I have 13 out of 15 days off of work and it’s not holidays. I need time to detox; I cannot remember the last time I had 3 days off in a row since the middle of July.

I went to see Big The Musical today (based on the Tom Hanks movie). I have never seen such a dead audience in my life, I don’t think any song bar ‘Coffee, Black’ got more than polite applause. One of the actors who came out, actually mouthed “wow” to one of the other actors at the lack of applause they were getting. They are good actors and the choreography and staging was brilliant- it’s just the script itself is dead, comedic timing wasn’t done as well as it should have been, the child actors weren’t that great or capturing, songs were not memorable- the second it was over you’d forget what had just been sang etc. I asked the people I was with a few hours after the show if they could remember any of the songs, the answer was “no”.
They ended up getting like a 1/4 standing ovation but I sat sitting because I didn’t think it was that great.
Poor show in general- 6/10, purely based on the book and score- yeesh. If it’s coming anywhere near you, save the money and don’t go to it. The only truly great bit was the children’s chorus who kicked ass in every dance they were in, so bravo kids.
I’m just saying, I amn’t surprised that it is one of Broadway’s biggest losers and it hasn’t been performed on any major professional label since the mid-90’s. Will be interesting to see how it gets on in the West End this year and will it close quickly or be a success for years, time will tell…..
Oh well I have Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Spamalot and Blood Brothers to look forward to in the next few months, which will all be fab I’m sure.

Offline I am detoxing from work and people. Talking time but will get there. Enjoying my freedom, laziness and not having to get up at 6:30am in the morning. There are things I need to do, I may get around to them.
I do wonder if my quietness at work is an issue but I’m not able (and willing) to discuss TV, celebrities, films or pointless happenings like buying a sandwich in Boots during the day, nor am I afraid of silence and need words to fill it.
I went to someone’s house for dinner, very kind and appreciated being invited, and it didn’t go well as they wanted to talk about TV shows and stuff tha I had no idea they were going on about. I’m not suitable for going around people’s houses and talking for hours.
I’m at peace with all that now having let it destroy me for years.

So, today is my first day of self-employment. The kids have been safely packed away, and I’ve been getting stuck in to stuff all day.
…and in truth I haven’t done a whole lot of writing! I’ve been setting up a new site, which will be similar to this one but about one of my favourite stars of all time. I registered the new domain name yesterday, 8 January. @Zig is going to love this one. I’m sure you can guess who it is. As soon as I’ve got some content to share I’ll do the big reveal.
Not that I’m abandoning this site! I think I’m going to start by filling in some gaps in the history section – and yes, @Ron Nasty, that includes Cyn’s birthday, which for some reason I never did. I also want to do things like the UFO John saw in NYC, and Paul’s drugs busts in Japan and Scotland. There are some really good stories I haven’t touched yet.

Offline It took me a trip to Namibia during winter holiday but now I’m finally in love with While My Guitar Gently Weeps . We heard the song for the first time as a cover version during the trip when a disbanded group got together again after many years for some live music in a local restaurant and time stopped for a while. For a moment there I imagined it was the Beatles casually playing together again after many years..

Offline Gosh, and I thought I’d an exciting day… 
Mod advisory: meanmistermustard cannot view this post beyond this point until fluffy white frozen precipitation reaches his habitation! 
Silly Dad, Little Girl, and I packed our snow saucers and warm clothes and drove to the mountains for the express purpose of finding a super fabulous snow-covered slope.
We did.
I’d never seen so much snow in my life — amazing what a thousand feet elevation can do.

Offline I might have a job as a gardener and dog walker soon, provided the person (my aunt) doesn’t try to scam me. The second she starts saying she “owes me” instead of paying upfront, I’m out. I am in desperate need of money and won’t do labour she could do herself for free, family or not.

. I’ve written to the Head of French now so hopefully I’ll be able to do a new grammar section for them or worst scenario have to do out another exam. So bloody annoying.
Surely that’s their screw up so your A should stand, not your fault they are incompetent. I’d be kicking up hell at having to do any additional work to get the same grade I should have had if whoever it was wasn’t so useless.
I have Tetley tea having run out last night. Life is back to where it should be.
