Glad to hear you’re feeling better and that the Beatles helped being you back up when you were down.
Welcome to the (honestly now quite disproportionately large) club here, @QuarryMan
The coolest club on BB!
Hope you’re feeling better, @TheWalrusWasBrian . Life might seem like it sucks sometimes but there is so much beauty out there, and you can always talk to us here 🙂
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Glad you’re feeling better Walry (it keeps trying to autocorrect to Wally, why do these things happen )
Annnnnnyway, my English teacher got a job as a vice principal at another school over break, and so now we have a whole new teacher. Last period was like the first day of school all over again. I don’t know how the old one is planning on controlling an entire high school of students and teachers when she couldn’t even control a classroom with 30 reasonably competent 10th graders. But I’m low key glad she’s gone because our new teacher is much better.
Love one another.

To get back on topic, i haven’t been doing much lately. Today i’m trying to learn the solo to Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy, it’s pretty hard considering how there’s multiple guitar parts.

My tongue hurts.It’s so weird………
My favorite snack is pretzels and I love to suck on them until they dissolve in my mouth. If I eat too many pretzels my tounge will hurt. Same with sour skittles. I love snacks with salt or sugar in big grains.

Oh, god, sour skittles… they’re so good but they kill my mouth…
thank you for your thoughtful analysis, it probably was something I ate.

After a few days off at Christmas, it’s back to crazy hours and days (19 days working out of 28 – may not sound a lot but a lot of shifts are 14.5 hours long remember), hence my continued absences from this forum. One day it will return to normal – tho I’ve been told that for many a month.

My brother is right there with you mmm, although the max he’s worked are 12-hour shifts. He’s currently on his work placement at a private hospital so he’s less run-off-his-feet as he would be in a public one.

Anyone who goes into care work for any other reason than wanting to help people is an idiot. You can easily earn more doing far less and having far fewer responsibilities, stress etc.
The care sector is screwed tho. No matter how much money gets pumped in it will never be enough.
I’m strange in that I prefer the long shifts as you know you’re in all day and can get on with it all, half shifts are far worse. But I’m strange in so many ways, hard to figure out is the nice way of saying it.

Tell me about it, Irish nurses and midwives are going striking at the end of the month because they want pay-increases of €2000. Starter wages for a newly-graduated nurse are €24,000- an absolute joke, especially when compared to jobs where you just sit on your arse all day answering phones.
Our idiot government thought the people would be on their side and not want to give the nurses an increase but you only have to glance at a hospital or nursing home for 5 seconds to see they rarely get to sit down for a minute. Even student nurses and midwives are doing 1000s of hours of unpaid shifts during their 4 years in university, in comparison to me when I’ve done feck all but will probably get paid more than my brother when he graduates.
With an aging populations, things are only going to get worse, and especially with medicine being improved-on so much that a lot of my generation will probably live to a 100. More hospital beds occupied, more nursing homes needed, more pensions- the whole system will collapse in about 40 years.

I’ve just finished virtually attending, via the cosmic blessing that is YouTube, Led Zeppelin’s January 9, 1970 concert. I’m not sure that I have any brains left — I think they’ve all been melted and/or fried away; I literally sat slack-jawed through the entire show, which just kept going ON and ON and revealing new and greater heights of awesomeness when one thought it couldn’t get any awesomer. I’d been saving it for such an occasion for quite some time, and I can’t think of a better way to have celebrated Jimmy Page’s birthday.
