I’d recommend the Casbah, @Mademoiselle Kitty >^..^<. You can book a tour there. They’re usually done by Roag Best, brother of Pete and son of Mona and Neil Aspinall. He’s a bit of character and some of his stories big-up Pete and hint at untold tales, but the Casbah is about the only surviving example of somewhere they played a lot that remains virtually as it was. If you want to see their roots, there is no better place to look at where they started as a band,
If you’re going to do one of the tours, I’d recommend a Fab Four Taxi over the Magical Mystery Tour bus. You know the scene in MMT where it’s, “…and if you look to your left,” the bus tour seems much like that. We were able to things like stop at places, get out, explore, take photos, while more than once we saw the bus park briefly, people take their photos through the window, and the bus move on.
For instance, St. Peter’s Church, you want to see the back field where the Quarrymen played and Paul watched, the Eleanor Rigby gravestone, John’s Uncle George’s gravestone, the hall across the road where John and Paul met. AG and I got to see all that close-up on the Taxi tour while a MMT bus pulled up in the road for about 30 seconds to get photos of the front without anyone seeing anything that matters about the place to Beatles fans.
When we were seeing Ringo’s house we even got to go into the Empress pub (pictured on the front of Sentimental Journey) and have a quick relief break and sink a half.
In fact, you can book a Fab Four Taxi that includes a visit to the Casbah.
Really hope you enjoy your time there, it’s a wonderful city.

Cheers, @Ron Nasty. I’ve been reading about your and @Ahhh Girl’s adventures in Liverpool. Very jealous! From what I’ve read so far, there is so much to see and do, it’s a good thing we’ll have a few days to explore and even then we’ll have to make choices. But yeah, the places where it all began are a must-see, of course. I’m glad I’ve decided to bring this up now rather than wait until a few months before we go. This way, I’ll have plenty of time to compile a list of places I want to see, and figure out when to do what.

That’s the unfortunate thing, @Mademoiselle Kitty >^..^<, there’s always more to see. I know there were places high up on AG’s list that we didn’t make it to last time we were there, like Brian’s grave and Percy Phillips’ studio (where the Quarrymen recordings were made).
Looking forward to going back in October to be in Liverpool for John’s birthday, and maybe with another couple of BBers joining us. If that ends up coming off as we hope it does, maybe we can call it the 1st Beatles Bible Liverpool Convention!

If you’re going to Brian’s grave @Ahhh Girl don’t forget to bring a stone from where you live. I think it would be a nice touch rather than just some random stone you find in England.

And remember your own stone if you’re able to make it, @AppleScruffJunior. That would one of things AG would want to do on the Sunday you may be with us. It won’t be a train journey though. If @Ahhh Girl wants to do it, we’ll be jumping in a cab.

A certain place for that day, @Ahhh Girl, will be a return visit to the current university accommodation that all those years was the hospital John was born in. If we’re going to be in Liverpool on the anniversary of John’s birth, we have to visit where John was born that day.

You’ll have to be quick – only one piece left – we had an early birthday dinner 😉

Someone can have mine, I don’t like birthday cake. I’ll eat the crisps instead.
So i informed work today that I may leave when my contract expires in September as I need something permanent (plus I also am heavily tempted in upping sticks and moving somewhere far away and new as I need to find a new place to live but i didnt say that part. I want a challenge and adventure.); my team leader promptly informed me that a position was going and she would happily speak to her boss to see if I was eligible for the vacancy. Service Users like me for some dopey reason -they must be utterly mad. A few weeks ago I was hoping my 3 month contract was going to end (it was automatically renewed for another 3 months), now there is the possibility I could be a proper contracted f/t worker there. The world is screwed up.
You make a decision in life and days later it all gets complicated again. How anyone ever does anything big in life if they actually think it thru and then discuss it is beyond me. I’ll still apply elsewhere anyway and see what comes back.
Still need to figure out where I would like to live.

That’s too bad, mmm. I hope it all turns out well for you in the end!
Still need to figure out where I would like to live.
How about Canada? There’s forest-y bits, lakes, badlands, mountains, and interesting wildlife. Also, (depending on the place) there’s cool stuff to enjoy, like wine vineyards and fossil-y stuff and seafood and the like. It’s also a lot less populated than the US, and Canada is a tad bigger as well.
I could go on and on, but I’ll just leave that up to you.
