A lot of older fans are surprised when they see young people getting into the Beatles, but I don’t think they should be. I mean, the original fan base was mostly teens –> beatlemaniacs_02_gif

I guess the younger fans are more likely going to be the ones on Internet forums. I think our Forum has a pretty even mix of under-thirty and over-thirty members, though.

And quite a few over 50 ….

What do you do in band camp, I’ve never heard of it before.

So I go to the school at like 12 noon, and we do 4 hours of practicing our music, then we do an hour break, then 3 hours of marching in the hot Las Vegas sun

Wait a minute. You’re in a marching band, not a rock band. There’s nothing wrong with being in a band that consists of brass instruments walking around, but I just don’t like that kind of music.

Maybe you should try posting more.

It’s interesting, especially considering the majority of 1st gen fans that are just as big into The Beatles nowadays as they were in the 60’s were born around 1962. Also, I’m pretty sure the age demographic The Beatles were going after was 10-30, although their music can be enjoyed by all ages, even from 2 year olds.

On Thursday, I will be leaving on a little trip.

My aunt has a job which involves temporary job assignments all around the country. Her current assignment is ending. I will be flying out to Seattle, Washington on Thursday. I’ll do some touristy things in Seattle on Friday. On Saturday onward, I will be helping her on her drive back home to the Chicago area. For those not in the know, this is a 2022-mile (roughly 3254 km) drive. I will be driving through Washington, Idaho, Montana, possibly some of Wyoming, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, possibly some of Wisconsin and Illinois.

We’re thinking of making a few stops along the way, but it’s kind of a “we’ll see where we stop when we come to it” sorta thing. Mount Rushmore has been discussed, as it is right on our route.

I just got back from this trip with my aunt and her dog.

I tried to record While My Guitar Gently Weeps today, but the guitar was too trebley and my vocals were nearly inaudible — a pity cos it was my best performance of that song ever. (I neeeeeed some proper recording equipment! a-hard-days-night-ringo-14) Then I had some bashes at Every Night , which worked better, but while the first couple takes were good, I kept making mistakes after that, and then I got interrupted. Ergh! a-hard-days-night-paul-3

Still, it was a fun excuse to play one of my most favourite McCartney songs* over and over. a-hard-days-night-paul-8

Well @William Shears Campbell

I recommend going to a Beatles tribute band and making them a business offer. I’m sure they’d love to have a brass band backing them instead of a stupid ass keyboard for songs such as Got To Get You Into My Life , Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Strawberry Fields Forever , Penny Lane , and Ob La Di, Ob La Da.

1. That looks like something straight out of King Kong.

2. Were you listening to Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones while you were there.

3. You got some balls to show your identity, I’ve gotten into fights over refusing to give people my first name.

4. If I could, I’d cover that Jolly Green Devil in chocolate, anthrax, and sugar and send him straight to hell where he came.

Cool pics, Necko. I haven’t been to some of those places. It was nice to get those shots of the lead-up area to Mt. Rushmore. That’s a pretty dog too. Glad you got to have this experience.

Sounds pretty cool Evangeline hope you have fun with your family.

Also, Silly Girl won’t be in this thread for another few posts so we can say secret stuff like. .

Her dedication to her guitar is awesome that she is able to stick with something like that and teach herself all of those songs and sing while playing.

(Martha: I could have edited but I am trying to get to the next page faster)

Also, Silly Girl doesn’t deserve the compliment. She probably wouldn’t be so dedicated if it required much dedication — she only does it because she enjoys it above pretty much all else. Piano, now, that requires dedication (which is probably why SG’s forays into piano-playing are sporadic at best).

Had the party last night from 6pm to midnight. We decided to go theme less, just give her money, and my brother decided invite our sister, although she chose not to come. Instead, the people that we invited and that came were, not counting people who live there in the first place and in chronological order, my uncle, my childhood neighbor’s son, my 1st wife’s older brother, 3 of my older brother’s friends, 2 of my friends, 2 of my cousin Bill’s friends, my 2 nieces, my oldest daughter with husband and 2 kids, my 2 oldest sons, and my 3rd youngest son. For music, I decided to let my older brother pick it out and he decided to put on some Beatles records (I think it was Sgt. Pepper , Meet The Beatles, Abbey Road , and The Beatles, though I can be wrong) and after the cake and presents (about 9:30 to 10:00), me and some other people decided to go in the house and play some songs together. This is what I think we played. Sadly, my brother said no recording, therefore I can’t show you what we played. Even if I had a recording, I wouldn’t show it to you because it was all on the spot with lots of mistakes and most of us were intoxicated as all hell.

Tie Your Mother Down

Come Together

Night Fever

Highway To Hell

Help !

No Matter What

Hotel California

We Will Rock You

We Are The Champions

Hey Jude

Songs that I think we might have played as well, but I don’t remember if we did or the order (the performance was about one and a half hours):

Crazy Little Thing Called Love

Back In Black

Barbara Ann

Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting

Revolution

Got To Get You Into My Life

Lineup:

me on lead guitar and backing vocals (acoustic for Hotel California)

my older brother on drums and backing vocals (lead vocals on Hotel California)

my cousin Bill on bass

one of my older brother’s friends on rhythm guitar (lead for Hotel California)

one of my older brother’s friends on lead guitar

my 1st wife’s older brother on lead vocals and piano/keyboards

my former neighbor’s son on lead vocals for No Matter What and possibly Revolution

the rest of our friends and my oldest son on backing vocals/handclaps for Hey Jude

I’m in Frankfurt airport at the moment, the woman that I’m staying with me told me to ring her when the plane came in. So I did…..no answer, they don’t even have a voice mail that I can leave a message on. So now I’m stranded at the bloody arrivals section (anyone in Frankfurt can come say hi, I’ll be the pissed-off looking girl with the leather jacket and the laptop).

I swear to God if I’m stuck in Frankfurt, with nowhere to go, I will be (quiet rightly) pretty angry. I mean my flight was delayed by an hour but surely she’d be here now, it’s nearly an hour since I’ve arrived and there’s been no sign of her :/
