Welp, I’m back from my Washington DC trip. I believe I talked about this in the Beatley Moments thread, even if that wasn’t really the best place for it. I didn’t end up bringing any of the Beatles’ movies on the bus in case you were wondering, but the bus trip was 22 hours long! I decided to take advantage of all that time and listen to a TON of music. Anyway, I did get to see loads of cool stuff, including stuff I missed on my first trip. I picked up a Beatles related souvenir of course! It’s a bunch of reproductions of New York Times pages that contain articles about the Beatles. It goes from the 60’s all the way up until the mid 2000’s.

Cool! I do believe I’ve seen something like that, years ago. Nice Beatley moment it was as that was during my first period of being obsessed with the Beatles.
Had a nice morning hanging out with some mates of mine, including one whom I haven’t seen in a while so grand reunions all round. Am now practising songs which I should have been working on for the past fortnight (but I find deadlines, real or imagined, to be a great motivator).

Had a choir concert to perform in yesterday, so that’s why you didn’t see me ’round.
Though we messed up quite a few times, t’was great fun.

That’s the most important thing, isn’t it? What good does a perfect performance do when you didn’t enjoy it?
I’m getting ready for Sunday. Got some snacks for the long train journey, some cough sweets to stop my vocal cords from getting too upset with me, and I even made a sign for Paul to read (hopefully). I suppose I’m as ready as I’ll ever be!

Been having a crap week. Not for any real reason, just felt bluueerrrggghhh!!!! all week and shut up shop for a few days.
Think it was that I’ve had all these worries going on the last few months. A couple of the biggies were sorted in the right way end of last week, and the weight lifted, I just slumped in relief at not having to worry about them any more. Both were biggies because they were to do with my two sources of income.
Slump over now! All good!
For those whose emails haven’t been replied to, apologies, and will get to them this weekend.
(Ooo… my first use!!!)

I got to play bass at band practise today !!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve dreamt of bassing for years, ever since I realised that my favourite (at the time) Beatle was doing awesome things in the background that I’d never noticed before.

Glad you’re on the upswing, RN. May your coming days be merry and bright.
I found out this week that I’m going to get to go to a conference in Atlanta next month. I love to travel and meet new people. The conference hotel is near the Hard Rock Cafe. I’ll pop over there for a meal and see what Beatles swag they have.
Puts me in a mood to hear Matchbox

I love bass. One of my three favourite fishes. Did you get to wear a fishy tail and have flippers and all?

I’ve considered switching to bass too. Was it fun?

Fun?! Fun?! IT WAS AWESOME!
If you can play guitar, you can play bass. If you can’t play guitar, you can still play bass, because on bass you can get away with things.
DO IT! Right, @ewe2?
I’m thinking of getting a bass instead of an electric guitar now.

I can play a bit of guitar. My hands are very small, though, so playing barre chords and wide chords (spanning 3+ frets) is difficult. I hate C-major, though G7th is no problem, oddly enough. Even my guitar teacher agreed my hands are rather small and he’s the kind of guy that has no patience at all for excuses. So if he says my hands aren’t very well suited for the guitar, then it has to be true. Now, I know the frets on a bass are a bit wider, but there’s no barre chords and a bit less gymnastics involved, I think. On a basic level, anyway. i bet most of the stuff Paul plays will be forever unattainable to me. I do, however, have a very steady rhythm, a good musical ear, and a desire to learn. So I might give it a bash sometime.

Here are some instruments.
Though the best instrument for small hands is the drums. You could have no hands and play them.

I just found out I’ll be teaching a 5 year old lad who was in Australia for the year (so missed out on his first year of Irish primary school) the Irish language for the summer. That should be fun, now I just need to find out what you actually learn in first year of primary school as I have no recollection whatsoever *goes and plays with márla/play dough*

Hoo boy, it has been hot here in Neckoland. Yesterday and today it was 90 degrees Fahrenheit (roughly 32.25 Celsius).
I'm Necko. I'm like Ringo except I wear necklaces.
I'm also ewe2 on weekends.

Somebody please distract me… I just found out half of the train connections to Pinkpop have been cancelled due to maintenance (during one of the busiest weekends of the year ) and the alternatives take about an hour longer. My head was already killing me, and I’m really starting to go barmy. It was already a hellish journey to begin with, and this makes it that much worse.
I swear, Paul better read my sign and give me that lift, because I definitely won’t be able to get home now.
