Spent part of the afternoon wi’ the lads rehearsing for our friend’s upcoming graduation which we’ll be providing musical noises for. We’ll be playing our very own Beat Brothers’ ‘With A Little Help From My Friends ‘ and ‘Changes’ by David Bowie during the ceremony 
and it was ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL to hear someone else besides me singing ‘Do you neeeeeeeed anybody’ after singing it alonely, wishing for backing vocals, for ten years (save for the Beatles Bible Band cover of it).
(Believe it or not, I didn’t choose the setlist! 
The songs were actually selected by the graduating-friend and his mother. My friends have good taste 
)
The after-party sets include (among others) ‘Love Me Do ‘, possibly ‘Here Comes The Sun ‘, Pink Floyd’s ‘Money’, and several other David Bowie songs of choice. ‘Space Oddity’ sounded so good with enough people to have both the lower harmony ‘Ground control to Major Tom’ and the coutdown.

Offline It is referendum day in Ireland. By tomorrow afternoon we’ll know if the lives of million Irish women are changed for the better or will we have to continue to export our healthcare over seas, as usual.
If you know anyone living in Ireland who has the vote can you check-up on them and see if they’re voting (they get bonus points if they’re voting ‘yes’)?
I’ll be back again tomorrow either jumping for joy or crying my eyes out.

I know, I’m so pleased. I’m quite sick with a head cold so I went to sleep at 9:30 before the exit polls were out. I woke up at 2am, checked them, and started crying with happiness. No longer will women have to go on boats or planes to seek the care they deserve in their own country. No longer will they be treated as vermin or criminals and have backs turned on them when they are in need of help.
I was going to post in the ‘I Read The News Today’ thread (I might post in it later to preserve it in history rather than on ‘IML’ where I will never remember where it was) but thanks to anyone and everyone who read my post on that thread a month ago and to anyone who may have donated to the ‘Yes’ campaign. The ‘No’ campaign were despicable with their constant misleading actions and words, and I’m so happy that most people didn’t accept their BS as truth.
Ta to everyone for their support and well-wishes. Legislation should be passed hopefully by the end of the year.

Offline I actually managed to arrive early to class today (English 112 if you’re interested) and got to chat with my prof about Beatles things a little bit.
I was wearing dark shades along with my sixties-gear because I’d heard we were going to watch Bob Dylan videos in class and I wanted to be suitably attired, and my prof was talking about someone he knew who liked to guess which students had stayed up all night writing their papers, by the dark circles under their eyes maybe? and he asked, ‘[Beatlebug], is that why you’re wearing shades?’ and I said, ‘No, actually, I’m being Bob Dylan today’ 
‘Ahhh, I get the impression that you have a thing for Dylan, do you?*’
‘Alas! I don’t really know his stuff that well**, I mostly know him through his influence on other artists.’
‘Which artists?’
(and also David Bowie, ‘Song for Bob Dylan’ and that)
I also mentioned the Beatle Burnings later, when we were discussing a few events of 1966 (relevant to one of the readings, which was set around that time and dedicated to Bob Dylan), and Paul’s reaction to John’s death as an example of what may seem like a callous reaction but is actually that of someone in too much shock to be articulately grief-stricken.

Offline I seem to have got a bug. Spent the day mostly sleeping on the sofa or waking up to vomit in the bucket I’ve got by the sofa for that purpose. Haven’t eaten since yesterday so god knows how I’m still finding stuff to bring up. Still managed to be sick about ten minutes ago.
Luckily I’ve already got a doctor’s appointment Thursday about other things, so if it hasn’t cleared by then I don’t need to worry about getting an appointment.
Probably be asleep again soon as I’m struggling to stay awake. Hopefully feel better next time I wake.

Offline Just passing by.
I’m currently on half term holiday and still have much revision to do for the two weeks of further exams I have after this short break, so don’t expect to see me on here more often just yet. Of course, the music of the Fab Four (with a little help from The Beach Boys and The Monkees too) has been getting me through this exam period, and I’m quite grateful for it! Ah well, back to revising.
