Our lights only flickered once. Honestly, I’ve been forgetting that its been snowing since like 2 in the afternoon and can’t tell if it’s snowing right now.

Offline Just got back from the vet. A neighbor’s dog got loose and bit my Friendly. 🙁
The vet shaved the area and cleaned it up. Now we have to entice Friendly to take the antibiotic pill.

Storm update: Jonas has left town, leaving 30 inches of snow behind. It hit us harder than anticipated when the storm turned north farther west than predicted. The snow we got was originally forecast to hit the Baltimore area, a few hours southeast of us. Storm data scanned earlier today revealed visibility distances at less then a mile for the entire length of the storm (stared snowing at 6PM on Friday, ended last night at around 9PM). Twice, visibility was only 200 feet. It was at these same times that the rate of snowfall was 3-4 inches per hour being blow around by wind gusts in excess of 25 MPH. It was as if several people were firing snow cannons in all different directions while giant oscillating fans blew it around. There was no distinct direction; it was blowing everywhere. This storm was historic for our area in every sense of the word – breaking the previous one-storm snowfall record by over half a foot. We personally came through it just fine as we did not loose power and sustained no property damage. Now for the cleanup… It’s gonna be a long day.

Giving a dog a pill can be quite the experience.
Glad you, Zag and Lily are all ok @Zig. Forget the clear up and enjoy the Sunday. Snow melts if you leave it alone.
All the best @trcanberra and @HongKongLady in the whole visa. Would be great if you could get three months together in Australia.

Offline The vet told us to pay attention to make sure Friendly could urinate because the bite went close to his urethra. He did his biz this morning so he is ok in that department thankfully. He has already been taking Deramaxx for his arthritis so he didn’t have to get any more pain meds. I think he will come through it all ok.

Offline Don’t know. It is a powerful, huge German Shepard. I haven’t talked to his owner since. I not really feeling like talking to her. Don’t know when I will again.
The thing is, Friendly really likes her. He goes over to greet her when she gets out of her car. I wonder if he will continue doing that now.

Went for a drive this morning. The sun has come out, and the countryside was a scintillating mess of glistening, dripping, ice-covered trees. Everything shone with the brilliance of cut glass, throwing off the winter sunlight like Micheal Jackson’s sequined glove.

Offline I once popped an archwire foolishly biting into an apple (lesson learned– don’t bite into unsliced apples with braces) and knocked off a bracket in a manner which remains a mystery to this day. Otherwise, I’ve been lucky so far.

Offline Oh, when I had braces the orthodontist was a trainee so she didn’t put enough glue on them. That meant that bits and pieces were constantly falling off and I was always being blamed for it.

I do 2 French classes, 2 Irish classes and 1 German. One of the Irish and French is free because it’s my mam’s friend’s son but the rest I all get paid for.
I charge €10-€15 less than the majority of other teachers so I’m a bargain really, although a lot of people who’ve rang me to inquire about my classes, discriminate against me because of my age. I got asked do I have a teaching degree before, I said “no but I’m a classroom assistant for German in my school and I teach other students in German, French and Irish who find me very beneficial and their grades have improved dramatically in class”. The woman replied “I see” and hung up on me….thanks for giving me a chance. Hope you enjoy paying €35 for someone with a “degree” who could be a s**t teacher 🙂
My German girl’s mam got told by the girl’s real German teacher that “she must be getting outside help because her German has improved so much”, well I walked around on clouds for the rest of the day when she told me that so I did 😀
