Well I just had to give up the Beatles for a week just this last week(except for Paul’s Classical albums and the B side of Yellow Submarine ).
If you think SWR is crazy, I’m going to have to give up the Beatles for 2 years in just a few months. I’m leaving the nest to go preach the gospel to wherever the lord calls me. I may take Paul’s Classical albums on my mission, but it depends on what my mission President will allow musicwise.

Right, because listening the Beatles and every other not-Christian band causes people to lead a life of sin and inequity.
So much for you. What’s the point of leading a life if you can’t serve God and be happy at the same time.
Preachers are only messengers, and they’re no holier than the rest of us, they just make out like they are. Who are they to govern what you listen to

Well it’s not like I can never listen to the Beatles again. It’s only 2 years. These 2 years are basically the tithing of my time on earth currently. While I serve god, I should probably be listening to church music and not pop music. It’s not that it’s bad or evil, but it’s not the most spiritual thing. Also while on my mission, there probably wont be a ton of time for me to listen to music anyway. I’m going to be up at 6, studying the scriptures at 7, and out the door to teach at 9, then I get back at 9pm and am in bed by 10. Yes it’s going to be a challenge, but when I come back I’ll come back to a whole rest of my life with Beatles music(and 2 new archives….Please Paul don’t pull another FITD delay while I’m gone).

If you want to give up your time for God and life and that means the Beatles go then good on you. I did the same, not because anyone said I had to but because I wanted to (that’s not a Look At Me boast, it’s to say that it’s possible and others have done it for similar reasons so you’re not some insane madman. Some will Look At Me as some madman for doing it at all). It may sound strange to others but you have to do what you believe is the right thing to do at the time regardless of what may be said.
I will add that I gave up the Christian music (well 99.9% of it) but let’s keep this positive instead of inane ramblings of a man and his past.
So all the best for the 2 years and if we see you back here during or after the 2 years then we will be very happy.

Kendall Payne is the only artist I found during my time away from the Beatles music that has remained with me since. Matt Redman was another of my favourites, he started out different to the rest of the scene and changed Christian music but over time his music became the same as everyone he influenced. By the time I was slip sliding away the whole Christian music scene was very monotonous – maybe that was just in me.

*Cough* *cough*
How is non-spiritual classical music any more spiritual than popular music?
Anyway, not being overburdened with serious spiritual considerations, I wish you the very best, with undisguised gladness at not undergoing any such thing myself.
The most spiritual I’ve ever felt was while listening to some music which could be termed popular, or generally non-spiritual.

Oh no now you have The Book of Mormon soundtrack in my head, let’s just hope you’re not sent to Uganda!
It’ll be sad to see you go WSC but surely George’s music is spiritual enough. He doesn’t express any particular love to a specific deity so you can always take it as the Christian God (‘cept for the song Brainwashed, unless you’re not Catholic, then you can criticise the Catholics).

Well I’m glad that I’m not the only one on this forum that gave/is giving up the Beatles for a few years for God . It is my choice to go on this 2 year mission. It was my choice to join my church 3 years ago because I felt that it was right. Don’t worry friends, I’ll be back on here after I come back, and I’ll be the same White Album loving Billy Shears that you all know and tolerate. I’m also probably not leaving till Augustish, so you have me for a few more months.

And then I’ve also gotten likely acceptance (read accepted unless I don’t graduate) to Yale along with an almost full scholarship.
That’s brilliant! Very well done. What will you be studying?
I’ve just finished writing part one of my book (first draft). Three chapters, 62,406 words. I’ve mostly finished a couple of chapters of part two, but the three others are barely started (total word count is over 115k at the moment). I’m really pleased with the progress, and I’ve contacted a designer to enquire about cover artwork. Wheels are moving.

A couple of questions Billy:
1. How would’ve they known for the Chick Fil A gift card that you really didn’t use internet/music/TV/etc. or if you just said that you did, kind of stupid when you think about it
2. Why are you going on such a long mission
3. You should try to ask your mission president if you can listen to The Beatles, I’m pretty sure he’ll say yes, it isn’t like heavy metal or rap where someone would have a legitimate reason to disapprove of it, Actually the teacher at Sunday School used to play The Beatles in front of us when I was a kid and everybody likes The Beatles, even Ned Flanders, someone who takes Christianity so seriously that his children are practically brainwashed and he follows the bible word to word. If anything, classical music is the music they shouldn’t be allowing you to listen to classical music because you can claim that classical music is devilish just as easily if not easierly than The Beatles, remember it’s 2017 not 1957 and rock music is no longer thought of as pure evil
4. If he says no, is there anything we can do to prevent you from leaving the forum, it would be sad to see you go and none of us want another Matt Bubsy happening
As for you Starr Shine?, I doubt Billy Shears would shine a positive light on homosexuals if he went on this mission because the bible hates them and it seems like Billy’s going to be taking his religion seriously although if it helps, everyone except for devout Christians are fine with gay people nowadays, so we can find a new concept to accept, here’s a list of 5:
1. Incest
2. Muslims
3. Drugs
4. Nudists
5. Integrated prisons
Maybe you should try posting more.

The bible hates clothing made from two diffent fabrics as well and has a section on proper animal sacrifice techniques.
Though I doubt he is gonna preach thoese.
He would be in a place where he can improve some peoples lives and teach people.
Jesus taught love, Billy Cambel should too.
