t apply to every Chinese person, but the parents of my classmates make them take a bunch of extra classes.

It’s a bilingual (English and Chinese) school. It’s pretty standard for foreign (not Chinese) parents to send their kids to super fancy private international schools, and I’m in a less fancy one.
