School starts tomorrow…. I really am not looking forward to it.

Good luck, Faceo! The anticipation is (usually) worse than actually going.

I hope so. Nice avatar, by the way.

Thanks… It’s temporary, should probably change back soon, been there a while.

Hope you can check in more, even though school is here.

If I spoke prose you'd all find out, I don't know what I talk about.

It’s never as bad as you think it will be, a few hours in and you’ll be messing about with you mates in class dying for the teacher to shut up and the bell to ring – then it does and the sense of joy and freedom is incredible.

Today was the first school day after summer and I was late. Man when your late they just torture you , first they make you stand outside school gate for 30min than you gotta walk round school ground 3x and at last some scolding by principal/ Head of Department.I don’t know who gave this idea but it came a month before vacations, as i knew i was late and panicking and to diverge my attention i started humming Ballad Of A Thin Man and when I reached school the best thing happened…School Was Closed For Today. ahdn_george_06a-hard-days-night-john-6

I found out that I left the checkbook that I had intended to pay for my textbooks in the campus bookstore back home in Illinois.  So I got my textbooks off of Amazon.  Now I’m waiting for them to come in the mail.  Meanwhile, I can’t do most of my assigned readings.

I'm also ewe2 on weekends.

Does the library have any of the books for checkout? Perhaps a classmate will let you copy/scan/take pictures of the pages you need right now.

All of this talk about being late for class and waiting for college textbooks makes me REALLY glad I graduated and that I’m not in school anymore. a-hard-days-night-ringo-13

Well, most of them are expected to arrive on Wednesday, so I’ll probably just wait.  They are not in the library.  I’ve thought about the classmate thing and attempted to do it.  The issue with it is that one of my classes only has five students (including myself) and I only know one of them.  I attempted to have him bring me the books and have myself copy them, but he didn’t come through for me.

These days, so much of my classes have (for better or for worse) readings on the Internet and sent through email, so I have some readings that I have been doing.  I’m taking a “History of Music in the Western World” class that the only requirements for homework was to reread the syllabus and listen to a couple classical pieces.

I'm Necko.  I'm like Ringo except I wear necklaces.

I'm also ewe2 on weekends.

Yes we did and it was a blast!! Since it was a miserable rainy day and the event was outdoors (the grandstands were covered, thankfully), we decided to just go to the finals on Saturday night. We got there at 4PM and grabbed a bite to eat, then roamed the grounds and “oohed and ahhhed (girl)” over the magnificent Mustangs. Not going to the preliminaries the day before or earlier Saturday, we had no idea whether or not our friend Nate had made it to the finals. It turns out he did, so that was very cool (only the top 10 trainers make it to the finals). Also in the top 10 was a trainer who was in the documentary Wild Horse, Wild Ride. His name is Jesus Jauregui, from Wisconsin. He was one of my favorites from the documentary and I got to meet him! That was a thrill for me and I told Zag it was like meeting a rock star. Anyway, Jesus took 4th place and our friend Nate finished in 2nd place which was awesome. After the competition, we stayed a while longer to watch as the Mustangs were auctioned off. Nate’s horse was highly sought after. All in all, it was a fantastic night and I hope to see many more Mustang Makeovers in the future. For anyone even mildly interested in horses, this is a “must see” event.

Yes!  I can share now, I’ve today accepted a great new job and given my two weeks notice at my current job! While I’m sad that this necessitates moving out of New England, where I’ve lived all of my life, it’s only a 5-6 hour drive away. Big pay bump, lower cost of living, much bigger and better company with room to really take off in my career…nervous but excited at the same time! My wife and kids are psyched, too, so overall it looks like it’s going to be a big change but a really positive one.

Great news @DrBeatle, delighted for yourself and the family for this new exciting chapter. Hope you have a really good celebration over this. Can you provide a little about the job, even just a rough idea of what the job type is (plumber, finance director, media dictator)?

Thanks! Sure, I’m a PhD organic chemist with a focus in materials chemistry, the last few years I transitioned into a more chemistry/chemical engineering position and this new job takes me further in that direction. Still doing chemistry but with a focus on applying it to new engineering technologies. The company I’ll be working for is one of the largest electrical connector and contact metal coatings companies in the world! These are the parts that go into everything from smartphones, tablets, and computers to engines, appliances, medical devices, and datacomm equipment. Very exciting and cutting edge stuff :)

Thank you for the information, tho i think i’ll be struggling to understand it all for many years to come, it sure sounds complicated and brainy.apple01  Sounds like the ideal development in life – more money, lower living costs, better company, better job – a real no brainer.

Will you be able to send us the latest iphones, smartphones etc? I’m contactable thru PM.a-hard-days-night-john-5
