Offline Our tourist visa application for @HongKongLady has been refused.
Life’s a bitch and then you die.
Not quite sure what to do next – I will be taking a short break from the boards while I think about options – I’m not feeling too sociable just now.
In the meantime HKL will be back with her family in Manila.
I’d say “Peace and Love” but it seems the powers that be have decided not to run with that just now.

Totally crap news, @trcanberra, @HongKongLady.
Don’t know what to say? This is where Australian immigration attitudes (which I think are pretty dreadful) become totally crappy, and interfere in people’s personal lives.
Is there an appeals process? Since you’re engaged, what would happen if you married overseas, and were looking to bring her into the country as your wife?
Hope you won’t take too much of a break.

Offline Soooo sad and very disappointing, I already felt this will be happened, because my working visa will finish soon and I’m not considered as a residents here in hong kong, they gave me a visa before because I come back hong kong and continue my job, this is a part of life but I never give up I try to be strong and I’m a fighter with all my trials I always face the problems and think about what is the solution, this coming Thursday I go to agency to find a new emolpoyer I hope I get a good employer, thank you soooo much for your all support and to my mi amor @trcanberra

Offline My mom won a vacation from a radio station. I’m going with her tomorrow to the radio station to pick the tickets up.
Also, I have long-overdue dental and eye appointments coming up. I’m a little nervous about the dentist appointment, because it’s been a full fourteen months since the last one and I haven’t exactly been nice to my teeth over the past year+.

Thanks, I think I’ve calmed down, a little.
No appeal, 18 months wait for a spouse visa. $9000 application fee, no refund if they are still full of S#$t and refuse it.
HKL will be taking a break in Manila while we regroup.

Declined because HKL is out of work basically, in spite of all the reasons why she should be able to visit.
Bullshit is the local term.

Offline Thanks for the expressions of support everyone.
We are just the victims, as alluded to by RN, of an anachronistic immigration policy which discriminates against prospective tourists from the third world.
Decisions are arbitrary and made without recourse to appeal by staff in an outsourced private sector company. In this case by a Chinese case worker in a country which holds Filipina workers in contempt.
All this with no regard to previous visa compliance or the fact that I hold an Australian Government security clearance and would have made sure we complied with the terms of any visa.
Anyway, we have to move forward. HKL will not be working in HK any more, she will spend some time fixing up her cute little house in Manila while we plan our next moves.
I can’t relocate overseas just yet; my son has just started his final year of school and I don’t want to disrupt his life more than last year’s divorce and house move already have.
