Good luck @WeepingAtlasCedars on your poem!!
So Prom number 2 happened last Saturday and it was great! This Saturday was supposed to be Prom number 3, but I’m no longer going, because of drama reasons. That was the prom that I was guilted into anyway, so maybe that’s for the best. Then finally after a year, my band teacher twinned with me. We have the same Billy Joel shirt that we got when we went to the same concert(separately). I’ve been asking her to twin with me since last May, and I finally got her to do it. Also my mission call was supposed to come Yesterday or Today, but it still hasn’t arrived. Hopefully it gets here soon.

Thank you all! I think it went pretty well, I got a good handful of compliments.
I, however, did not pretend the audience was naked.

Congratulations on your performance with your poem @WeepingAtlasCedars!
Over the last few days, I’ve visited a school in Copenhagen with the Big Band of my school. We played a concert together with their jazz choir and also some pieces on our own. Because two of our saxophonists had got sick a short time before our trip, I had to change between soprano, tenor and baritone saxophone all the time which was rather exhausting but a lot of fun, too.
All in all, the trip has been simply amazing. The concert was successful, Copenhagen is a beautiful city and it was very interesting to get to know our Danish host families. One highlight was the last evening when we all sat together and talked about music. Suddenly, the music teacher had the idea to sing something all together and so he handed us a paper with lyrics on it and -of every song he could have picked- it was With A Little Help From My Friends ! That was so heartwarming I couldn’t help singing along loudly (and probably out of tune).

I’m always so jealous of people that can play an instrument. Sometimes I think of buying an electric guitar and trying to learn to play it but I just don’t have the patience or motivation. Or money for lessons.
You should do it. Who needs lessons when you have the Internet?
Seriously, I don’t find learning guitar requires nearly as much patience as, say, piano, and I never lack motivation because playing is its own reward. That’s just me, though…

You play guitar? How long would you say it takes to get good enough to be able to learn a song?
I did attempt to learn acoustic at school when I was about 10. My teacher found it difficult to teach me though because she wasn’t sure how to teach left handed chords. My playing always sounded a bit strange. And then I think she got fired, so no more lessons. Also asked for a keyboard a few years ago thinking it couldn’t be so hard to teach myself….which did not turn out well.
My mum gets annoyed when I show an interest in playing an instrument because of all my failed attempts. Maybe when I move out I’ll buy one and actually get proper lessons this time. Then I will achieve my dream and be able to play The End …

@HeyJules it’s an amazing idea you have there! And you frankly don’t need any lessons as @Beatlebug already said. I’ve just started learning to play the guitar a few weeks ago and one way I found fantastic is https://www.justinguitar.com/. You learn so much over there and if you take the Beginner’s Course on this website it is as good as having lessons. After a few days, you can already play basic chords like D, E, and A and that’s when you are able to play your first songs, actually. The more chords you learn the more songs you can play, of course, but you will be able to play your first songs pretty soon.
You should really try it, it’s such a beautiful feeling to be able to make your own music but maybe Silly Girl is the better person to tell you.

I had a look at the website and it seems great. I wish I’d known about it when I still had a guitar!
Focusing on college really should be my main priority (my assignment work is so poor it’s questionable how I’m still on this course) but I’d love to learn when I get the chance. I’ll definitely use the website you recommended.

Don’t I, though!
You can start learning simple songs right away — it’s the best (really the only reasonable) way to learn new chords and get good at strumming them and that. Getting better (all the time) mostly means that you get better at learning. No matter your skill level, you can probably learn any one song and master it if you practise it enough, I think, but as your skills improve you’ll actually get better and faster at learning new songs, not to mention improvising.
I was probably an unusually fast learner as I already had some knowledge of music theory, but I think it was about six months before I felt comfortable enough to learn an average song off the bat. I have been playing for about three years now, and I am only just getting good enough to realise how much room I have for improvement.
I don’t know how long it’ll be before you can master The End (which I haven’t attempted myself); it depends on how quickly you pick it up, how diligently you practise, etc. I’d start with simply learning chords and simple songs that use those chords. Beatles ones are good — they use your basic chords for most of the song and then throw a Spaniard into the works just for kicks.

Stupid things that Necko did that you should never do #6:
I graduated college in December 2014. One class I was taking was a course on music theory/form/history (particularly in the baroque, classical, and romantic periods). At the end of fall break, I realized that I was missing my textbook. I figured that I left my textbook at my cousins’ house hundreds of miles from school. The final two months of school was a gigantic headache. It feels like I tried and failed to get permission to photocopy each of my classmates’ textbooks. On multiple subsequent visits to my cousins’ house, I tore the house apart looking for the stupid book. I was convinced that it was gone forever.
Today, I was looking through my old laptop case. I found the damn thing! It was undoubtedly right under my nose many times I searched for it. I worked my tail off to get by without a textbook for months when I didn’t need to.

Anyone care to explain to me what on earth is going on or how to rectify this.
In conversation with someone i work with on WhatsApp which took a strange turn last night when a question was asked by the individual. Today it remained just as weird, on both sides, turned a bit more back to normal, then went back to weird. Asked tonight for some understanding and the reply has left me just as highly puzzled.
I don’t get people, tell me it straight and don’t get it all complicated?. I’m tempted to text
“I’m tired of playing games with you” from ‘Fish on the Sand’ but instead quoted
“Living is easy with eyes closed
Misunderstanding all you see
It’s getting hard to be someone
But it all works out
It doesn’t matter much to me”
Will no doubt add to the confusion. I don’t understand and I’m very tired.

On that note, I had no idea Montana was that far north.
