So sorry about your grandfather @meanmistermustard. He has lived a VERY long time, though, and that’s definitely something to celebrate.
If you're lonely (or not!), you can talk to me. .....Hey! Are you a new member on this fine forum and don't know where to go to introduce yourself?
Well, you can do it here! Dig it?

Thanks all for the messages of support since my slight return!!! I’m feeling stronger by the day, and if I have my way I’ll be going home Friday.
Gave them a bit of a scare earlier (hee-hee!!!). Went out onto the ward’s balcony to have my first roll-up since last Thursday morning – tut-tut!!! filthy habit!!! wouldn’t recommend – and got that head-rush you get when you haven’t smoked for a few days. As I slid down the wall there were three nurses and a doctor running out to me. “No, no,” I assured them, “just the nicotine hitting!”
So sorry to hear your news, @meanmistermustard. Seems a few of us have been having rough times. 96 is a good innings, and he may surprise everyone yet. With a life that long, and a close family as his legacy, and a new great grandchild (?) – congrats on that new unclehood by the way, he has much to be proud of, and has lived a life you should be celebrating. I applaud your approach, however hard it may be.

@Beatleva That’s great, happy to hear it went well. @Ron Nasty Welcome back! @meanmistermustard I’m sorry about your grandfather, although 96 is quite an impressive age. Thinking of you
Now can I share my news?
I went to a McCartney concert. Last night he played in a town about 4 hours away from where I live, so my dad could drive over. We bought the tickets all the way back in May, and so were able to get decent seats
He played for almost 4 hours and he even did Helter Skelter ! He can still sing it!!
Clearly someone had been able to sneak some joints in with them, because the stadium reeked of pot, and so between the 2nd and third song Paul said “something smells good in here”

Oh, you naughty boy.
Your story reminds me of a great friend of mine who was in the hospital after a minor cardiac episode (I say there is no such thing as a minor one, but I’m not the one with the medical degree). This was way back in the early eighties. My cousin and I went to visit him. As we left the car and started up the walk, we heard “Hey Ed, Hey Zig”. We looked around, but couldn’t see our friend Dave. After 2 more times, we finally looked up to see him puffing on a ciggie whilst leaning out of a window…still hooked up to all sorts of monitors.
I wish you luck in quitting smoking, should you ever decide to. It is a bitch – I’ve done it twice. Yes, I was dumb enough to start again after quitting the first time. The second time was after Zag had to have stents inserted into an artery. When the doc discovered the blockage, he asked her “Do you smoke?”. When she told him she did, he said, “congratulations, you just quit”. She did and I followed suit 2 weeks later.

@Linde That’s too bad. It’s a terrible feelingLike Ahhh Girl said, hope your doing okay
Same way I didn’t see that I had misspelled “Sorry” in my original post. I corrected it in my original post and my quote of your quote of my original post <— that was a bit weird to write out.

Great news @Beatleva to hear everything went according to plan. Any idea what you are going get him as the present?
On a much more grim note my grandfather (who is 96)’s health has deteriorated to the extent that morphine has been granted and plans are in place for letting him die at home. Pardon my language but its rather shitty news even tho totally expected. But he’s had a great life and whilst openly admitting he’s not enjoying his health problems he is very happy at home and keeps very cheerful and is great to talk to on the phone. He wants us to celebrate his life not mourn our loss.
Could be days, could be months. These are the times where a drink appeals so much.
Sorry to hear it – but 96 is a pretty good innings – I will be happy if I manage 90 in reasonable health. My dad was a bit like this at a much younger age so I know what it can be like for all concerned – best wishes from down here (and to everyone else up ^ who is going through tough times just now).

I’m alright, I had only known him for about a month anyway. Let’s just say he couldn’t be honest, which makes him a hypocrite. I appreciate honesty and I don’t like this cowardly behaviour. I won’t go into details, simply because I don’t feel like it. Oh well, he was constantly talking about himself anyway. Good riddance.

Thanks @Zig.
Not a good start or basis if the guy can’t be honest from the off. Better to get rid now rather than later on when you’ve invested more time @Linde. As Zig says you deserves better – he’s the fool so to him .

I’m so glad to hear you are just fine @Ron Nasty, and the same goes for @Mimi’s dad. But then again, also very sorry to hear about your grandfather @meanmistermustard, I hope you’re holding up okay.
@Linde, dishonest people are a waste of time and I’m happy you have moved on from such a person.
I signed in to read what’s been happening on this forum – got so much to read and that makes me so happy! Finally sitting in front of my own desktop, but somehow my room feels foreign to me. I arrived at the airport in Skopje a few minutes before midnight last night, and excluding the turbulent landing, it was a good flight. Went to sleep at around 3am, woke up at 8am to visit my friend in hospital. She was so happy to see me and I her, I spent there a few hours and she should be getting out of the hospital soon.
I feel the irony around here because I just finished unpacking, and I should start to pack again tomorrow to move to my new apartment in a week.

Good to hear you got back home safely and that your friend is well on the road to recovery @ScrambledEggs. Will you be having a moving in party to celebrate your new apartment?
