We haven’t discussed the weather for a few minutes, sooo; the temperatures in Sydney were over 100 F today as the east cost is suffering through a late summer heat wave. We will be close to that temperature here for the next couple of days. Not enjoying it at all.

HKL tomorrow will go from a 16 C top in HK to 32 plus in Manila – she has been ditching her winter clothes in the charity bin as she won’t need any for a while since our fascist racist elitist Immigration decided she’s persona non grata in Australia just now.

Only a couple of hours left I go back to Manila I’m very excited my kids is waiting for me and they will pick me up at the airport,

I’m sooo blessed my employer they gave me a very nice necklace as a gift for my almost 4 years working of their family and I’m very happy they are really appreciated my job, I felt so sad with the kids I’m not leaving yet they miss me already

^ That’s accurate.

I am working on my yearly evaluation document. Blech. I love to work. I hate to write up what I did while working. I suppose I’m supposed to be a snooty, toot-your-own-horn person to have the job I have. As Ringo sings, “It don’t come easy…”

I seem to remember you saying almost the exact same thing last year. ahdn_george_06

In my life: we went ice-skating and I caught up with a friend I hadn’t seen in a while; then we went to the Guitar Center and I spent a blissful hour therein. The first one I picked up was a Gretsch Electromatic Pro Jet , very similar to the one George had during the very early Beatledays (which made an appearance on the cover of the Cloud 9 album). It sounded very Beatley. Then I tried a couple Fenders — those were nice, I liked them– and then this other one (I think it was a Schecter) which had horrible feedback. a-hard-days-night-ringo-13 And an Epiphone because I couldn’t reach the other Gretsches and couldn’t be bothered to actually find a salesperson and ask for help. Then I wandered over to the basses and what did I see but a Hofner violin bass right before me! Of course I had to try it. I played the bass riff of ‘Money’ before I realised that seeing as it was a Beatley bass, I should play a Beatley bass riff. So various noodlings later, I went and got a Fender Precision Bass like Roger Waters played and did ‘Money’ on that instead. I even tried to do the Roger Waters Slouch a-hard-days-night-john-6 and picked it way down towards the tailpiece for a more Pink Floydy sound. It was fun but the Precision Bass was a lot bigger than the Hofner– it had a wider neck and was a bit more of a stretch all round. I really appreciated that skinny little Hofner neck.

A couple Fenders later I wandered into the acoustic room in search of ukuleles. I found an itty bitty one which was very out of tune and also too small for my fingers (considering I’d just come off those big old basses not long before). So I picked up some bigger ones and they fit me better. I can now brag that I’ve played ‘Devil And The Deep Blue Sea’ on an actual uke. a-hard-days-night-john-1

Ahhh… sorry for the guitar-fiend word-vomit… @pepperland might enjoy reading it a-hard-days-night-john-6

Just a quick post to let everyone know that @HongKongLady (at left) is safely back in Manila and reunited with her two daughters and granddaughter. Her son (11 years old) was at school and unable to make it to the airport but the two girls (young ladies) took time off work to be there. There are some seriously happy smiles in the picture 🙂

@Beatlebug prouded boastly

[snippy snippy shake]

Sounds very cool, stuart-sutcliffeI’m going to do work experience in the local guitar shop but it’s pretty small compared to what you were in, methinks.

I have a Precision Bass so I guess I’m used to the stretch, though I’d love to try a Hofner. a-hard-days-night-paul-8

I’m at work at the minute and the regular secretary hasn’t showed up (I have no clue where is) so now I’m on the phones a-hard-days-night-paul-7, it would be all fine and dandy but I have nothing else to do bar be on the phones because there is no documents or appointments that I have to make (hence why I’m here).

That and the fact that all the callers want to talk to the boss who doesn’t take calls until he wants to call someone, so I have to take a message or they want to speak to the man who isn’t in today- a-hard-days-night-paul-11.

That and I just accidentally hung up on someone- a-hard-days-night-paul-10.

I finally decided on who am I going to vote for in the general election this Friday *yay*.

Pity he is against having election posters put up so he probably won’t get in due to lack of exposure but there’s hope.

Triple post apologies (somebody better post something slightly-relevant to the thread to make it look like I’m not taking over).

I’m going to Potterfest again this year (as is the annual tradition) in Galway and Hugh Mitchell is going to be there who played Colin Creevey in the 2nd film- isn’t that pretty cool? We also get some Starkid members (the ones who played Lupin and Hermione, ‘Hermione can’t draw, Hermione can’t draw, Hermione cannnnotttt draw, she only reads books and she cannot draw even if she’s reading a how-to-draw-book’. Lupin can’t sing, Lupin can’t, Lupin cannnootttt sing, he only reads books and he cannot sing even if he’s reading a how-to-sing book’).

And there is to be more Potter-related special guests released so I am very happy (and I get to go to the over-18 events this year, yaaassssss).

Shouldn’t it be over 17 since 17 is the age of majority in Harry Potter?
