I have a French speaking exam tomorrow, which runs past the time I leave school. I’m a little nervous, but at the same time, feel like I know what I’m doing. (I’ve got my mind set on vous/tu!)
Do what I did with my French exam: say three random words then walk out saying you’re done. I hated French because I, and a number of others, were written off after one class in First Year and made to waste god knows how many days and hours of life (four f*****g years of French lessons) by stuck-up tossers who acted like we were worthless pieces of unteachable crap.
[I’ve had to edit that due to the very nasty words first used.]

Hope you’re feeling way better very soon, @AppleScruffJunior, and good luck with your examen de français, @SgtPeppersBulldog – hopefully you’ll parle très bien.
I was meant to be out of my flat for five days while they did some work on it. Today is day 14 and Nasty is mightily fecked off. The worst part is that the gas in the flat I’m camped out in has a massive debt being taken off of it. Didn’t bother me too much when I was only having to use it for hot water, but the heating has been eating it this weekend with the 10 degree drop. I put £7 on it yesterday, and £3:13 went straight to someone else’s debt and another £2-ish disappeared as well, leaving me with £2:10 of gas. Heating chewed that up, meaning I was down to 35p gas left today. So I had to put another £10 on, and it took £4:47 for someone’s else’s debt, with another £2-ish disappearing because it’s on emergency leaving me with £3:10.
I’ve only got the thermostat on around 15, so I’m not looking to be hot, hot, hot, just don’t want to freeze, and am far from happy that I’ve had to put £17 on in two days, and £7:60 has instantly vanished on someone else’s debt. Feckin’ ridiculous!
I will be having words over that with my Housing Officer tomorrow!
Hopefully I get my flat back on Tuesday, maybe Wednesday.

If I’m remembering correctly, didn’t the council move you out? If so, you’ll be fortunate if you’re back in before Christmas. Best you go on a cruise, just don’t budget that £7.60 into your spending money; you’ll be filling in forms and waiting at the end of a phone until next summer.

Housing Association, @meanmistermustard, but same difference.
The flat is actually ready for me to move back into, and has been since last Monday, but they decided to replace my cooker and fridge with a new cooker and a fridge-freezer, which were meant to be delivered last Thursday, with the cooker installed on Friday. The delivery fecked up and has been rearranged for Tuesday. Hopefully they’ll get it right this time. I could move back in without the cooker as I have a halogen oven and microwave, but the lack of fridge makes it more difficult.

My head and neck feel strange and kinda hurt, though I haven’t got a clue as to what it could be, therefore I can’t really do much of anything about it. To boot, I’m tired and have 3 things due tomorrow (only one of which I was actually able to finish; “you shouldn’t have to do much homework because you’ll have plenty of class time to work on it” my arse ).
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

Aww I feel ya @WeepingAtlasCedars. I had a dream a few nights ago where I had to write several thousand words of prose fiction by that night — inspired, I am sure, by similar recent real-life experiences.

Update: I think I messed up. It was being recorded, so I was under a lot of nerves, meaning I stuttered a lot, paused for awkward amounts of time and missed out a few important points. At least it was only a mock – the actual thing sounds like they will want me to talk about a lot more! But at the end of the day, I’m not letting it get me down whether I pass the real one or not because I intend to learn French in my own time after I leave school and have the GCSEs sorted.
On much lighter note, I was listening to the live disc of Ummagumma yesterday (I was going to listen to the studio one, but my dad got home and wanted the telly on). I really dig the live version of A Saucerful of Secrets on that one (I imagine Nick must’ve been knackered playing that drum pattern over and over!), but I didn’t like all the screaming on Careful With That Axe Eugene.

At the moment it seems the delivery of my cooker and fridge/freezer has fecked up AGAIN! They have the cooker but not the fridge/freezer. Feckin feckin barstewards. It’s the lack of fridge that is preventing me being able to get back to my flat. Why couldn’t they have waited to dump my old fridge until the new one was in place? It wasn’t great, but it worked and I’d lived with it for 20 years. I was so looking forward to going home today, but am instead left hanging on to find out what’s going on.
Feck! Feck! Feck!
Update later…

Update on me: I went to the doctor’s this morning. I was given 3 options: pregnant, anemic, or I’m getting over a virus. Now it’s not the first two (thank Christ), so it’s most likely the latter. I had bloods taken* (I didn’t faint although I felt dizzy afterwards) and the results will be back next week.
Doctor said if I’m still like this in 2 weeks time to come back again.
All in all I was there for about 10 minutes, and have €60 less in my pocket. CURSE YOU EXPENSIVE IRISH HEALTH SYSTEM!!!!
*I am also really sad I wasn’t offered a lollipop for being such a good patient, the last time I was at the doctor’s was about 14 years ago and I got a lollipop then 🙁

RN – been there with appliance delivery screw-ups…arghhh. Hope you are settled in home soon.
ASJr – Hope the blood work comes back with the best possible results. Hoping it’s something easily cured…like bacon or a ham.
As for me, we are FINALLY getting a decent snowfall! Up until now, we’ve had weak storms of maybe 2 – 3 inches that would melt the next day. Zag & I are both cozy and warm as we work from home. Took the dog for a long walk in the snow earlier (thinking of you the whole time @meanmistermustard !). Expecting about 9 inches of the white stuff. Yippeeee!!!!!!

Nasty is back home. At Last. After a couple of not good days.
Still no fridge-freezer, but am assured it arrives tomorrow morning. Fridge food out on balcony. Seems cold enough for a night. As well as the cooker being wired. And the toilet being taught to flush again, so I can stop having to chuck a bucket down it, of water – not the actual bucket, which wouldn’t help.
Also have to have the front room door replaced asap. When I left, it had a bottom and top half, now it only has a top half. Not ideal. Especially in a draughty flat.
Nice gift of “welcome home” book about Dylan from @Ahhh Girl.
Despite all the trammels, and that there’s still much that needs doing, there is much improvement to the flat.
EDIT: Though still wrapped, the cooker looks a great improvement. Looking forward to the fridge-freezer. Been told that between them, they’re worth £1000.

Hopefully it has good ice-making capabilities.
