That is awesome @Mademoiselle Kitty >^..^< . There was a time my fav jacket had so many patches, pins and buttons that the sheer weight made it hard to dance 🙂 My daughter is going on a college graduation tour of Europe soon (10 cities in 30 days). I’m trying to find some Acda en de Munnik gear for her to wear in Amsterdam, but so far no luck.

I don’t think there’s a whole lot of Acda en De Munnik merchandise out there, @sigh butterfly. I’ll gladly try and see if i can locate some, though.

Have a great time @DrBeatle hiding from the world whilst enjoying having time to spend with the family. One of the best things you can do is get away from it all.

Tonight Scotland beat the Czech Republic 1 – 0 in one of the most pointless games of football ever played between two teams. I seriously doubt anyone from anywhere cared in any way over the match. Utterly meaningless in every conceivable way.

Thanks, @meanmistermustard! We got back last night and back at it today at work, but that was so good for my body and soul. I needed that…the only bad thing is now I’m already counting the days until I can have more time off! :-p

You got any free days lined up @DrBeatle? Good to hear you have at least to some degree recuperated.

No, she knows we’ll move to Munster (where the O’ Butterfly family originated) for at least six months sometime this decade so she’s gonna wait a bit. Her itinerary is Barcelona, Rome, Florence, Venice, Vienna, Prague, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris and London. At this point, I think she’ll be substituting Geneva for Brussels but we’ll see.

Munster in general is gorgeous, particularly Clare, Kerry and Cork. Enjoy it!

Vienna is lovely as well, my penpal studies there.

I hope she enjoys her trip but with those cities on the list, I’m 100% she will!

I received a wonderful email from a former co-worker in Maine who still works for the same company as I do. When she first started, I was the one who trained her and assisted her with her development. Anyway, the email was to let me know that she received a promotion and she wanted to thank me for all that I did to help her along the way.

She is incredibly sharp and deserves all the credit in the world, but how nice was it of her to reach out and thank me? Made me feel good and admittedly a bit proud. a-hard-days-night-john-1

Oh, she should go to the Prater in Vienna, and take a ride on the giant ferris wheel (Riesenrat). Incredible view from there. The Donauturm is great too, if it’s still there. And the ice cream at Schwedenplatz is to die for Best Italian ice cream in the world.

I know first hand how helpful you are to the newbies on the job. 🙂

I’ve been to most of those cities, but not Barcelona, Prague, or Geneva (I’ve been to another part of Switzerland). Paris is so beautiful. SB, has your your daughter been to Europe before?

Yes, but always chaperoned by her parents (she’s going with her best friend this time). She knows her way around an airport/train station and is

familiar with the street vendor antics. They both are very cerebral/academic by nature and have the activities for each day booked in advance

(plus a little free time of course). It cracks me up that of all the places they are going (major museums, concerts, castles, cultural attractions)

the most expensive activity is the deluxe Harry Potter Studio tour 😀

Thanks @Mademoiselle Kitty >^..^<, I’ll definitely mention your suggestions to her! What do you think about these t-shirts? I can have shirts made for about $20.00. Do you think folks would think these were cool in Amsterdam? She dresses pretty conservatively but I think she might wear one of these if I tell her about the group and play some songs (she loves music). I’d like to include the Niet of nooit geweest song title but the album cover might be a little busy for a t-shirt (the list of players kind of covers the last 2 words of the title). Any other design suggestions would be great 🙂

I’m taking a week off in August to go back home to Boston with the Mrs. and kiddos…stay with my parents, visit relatives, wife and I are seeing Billy Joel at Fenway Park…should be nice. Before then, only the federal holidays we all get off :). How about you, @meanmistermustard?

Billy Joel at Fenway. Nice. Maybe he will do “We Didn’t Start The Fire” for you. You can yell your Beatlemania head off when he sings “British Beatlemania”.

I love Barcelona too @trcanberra. Seeing all of the Gaudi sites was such a thrill…the Gothic Quarter with that amazing cathedral…the view from Tibidabo…the beaches…the weather…the food. I was served a tapa that is among the best 2 bites I have ever experienced. The translation was sea bass slider…it looked like a tiny blooming flower on a bit of crust with a sauce that was sprinkled like tiny rain drops over the top. It was so indescribably delicious that we enjoyed 6 orders. One night we were walking back to the hotel and we heard all of this commotion up the road. Suddenly the FC Barcelona charter bus appeared with all the players waving flags and banners out the windows. Folks were going absolutely Beatlemania -type nuts!  When people ask me for good starting point for discovering Europe, I always say Barcelona.heart
