I got some kind of crummy news yesterday.
Last time I went in for a checkup at my doctor, he felt a lump in my neck and suggested that I get an ultrasound. There was definitely a nodule of some sort. He referred me to an endocrinologist. She told me that these things are usually nothing and there is only a five percent chance of it being thyroid cancer. A biopsy was done about two weeks ago. After a week’s wait, she more-or-less told me that the result was inconclusive. My samples would be sent elsewhere in the country and more analysis would be done. The endocrinologist called me yesterday and told me that it came back as “suspicious.” The chances of it being cancerous have been bumped up from five percent to fifty percent. She referred me to an otolaryngologist to discuss future options. Most likely, this is going to end with me getting half my thyroid surgically removed whether it is cancerous or not. The upside to this is that, as the endocrinologist told me, thyroid cancer is “so treatable that it’s basically curable.”

Offline @SpecialCup: I’m doing great thanks. Had a check up last month,and got the all clear again. 2 years cancer free for me now. Had to go through surgery and chemotherapy,but I beat it. I was lucky

Offline Is it any good?
I think the recent trend of giving films catchy little one-word social-media-ready titles like ‘Brave’, ‘Tangled’, ‘Frozen’ was a bit stupid. Evidently Disney realised that it was terrible for branding (‘Merida’? Who’s that?), and stopped doing it. Moana was just Moana, thank goodness.

Offline Sorry about barely being around the last couple of weeks or so. I haven’t been too well and have been needing to take of myself. Got very close to an enforced stay in hospital, which was something I really didn’t want. The pressure of the last few weeks, months, came very close to dragging me under but I’m getting back onto firmer ground again.
It’s very difficult having struggles with mental health, and sometimes you have to put yourself before others, which is what I’ve needed to do. I’m still wobbly, but nowhere near as much I was.
I hope to get back into things this week, but am taking it one day at a time.
I’d like to thank @Ahhh Girl and @Into the Sky with Diamonds for their phone calls. It always helps to know you’re not quite as alone as you sometimes feel.
So sorry to hear your news, @Necko. Hoping for the best, but even if the news isn’t what we all hope for, cancer can be survived – as I’ve already shown. Hell, all the health problems I’ve had, like some cockroach, I’m still standing. You’ll do the same, my friend.
