I just got a (well-used) Martin D-15m. Now dad can have his guitar back.
We had the wonderfullest jam…
I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THIS POST. I HAVE FOUND IT. YEY YEY YEY.
Now I know what my Martin-anniversary is. I can now put it on my calendar and not be treating my guitars unfairly by commemorating the anniversary of one and not the other (even though, I must admit, Sadie is my love in a way that Martin can never be. Does that make me lesbian, or is it just because electric guitars are just cooler? ).
I feel better now.

Nearly three years old! (Or more, depending on how well used)

Noooo, me dear fellow, my Martin is from about 2002, so that makes him*… what… sixteen? Wow. And whoever had him before I did use him quite well.
But yes, it’s coming on three years since I’ve had him (wow, that sounds a jolly long time), and also about three-and-a-half since I started playing guitar.
*I could never assign gender to my guitars until I named them, and then it made sense.

To me, my Martin is my Treasured guitar, and my Fender is Secondary, although I still love it to death

I understand, although it’s the opposite for me. I feel like my Martin ought to be more belovedest, but that’s not how it is.
Although in the end it doesn’t matter, I love them both to pieces anyway!

Today, I quite stupidly stayed behind after school for nearly an hour and a half waiting for my teacher to come back into her room to review my work (she got called away to a long meeting beforehand, and I have a feeling she sneaked off home afterwards). It was nearly fecking dark when I finally gave up and went home!
Other than that, I have been on a Bowie kick recently, so I might be posting some newfound favourites in that thread very soon.

I’ve never had to do jury duty yet. I got the note saying that I was selected a few years ago, but I called in and they said that I only needed to go in if my last name started with A through M. My last name starts with O.

I could be chosen to sit on a jury for a trial. Most everyone who has registered to vote can be called in for jury duty. I have to show up at the court house on the day stayed in the letter I received. Then I might be selected to answer some questions. The lawyers on each side will try to determine if I would be a good juror for their side of the case. From there, I might be selected … or not.
How are jury members in Australia selected?

It would appear that it is a similar process in Australia, though it differs from state to state. They only select maximum 1000 people per year, randomly.
It sounds like a wonderfully fun job, and a princely waste of time!

All you have to do is say you’re prejudiced against all races, religions, and ethnicities (including your own). Bam! No jury duty for life!

I found my jury service most interesting. Guy taking potshots with an air rifle from some flats at workman on the other side of the railway lines.
Someone else I shared a house with at the time also got called at the same time. He was less enthralled with the case he got. Dirty old man flashing himself in a public toilet.

I served on a jury many years ago in Mississippi. I was the 14th person chosen which means I was an alternate. If two of the 13 chosen before me had gotten sick or had another reason to leave the jury, I would have had to sit in on the final decision meeting. Luckily, all 12 original jurors stayed until the end of the case so I was dismissed when the jury went in to make its final decision.
The case was about a two year old girl who had been bitten by a dog. The dog was on a leash in its owner’s garage. The family of the little girl wasn’t supervising her time outside. She wandered into the garage and tried to pet the dog while it was eating. The dog turned around and snapped at her and tore a piece of her lip off. The jury didn’t award the family of the little girl any money because they said that the parents were negligent in the care of the little girl.
I actually knew the owners of the dog. I told the judge I knew them. He asked if that would keep me from making an impartial decision. I said I’d be able to be impartial.
After the trial, I spoke to the owners of the dog. They said that they had offered to use their homeowner’s insurance to pay for the little girl’s surgery, but the family refused it. They were looking for a payout. The louts.

Trying to come up with ideas for my first song/composition so I can have it ready before February 6th, as that day I start classes again and I won’t have as much free time, as well as so that my two teachers can check it. Then, I will search for a Contralto voice without vibrato and specific range (which I think is going to be hard to find).
I am also recovering from the orthognathic surgery of almost three weeks ago; still can’t feel a few bits of my face and slight pain in the lower part (mainly due to the cold weather we are having over here) but otherwise I feel fine.
