@Mimi I’m sorry to hear about your horrible situation. Like MMM said, we’re all thinking about you and wishing you the best.
I think personally think Zig’s idea was a great one, but if you’re sure your mom doesn’t want to compose a song with you, maybe you could write one yourself. That way you could show her that you still love horses and maybe you could express how much you love your mom and appreciate her. It sounds a bit soppy, but I’m sure you’ve got a better way with words than me so you could turn it into a great song. I’m also sure your mom could appreciate that. And maybe you could go riding the horses with her more often?

Hi All!!!!! Afraid it’s me again!!!!!!!
Thanks for all the good thoughts and best wishes. Sorry for the delay.
I was moved to a more local hospital to my home this morning, and a ward I know (too) well. But I have my own room with en suite, I don’t have the usual restrictions, and I’m not home alone. Probably be here till Friday or Monday. Not a bad place to spend a few days, and I know all the staff.
I wanted to post earlier but was waiting for my friend to arrive with my laptop. Which he did just after eight, and then I had to chat with him for a while while my fingers were itching (one doesn’t want to be rude to a friend).
Anyway, things went well. No signs of anything unexpected. If there are, they’ll know as they still have me hooked to a portable monitor. Just three little holes as it was done keyhole, a bit of shaping the flaps, no more leaking Mitral valve. Hopefully!!!!
Looking forward to having a bit more energy than I have had. Being exhausted to the point where you wanna just puke after a ten-minute walk. Not noticing it yet! Sleeping lots!!!
But I will be around when I can, between sleeping!!!!
Again, thanks for the vibes!!!!

I just got back from the hospital! My dad is doing fine, the surgery went well. He’ll probably have to stay another two nights, just so the doctors can keep an eye on him.
The surgery took about 3 hours and he was awake during the whole process. :0
He is already allowed to walk around a little, but he gets dizzy quite quickly, but he mostly just needs to rest right now.
My brother and me are planning to surprise him with a present tomorrow.

Great news @Beatleva to hear everything went according to plan. Any idea what you are going get him as the present?
On a much more grim note my grandfather (who is 96)’s health has deteriorated to the extent that morphine has been granted and plans are in place for letting him die at home. Pardon my language but its rather shitty news even tho totally expected. But he’s had a great life and whilst openly admitting he’s not enjoying his health problems he is very happy at home and keeps very cheerful and is great to talk to on the phone. He wants us to celebrate his life not mourn our loss.
Could be days, could be months. These are the times where a drink appeals so much.

What a great news, @Ron Nasty and @Beatleva ! Glad to hear it all went well!
MMM’s news is not so positive..but woah, 96 is quite an age! It’s a great achievement to reach that age, but of course that doesn’t change the fact it’s still very sad and tough to lose him. I hope you’ll get enough time to spend with him and enjoy the rest of the time he’s got left. I also hope you’ll get the chance to say goodbye in the way you want it. That does change things a bit. I’ve never had the chance to say goodbye to my grandpa and I hate that. Of course I’ve probably said ”goodbye” and gave him a hug the last time I saw him, but you know what I mean.

Sorry to hear that @meanmistermustard. It is always painful to know that someone’s going to die. At least he has had a great and long life. Enjoy your time with him, while you still can. I agree with Linde, hope you get to say him goodbye properly. I never did with my uncle, I couldn’t even go to his funeral which was rather depressing.
Anyway… We’re probably going to buy my dad a model train. Model railways are just a great (and expensive) hobby of his. Just like my Beatles obsession!

Thanks both of you. I saw him a couple of weeks ago, we speak on the phone once a week (at least) and i write to him weekly but he’s in in the middle of the countryside in England so its not easy to get to see him.
I couldnt do that last goodbye thing and i doubt he would want to; he has that tough upper lip spirit of keeping cheerful and life going on and would never want it to get to such a place of sadness – he’s more damn cheerful than i am. Plus we always end by saying how much we think of each other and how important family is (i know its different and difficult for others).
He wants everyone to celebrate his life so thats what we will do.
@Beatleva. I couldnt believe how expensive model trains were when i first saw them (my father is part of a model railway club). Mind-boggling at times. Sounds like a great present for him.
I just realised that he was awake the whole of the way thru surgery!! Flippin’ heck!! It was bad enough being awake to have my wisdom teeth taken out, dont think i could handle being alert to sthat type of surgery. So all credit and respect to the man.

I am late here, but wanted to say I am thrilled to hear that both @Ron Nasty and @Beatleva reported good news!
So glad to hear your surgery went “as expected”, Mr. Nasty and happy you are now on the mend! Take care of yourself.
Also! Great news that your Dad did well with his surgery too Beatleva. Hope he heals up nicely
So sorry @meanmistermustard to hear about your Grandfather. He certainly has lived a long life, but that doesn’t make it any easier. I’m glad to hear that you will respect his wishes and “celebrate” his life 🙂 Take care and keep us posted
