I like rain too, but we’ve been having a lot of it lately and it’s just nice to have some variety in the weather, y’know? Also sometimes when it rains my rabbit’s hutch floods which is no fun 🙁
As for thunder, I wouldn’t mind it at all, but it terrifies my poor dog and so I despise it.

It’s a surprisingly nice day for February, so I’m sitting in my granny’s conservatory writing an essay and listening to Rubber Soul .

@Beatlebug why is it ew? I think it’s kind of nice. (not criticizing, just curious)
Because it’s WINTER. The weather should FEEL like WINTER*. I could not stand to live in sunny California, the South is bad enough.
I’m very particular about everything in its season
*this does not apply to the Southern Hemisphere

If you mean snow snow and below-zero temperatures, you’re out of luck, but if you’re looking for weather in the 30s-50s and a crap-ton of rain and hail CA will suit you fine. Most days. Yesterday was just a fluke.

You just want to listen to your rain music

Well technically it’s not winter there when it’s winter here, so why shouldn’t it apply?

^Oh, okay, that sounds okay.
Because it’s not winter here while it’s winter there. When it’s winter there (and summer here), I fully expect it to be wintery.

FYI it’s been unseasonably cold here the last two weeks – around 20C most days, and for the middle of summer in Australia, that’s weird.

That’s a fantastic temperature, don’t complain!
Who said anything about me complaining? I was just stating that’s weird, that’s all.

Anyone surprised to see Abbey Road as the only Beatles album in the RYM top 10?
https://rateyourmusic.com/customchart
I feel like 2-3 years ago there were 3, and now Radiohead has 3. I do think the Beatles got hit pretty hard from spam accounts compared to most artists over the last couple years.

RYM is full of people just getting into music more seriously who are naturally drawn to a band like Radiohead who are accessible enough to easily get into whilst being experimental enough to get them credit for liking more arty music. I wouldn’t take the top charts too seriously – the fact that In Rainbows is above Kind of Blue says it all, really.

Good news in my life: I got 100% on a math quiz! Yay.
Bad news in my life: I have to retake a math test tomorrow at lunch in a classroom full of people eating, meaning there is no chance I will be able to concentrate and very little chance that I will keep my sanity intact. Also, my knee has decided to go on strike, and my mom has decided to limit the amount of time per day I can listen to music.

Why on earth would she do that?
Sorry ’bout your knee, hope it gets better soon — it’s a very important joint.

Ah, she’s worried that I’m going to get “permanent hearing damage” from having earbuds in. It’s very irritating.

Thank you, I hope so too. Although it did get me out of PE!

Ah, my mum is the same way and I admit that’s a reasonable fear if you’re listening to it very loudly all the time; but I’ve managed to assuage my mothership’s fears by assuring her that I always listen to music at a moderate, fairly low volume (which I do, most of the time, unless otherwise called for on brief occasions of detail-hearing or Zeppelin-blasting but it’s sustained loud music that’s bad). (and also I would just listen to music anyway no matter what she says, behind her back if necessary — I’m a stubborn ass )
I also try to listen to music on speakers whenever possible — both to give my ears a bit of a break and so as to better brainwash umm share the love with those around me. Perhaps you could come to some kind of agreement along those lines?

ah but I’m not, I listen to it at like 1/3 volume and I have told her so

I tried. Alas, she will not listen.

Same here. Fun fact: I’m not technically allowed to use electronics for non-homework purposes during the week. And, well, you can see how that worked out.

That would drive her to insanity, no joke. I don’t think she realizes that I more or less listen to the same songs every single day.
Perhaps you could come to some kind of agreement along those lines?
*sigh* maybe. It’s unlikely but I’ll try. Thank you for your help though
