Then what made you think the yellow tint was the weird one? Maybe you’d gotten used to the too-white screen for so long.
Because i’ve never used a computer with a monitor that has a yellow tint, all of the other monitors that i have used were perfectly white.

I’ve been recording bits of what shall be my first song once over the last couple of days and it was so much fun!
Although I can’t play the bass at all I borrowed a double bass from a friend and played roots and fifths and occasionally some grace notes all the time which probably sounds very boring. Nevertheless, it was so much fun to play around with this very limited toolkit I currently have that I ended up recording no less than 47 different bass parts!
The next problem was the lack of a drumset or really any percussion instruments so I went into the kitchen and played everything that is capable of producing a percussive sound: forks, empty glass bottles, pots, boxes filled with rice,…
A lovely time I had.

That sounds fun, I’ve had a swing at recording songs myself a few times and it can be really fun, i wish i knew what instruments you used. When you say 47 bass parts, you mean 47 takes right because having 47 bass parts in a song would be very weird, that’s about 1 bass part for every person who played on A Day In The Life .
Also, if you don’t have a drum set, there’s 3 other ways to get a percussion sound:
1. Non-drum set percussion instruments, such as tambourine, bongos, cowbell, and or maracas. The Beatles used these instruments in several of their songs.
2. Handclaps, as well as footstomps, these get the job done very well. The best example of this is the most popular rock song of all time that isn’t by The Beatles, Queen’s 1977 smash hit We Will Rock You.
3. Tapping an acoustic guitar, this is how the intro of Why Don’t We Do It In The Road was recorded.

Thanks for the tips Dark Overlord! I’ve indeed used handclaps as I love them in songs! We have bongos as well which I also used but that’s about the only percussion instrument I have access to. But the tip with the guitar sounds quite good, I will definitely try it.
As for the instruments I used: keyboard, double bass, various percussion-like objects + handclaps + bongos, voice, saxophone. I’m thinking of adding some guitar chords but since I am still so bad at playing the guitar I’m not sure whether this would be a good idea.
And yeah, 47 bass tracks, you’re right. Sorry!

That sounds like a good mix of instruments, you could also use the drums from the keyboard if you’re keyboard has drum sounds in it. Also, the next time you go to a music store or even a thrift shop, i recommend getting a tambourine, you can find them for very cheap if you look around for them.
As for adding some guitar, the great thing about guitar is that you can have a very basic guitar part like these songs.
Or go full out like these songs.

One more thing you can do is ask one of us on the forum if we’d like to play a part in your song, I wouldn’t mind throwing a guitar part and i bet there’s people here who wouldn’t mind throwing in some drums or some other instruments like French horn.
Anyways, to get this thread back on topic, I had Taco Bell for lunch and i got Dave of beatlesebooks to fix some instrument inaccuracies on his site.

Might not be the best idea of me to talk about this here but then again, i don’t see why not.
I’m really f***ing pissed off at my younger brother right now because he was using my computer and he unplugged one of my monitors. Me and my other brother always get mad at him. I wish i knew how to calm down, i really have the urge to beat him up but i can’t because i don’t want to get in trouble.

Thanks, it certainly was! Uhm, I used my laptop mic because I haven’t got anything else to record with except for my phone and there the recording quality is even worse.

I’ve been having a persistent cough for about a week. Staying up till unholy hours last night watching The Song Remains The Same didn’t help me much.

Nothing special, went to the high school to get my diploma because I refused to walk across the stage and I also switched back to using my brother’s Windows 10 laptop with Internet Explorer.

My uncle entered the hospital last week. I’m not sure how much I’m allowed to say and where the line where I’m violating privacy is. Let’s just say that he’s undergone multiple surgeries and it’s serious enough for me to be worried.
He finally went home on Monday.
