Wet wet wet rain rain rain my friends want me to meet them at Hong Kong island and we just stay the in the subway or under the bridge not to get wetTake a brolly – or a bucket.
It looks like everyone huddled under cover; this from yesterday is a typical Sunday in the rain in HK as all the domestic workers with their days off cover every square inch of dry ground. Most have sent all their spare money to their families (which is why they put up with the life in HK in the first place) so congregate anywhere the police and security guards will let them.

Some employer here in Hong Kong is really not good one of my friend yesterday she didn’t get her salary 6 days already late, she only have a $10 Hkd in her pocket I was feel sorry for here, She was very thankful to me because I treat her lunch and we went to McDonald for dinner, She reminds her employer about her salary but the employer just ignored her, I said we have a law here about the salary if the employer didn’t give you a salary 1 week already you can report to the police and the police will arrested them and they have to pay the penalty cost $5, 000 hkd

Yes she can if she cut her contract but she needs to pay $10, 000 hkd to the agent to find a new employer, break contract or terminate here in hk cost a lots of money to the agent, if you are finished contract you only pay 10% of your salary and easy to get a new employer

As HKL notes this is one of the few areas where foreign workers in HK are adequately protected. If she doesn’t get her pay in the next day or two the police will chase it up – makes it difficult for the lady in the meantime of course.

Good luck, @natureaker ! Here’s hoping your teeth won’t hurt too much… And have a virtual apple, which is probably the only sort of apple you’ll be able to eat for a couple days.

Well, hey I had a bit of an apple today! I don’t care what y’all think, I consider that an accomplishment (I tried eating a sliced one yesterday and almost broke down). Getting more adjusted today to the braces. Yesterday was supposed to be the worst day for the next two to two and a half years, luckily. I’m just happy my teeth don’t feel awful and I can actually eat without saying “Owww!” or “Never mind then…”
So yeah, that’s pretty much it. Nothing much happening. The nickname is basically gone, people still wanting to call me it, even though I tell them not to (but it’s only really one specific person, so all and all it isn’t that bad). And if it happens again, I got a few tricks up my sleeve

My job interview that was postponed due to “ill health” has been rescheduled for a week Tuesday. I had to phone them to get another date despite being told at the time they would call me. At least I have another.
And I have 6 shifts (5 shadow admittedly) over the next two weeks, which is double what I had over the last 6 weeks, where I currently am and a couple after that so its not too bad.

Got a 1st year (of secondary school, so 12-13 year old) lad for Irish class starting this Sunday. I’m so happy to have someone whose parents has spotted they need help early rather than leaving it to exam years where they won’t do as well (i.e. they’ll get a B, on a good day and if they actually learn/do the work I give them *frowns at my French students*).
Yay, I shall mould him into a mini-me, he shall be fabulous at Irish so he shall (if he does his work)!

I’ll make sure to put up a subtle George-poster in the background.
Get them while they’re young, I say.

Went and got my braces tightened… I feel yer pain @natureaker
My teeth feel locked, corseted, and chained. Don’t believe it when they say to you now ‘it can’t get no worse’– it can, when they put rubber bands on ye.

Lol, braces. It will be worth it when you get them off (I testify to it). But until then, you’ll have to be Paul for a few days and not eat any meat unless you want to put steak in a blender.
In my life…. It’s been rough lately despite having first-world problems. To be general, there’s a lot of favoritism going on and of course I’m not a “favorite,” so this person has a lot of fake puppies wrapped around their finger. This certain person feels jealous and threatened because I’m am the only one invested in a serious pursuing of music, knows how to “music,” and “musics” well, basically. It’s worse because this is a person who could be a mentor.
Positive: I’m going to have 2 voice teachers soon and my newest one teaches pop and jazz!
Is anyone one here one of those people on Tumblr who only posts pictures of the Beatles? If so, I need to follow you.

Still waiting to hear back from the job interview I had before Christmas – government agencies get so tied up in red tape doing recruitment. There were a LOT of applicants for them to write-up and then get approval from their managers – so I’m still hopeful.
I have had another few interviews sorted at other places for the coming weeks so it seems to be a better start to the new year as far as job prospects go.

To add to this week’s drama – HKL’s employer has been told that her casual job will be no more after Chinese New Year (about two weeks away).
They use that money to pay HKL’s meagre salary.
She asked HKL if she would mind finishing her contract early by mutual consent.
We are now applying for a 3 month tourist visa for HKL to come over here for a good long stay – if it is granted we will then work on more permanent arrangements consistent with the visa conditions. If all goes to plan she will fly to Manila first to visit her children and the rest of her family – her employer has to pay for this part of the trip under her work contract.
Wish us luck – this has all come upon us 3 months sooner than we expected – but it works for me
