I got a bass guitar! I’ve been saving up for years; I’m so glad it’s finally happened. I can’t seem to stop practicing. I hope I don’t wake anyone with my late-night jamming.

Congrats! I’m pretty happy with my latest axe-quisition but I aim to get a bass someday.

Vacation until the 27th!! Over the past few days I accomplished the following:
-Got Rocksmith for my PC….it finally got my proper guitar out of its case for a bit, and will continue to do so as I get better. I currently suck very bad at it.
-Got my car’s oil changed.
-Decreased my phone bill by about $10.
Over the weekend I will accomplish the following:
-Close on a home re-fi, yay!
-Celebrate said closing with a Sgt. Pepper cocktail or two. =]
-Get ready to go back to work on Monday. Yay.

Great to see your fondness of Paul McCartney ‘s bass playing and therefore your entry into owning a bass guitar but I just have to ask, what model is it. Don’t worry The Hole Got Fixed, you’ll be able to afford one soon and if you can’t you can either play the basslines on guitar like what The Beatles did on I’ve Just Seen A Face , Drive My Car , Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da , While My Guitar Gently Weeps , Old Brown Shoe , Two Of Us , and Maggie Mae or do what I did and repurpose a guitar as a 6 string bass by detuning it an octave and adding super heavy strings, although I would only do this if I have multiple guitars and one of those guitars I am not particularly fond of. SgtPeppersBulldog, if you mean that Moriz will just stand there shaking his bass around instead of actually playing, that would be funny and also, why would a video of Paul McCartney shot recently still be in black and white, I mean we’ve had color film for about just as long as we’ve had talkies and color has been the de facto film type since about 1958. Finally, Morori78 I would be careful what Beatle album based cocktail I celebrate getting Rocksmith with, nothing worse than having a Les Paul and celebrating with a Sgt. Pepper cocktail or having a Gretsch and celebrating with an Abbey Road cocktail, if you’re celebrating with a Sgt. Pepper cocktail, make sure your guitar is either a Strat, Casino, J-160E, and or Esquire so you’re not celebrating something related to your guitar with a cocktail related to a Beatles album that your type of guitar wasn’t used on. Just kidding, celebrate however the hell you want, as long as it doesn’t involve killing or seriously injuring anybody I’m fine.

How? I don’t have any income. I can play basslines on a normal guitar though, or play them at school on a bass.
While My Guitar Gently Weeps was played on a fuzz bass, wasn’t it? Drive My Car definitely was on a bass.

Drive My Car was on bass but then George doubled the bass on his Strat. As for While My Guitar Gently Weeps , I’m not sure if it’s 2 bass parts separated by octaves or a guitar doubling the bass, but you can hear it, especially in the chorus.

I’m fairly depressed right now, it’s an on and off thing, especially ever since this whole getting suspended from Facebook thing (by the way, it might make me feel better if you tell me whether or not you know anyone who got banned or suspended from said site within two weeks or less of joining), sometimes I wish I just stayed as HMBeatlesfan but it’s too late for that now.

I don’t have a Switch, but I do have a Wii U, and I have seen a couple reviewers on YouTube say that if you have a Wii U and want Zelda, to go ahead and get it for Wii U. I’m so tempted, as that is the only game I would be buying a Switch for, which would be wasteful at this time. I’m waiting on Zelda a bit, partly because it’s out of stock for Wii U everywhere I look anyways.

I am really worried about my friend A. (don’t want to say the name, of course, and he/she will be a she in the following text) at the moment. She has a severe depression and is sitting in her room all day doing nothing, not even eating or drinking. She stays up until two or three o’clock in the morning (On school days) every night and if she continues to work like that she is going to fail the final exams though she used to be a very good student.
In the last couple of weeks, she started to get herself sick on purpose by going outside shirtless with minus degrees and not eating, drinking and sleeping for days. However, she then came to school anyway and refused to take any medicine. This behaviour lead to her having life-threatening pneumonia and she was also talking about suicide on several occasions. Another friend and I have already tried everything to help her but she is isolating herself further and yesterday she got incredibly drunk alone in her room, came to school with a hangover and sucked at an exam. She is getting drunk regularly but normally not all alone in the middle of the week.
Therefore I am really desperate because I don’t know what to do and her parents aren’t doing anything as well. Another friend and I planned to go to an advice centre but that is our last idea and if it doesn’t work out, we will have no way left to help anymore. Have you maybe got any other idea? I am so worried!
Sorry that the post was so long and emotional!

Maybe tell someone at school like a teacher. From an outsiders perspective, this could be considered parental neglect so you could call the authorities like police if the advice center doesn’t work.

The parents are not neglecting her on purpose; they have to deal with three other mentally unstable children and are divorced. Additionally, one also drinks a lot. Perhaps talking to a teacher could work although we have had bad experiences with them but better than nothing. Thanks anyway!

Sorry to read about your friend. It seems like an intervention of some sort is in order. I think notifying an authority (one whom you trust and who likes your friend) at school sounds like a good idea.
It’s hard to go on when life seems pointless. Also, when we are teenagers that part of our brain that allows us to see long term consequences of our actions is not yet fully developed. She may not realize how much she is really harming herself. Also, she may not be able to see that she is stronger than her circumstances and that things will eventually get better. Of course, when we are depressed it’s hard to see that no matter what age we are.
I’ve been through difficult times where I was so depressed I didn’t care, and the only thing that turned me around was realizing that even if life is inherently meaningless, I can find joy in creating my own meaning.

It sounds like mental illness runs in the family – could be environmental or genetic. Your friend most definitely should get professional help. It may be impossible to persuade him or her to get help on his or her own, but it never hurts to offer to help him or her find that help. Reaching out to the parents may feel like a dead end but it is worth a try. Your school should have mental health resources, it’s a question of getting your friend to avail his or her self of them.
Express your unconditional love to your friend as well. Love does a lot to help all manner of healing.

Thank you all so much for your advice it was really helpful! As you said @Expert Textpert she doesn’t see a meaning in her life and doesn’t care, therefore. She probably needs a passion in her life and since she enjoys listening to music maybe I can persuade her to learn an instrument? I have now decided to try to speak to her again after we went to the advice centre. We should be more honest with each other and talk about the problems rather than only carefully indicating that she might need some help. If my other friend and I show her how much we love her and care for her and that we are really worried and then give her some serious advice like the hotline @Ahhh Girl mentioned then she may change her mind. We will also try to maybe accompany her to an advice centre because I doubt she will go there alone. If this all doesn’t help we will have to talk to her parents or a teacher as you said, maybe the priest in our church is also a possibility.
Thanks for the support, I am now more confident again that my friend and I can get here out of the dark hole she is in right now!
