CDs are obsolete, so there’s no point in using them. Personally, I’d recommend to ditch CD’s and just use YouTube, but those goddamn greedy b******s at UMG UK decided that The Beatles shouldn’t be enjoyed by the average citizen. Fortunately, there are other sites that include these songs. However, if I were to go with a physical medium, I’d go with vinyl, as it is the classic format and it is what The Beatles intended their music to be listened to on. Considering how many people like The Beatles, you could find some records at a yard sale or on the curb or at a thrift store for 50¢.
CDs may not be ‘the latest thing’ as they were ten or fifteen years ago, but they are definitely not obsolete. If they were truly obsolete, nobody would sell them, no one would release albums in that format anymore, you wouldn’t be able to find anything to play them on… but this is not the case.
In my opinion, they are a fine medium — more portable and durable than vinyl, and you can actually own them on a physical format, as opposed to streaming songs over the Internet (cos what happens when you don’t have Internet connection, eh?)
Vinyl is more fun, though, and I agree with you that it’s ‘The Beatles – As Nature Intended’.
Zig smiled
No worries, SG. I still buy CD’s in a “record store”. Now that vinyl has made a comeback, I can call it a record store again without being mocked…more than usual.
Silly Girl shouted back at @Evangeline
I was referring to my CDs as well (‘record’ as in ‘recording of this music’) so that’s well more than ten.
It may interest you to know that I did a count of my vinyl record collection, and it comes up to precisely eleven.

Nope, you will rarely ever find Beatles records in the thrift store. I live in an old people town and you would think there would be thousands of Beatles records. None, zilch. If there were, they definitely wouldn’t be anywhere near 50 cents.

You could definitely score some dirt cheap (free) vinyls if you know an old person who has some and they are moving into a retirement home center and need to get rid of all their belongings. That’s what happened to me.

You could do that same thing with your records if you get a fancy record player that does that.
My dad got one of those to digitalize his vinyls but he only ever used it once to digitalize his “I’m a Believer” 45. We decided it was easier, to just buy the CD’s. Also the audio is not the best when digitalizing the vinyls.

Even in 2000, CD’s were obsolete, as people like myself were using sites such as Napster to get music. I’d say CD’s were the new hip thing 25 years ago. Also, I don’t know why people still make CD’s, as no one wants to buy them. Also, they still make Nintendo and Genesis games, does that make those things not obsolete as well. And if I were in an area that lacks a wifi connection, i’d just use a radio or TV.

Maybe nowadays, but if you walked into a Goodwill back in 1989, you’d see quite a few Beatles records for dirt cheap. I wouldn’t be surprised if I passed by a couple of 2nd state butchers being sold for under $1 while I was going clothes shopping.

I love getting CD’s! I have a lot of music on digital, but every Now And Then its fun to buy a CD. Even better, I like cassettes. My car only has a radio and a cassette player(it was bought in ’98 and a CD player was extra so my parents didn’t get it). I have an FM aux cord so I can plug my iPod in, but I love making mix tapes and playing them in the car. I only have like 3 blank tapes that I use, but I want to buy more.

It’s kind of distressing to find out that CDs are obsolete and have been for a very long time. As an old person, it’s become pretty annoying to live through all these format changes (especially when I start asking myself, for example, “How many times am I going to buy Abbey Road ????”). And now I’m worried that, as an old person, someone’s waiting around for me to decide to unload all of my stuff so they can pick up it cheap!!
So with about 1000 vinyl records and 2000 CDs sitting on bookshelves and in boxes in my den (and counting), y’all can start making plans! Question is, who gets the 12,000 or so songs stored in the hard drive of the desktop that I no longer use? Or the 10,000+ songs parked in my cloud drive? Hmmmm…..

George Harrison is so lucky, although to be fair, he was in The Beatles and is an great underrated guitarist and singer. What I used to do back in the 70’s and 80’s is either bring my record player in the car and hope to god we don’t hit a stupid bump that pisses on the record or I used to covert my records into tape by playing it from start to finish in a quiet room and it sounded awful. I wonder if any of these car players can play 12 inch vinyl.

If you’re a collector, there’s the:
1969 Vinyl release
1969 8 track release
1969 Cassette release
1969 Reel To Reel release
1978 Capitol reissue
1987 Vinyl reissue
1987 Cassette reissue
1987 CD release
2009 Vinyl reissue
2009 CD reissue
2009 iTunes release
And who can forget the mono Reel To Reel release
In total, that’s a total of 12 Abbey Roads that you’d want, although you should probably just stick with the 1969 Vinyl release for now.

I have four versions, not including digital (one ripped from the 1987 CD, plus the Amazon Prime stream, so I “bought” neither), 1969 vinyl, 1987 and 2009 CD, and 2012 180 g remastered vinyl. I actually returned the remastered vinyl because my copy sounded like crap — I pulled my 1969 vinyl off the shelf for a A/B comparison just to assure myself that I wasn’t crazy (as I am definitely going deaf) and found out that my original vinyl actually sounded pretty good, pops-and-scratches-wise. Returned the defective copy and got a second one that sounded just exactly perfect…so I’ve had two of the 2012 vinyl, but currently only have the second one.
Four or six is quite enough!

My whole family has been eating green tomatoes that didn’t ripen before summer was out. So far I’ve had: sautéed green tomatoes, green tomato pie, pickled green tomatoes, and green tomato soup.
I hate tomatoes, I never want to see another one as long as I’m breathing.
