39C? It’s raining in Melbourne! And 19C! Hope your aircon is working!
It was, then we had storms and lost power. Way too sticky @Beatlebug.
Oh, and this forumite is discussing weather like a Welshman

That’s true, it is dry as a bone down here, but that doesn’t really make a big difference in the really high temperatures. I don’t want to be outside when it’s 110, humid or not.
Agreed. That was the temperature when I moved to Canberra, not much fun 😉

Went a-travelling today… to the zoo, in fact.
Am now stalking Friar Park on Google Maps. Getting the guided tour of that place is on my bucket list of improbabilities. ‘Olivia, I’m not creepy, I promise, and I won’t steal any master tapes or anything… show me around?’

I hope you reminded her of the policy.
It is heartily enjoyable to remind bosses that you cannot or must do something due to a policy or procedure in place so they can’t argue against. Gives a warm feeling inside. I love how in care work there are buzz words such as choice; if used in the right way they get you away with all sorts. Small victories.
She was already aware of the policy and why I might follow it. I wasn’t being written up, so it wasn’t really that bad. But it felt like a slap on the wrist. She was saying that “common sense” should dictate that I would stay late.
Work in general is incredibly stupid.
Anyway, now I have “prior approval” for next time.
Until you do use your common sense and you’re pulled up for breaching company policy. Either way you get it wrong so do what feels right.

Yeah, you’re right. The policies seem to be suggestions anyway, or maybe they only apply when it suits them.
Policies apply at all times, it just so happens that they come before or after common sense and circumstance depending on what you did, why you did or didn’t do it, how different managers view the situation and what mood they are in.
I got told to do one thing by a manager only to be told off for doing it by another. I also followed one manager’s advice only to find the advice I was given was insanely incorrect and led to repercussions (tho thankfully not for me as I had followed the advice I was given, even tho it was wrong).

Stupid things that Necko did that you should never do #5:
Last night, around midnight, I went upstairs to brush my teeth. My dad was sleeping across the hall and he always leaves his door ajar. As such, I made sure to not turn on any lights. I had to get something from my room. I walked towards my room.
*THUD*
The door was closed and I had assumed that it was open. I walked straight into a closed door. The next day, I found out that it was so loud that I woke my dad up.

So I went to go visit a dear friend of mine today, and he gave me an early birthday present.
He works at this books store, and they were going to throw it out so he took it and gave it to me. It is used and a tad bit beat up, but for the low low price of free that I and he paid for it, I’m not complaining.
He also had a couple of copies of this random translation of the New Testament that he didn’t really want, so I took one.

You could do some audio mixing on your computer so all the sound comes out of the left.
If you can't log in and can't use the forum go here and someone will help you out.

@SgtPeppersBulldog That is a real tragedy. Best wishes for the speedy recovery of your earphones.
However, you can still hear David Gilmour’s chuckle in ‘Shine On You Crazy Diamond’ right before the second line — it’s in the left channel.

I spent some time colorizing this picture, it’s not perfect, but I think it turned out nice.
As for SgtPeppersBulldog, I recommend getting a new pair of headphones and or using your computers speakers (if it’s a laptop, they’re built in, if it’s a desktop, they’re not). I personally recommend getting a cheap but effective pair of over the head headphones, as there’s so much hidden in Beatles songs that you need headphones to hear, such as John and George’s guitar parts in Got To Get You Into My Life or if you get a pair with good bass, you can hear Paul’s great basslines better.

Crisis!!!! My right earphone broke! Now I can’t listen to the right channel which has Beatles vocals on it!
I feel your pain! My FM radio aux cord now only plays on the right side unless I angle it right. I just put my iPod in mono audio mode, so I don’t miss any sound if the chord goes to the wrong angle.

I had a pair of headphones like that. They were also broken, though not irreparably so (I patched them up with orthodontic rubber bands ) but they’d always break again if I dropped them (and I drop them all the time, hence their breaking in the first place ).

Happy 8000th post in this thread!
@SgtPeppersBulldog, audacity makes it very easy to convert stereo tracks to mono, and boost the bass, and all sorts of stuff.
As for Ohhh Boy, send him my deepest condolences, @Ahhh Girl!
