Home and dry (even if a bit drafty).

I expect to hear about some interesting meal you whip up with your new cooker when it is operational.

Woo! Scary as s***e night!

Opera told me there was something lurgee, then Avast told me it had blocked something lurgee.

Went onto Origin, got a Sims 4 update.

Started Sims 4, kept getting stuck.

Decided to crash and restart, only it wouldn’t restart.

Feckin’ feckin’ worried at this point.

I crash it again. Leave it for a couple of hours. Purposefully turn my back on the unco-operative technology!

Then, when I restarted it around midnight, it came up with a diagnostic. I tried a restart.

Didn’t work.

Left it for a while. Tried again, and gave me a choice of restart or advanced options.

I went for advanced options.

Only choice reset and pray.

For about forty minutes I stared at it at 3%, from about a minute in, praying whatever was fecking would be defeated by this drastic step!

In all, it took about 7 hours. Nasty didn’t feel Nice, but prayed to Leggy Mountbatten. He’d always liked the trousers.

Every app gone, so lots to download to get fully up and running again, but thanking the gods that reset worked against whatever deviance had got through the walls. Should have taken that Avast check when it asked me…

I just finished recording a cover of ‘Wish You Were Here’ — a proper, straightforward, guitars-and-vocals cover. It sounded really nice and all that.

When I was finished, I got bored with being serious, so I put wahwah on EVERYTHING a-hard-days-night-john-6a-hard-days-night-george-9a-hard-days-night-ringo-10ahdn_ringo_09beatlemaniacs_02_gif

Seriously, I haven’t laughed so hard in years. It sounds like I fought a slug and lost.

I only have half a day of school tomorrow before the two week easter holiday! (Although I will be leaving a little later than everyone else because I need to be recorded for my music perfomance by the teacher, but that’s still cool.)beatlemaniacs_02_gif However, there is much revision that will have to be done in that time, as there are apparently 19 days until GCSEs begin when we return in April, so that kind of ruins my plan to sit around listening to The Beatles/Beach Boys /Monkees for two weeks… a-hard-days-night-paul-3

My cooker was finally installed today. The last thing that needed doing to get the flat up and running again. There’s only so much can be done with a microwave and convection oven.

I had a beef short rib marinading in mushroom ketchup with a dash of wholegrain mustard and a good glug of Merlot much of the day. Taken out to drain a couple of hours ago, then coated in a mix of sea salt and mixed peppercorns, and sealed. Now on a rack with the marinade in the bottom of tray and covered in foil slow cooking at 120 for a couple of hours, so it’s falling off the bone.

To go with, a chopped up portobello mushroom, half-a-dozen halved chestnut mushrooms, some smoked bacon lard-ons and a chopped shallot, fried off in smoked rapeseed oil, then dash in another good glug of Merlot and a small dash of mushroom ketchup to create a sauce.

And a sweet potato and wholegrain mustard mash.

So, there you go, @Ahhh Girl, I’m testing the new cooker from the start.

It has conventional oven, upper heating element, lower heating element. I’m trying just the lower heating element to see if that will give the short rib, cooking in around the middle of the oven, a bit of an extra woof as the marinade slowly cooks up through it.

You did want to know what I was going to do on the new cooker, didn’t you? a-hard-days-night-george-10
