And as for me, nothing much is going on. I went to the orthodontist yesterday, and scheduled my next appointment later this month. The reason I’m posting this here is because I’m getting braces on the 18th! I’m both terrified and excited, most people have just said sh*t about them and my orthodontist is telling me it “doesn’t hurt..” Okay, I’ll believe you (or not!) when I can eat normally
Don’t believe your orthodontist and Annadog40; it does hurt. Perhaps more for some cases than others, though.
But after the first week, you will find that it’s actually quite possible to live (and eat!) with braces. It’s not nearly as bad as most braces-afflicted make it out to be– we just like to grumble, as it makes us feel better.
I’ll welcome-to-the-club you on the 18th, and we can commiserate together.

Another one of my fascinating stories of past injuries, this time teeth related – i’m sure you’re all delighted.
One of the most painful things i’ve ever experienced was having one of my main front teeth (top right) forced back into my gum in hospital after it had came out having collidied with one of those massive fairground speakers following falling out of a ride when it was at the top. Someone found it and handed it to the ambulance people. I got a polo mint (thats right, one polo mint) afterwards. Led to many a tooth problem (not the polo mint), only ending with root canal treatment with a number of interns around me watching on. It’s hard to say no when you’re sitting in the chair and they’re waiting outside.

Well I think it depends on your pain tolerance what hurts for one might not hurt for another. You know your pain tolerance so you should be able to roughly gauge how much it should hurt.

When I got my braces put in my teeth felt fine for the first day but the next weren’t the best. Just have some aspirin or ibuprofen on hand and you’ll be fine. You’ll practically not notice them after a while.
I’ve got the first day of musical auditions tomorrow: dancing. And I don’t have any shoes other than my Chelsea boots and basketball shoes. And I don’t have anything other than various types of jeans as well. I doubt I’ll get cast
I also ordered some parts to upgrade my guitar like pickups and a pickguard which came in today and some potentiometers and such. And the pickguard is broken and the wrong colour
In addition to all of this I think that girl likes someone else a bit and isn’t that attracted to me so yeah. Also idk what to say to her XD
So there’s my little life update
Look its a thingy! A fiendish thingy!

Yep, same here. The day I got my braces on Silly Mum kept asking me, ‘How do your teeth feel? Do they hurt bad?’ and I was like But by the next day, I was on pea-soup.
For a few days it seemed my live revolved around Having Braces, but after that I was able to function normally again, which is a relief as I’ve got to put up with these things for two more years.
They get a bit sore every month when the arch-wires are tightened and/or changed out, but it’s nothing like the first week. (Except when I got the chain thing put on, that was actually worse, but I just plugged myself into the stereo with some George Arryson and I was fine )

Could it be that your expectations and what people were saying caused the braces to hurt slightly more?

Not really. I was able to forget about it between meals.
But another reason I was on pea-soup and smoothies for a week was because the way my teeth fit together, the metal things in the back kept coming together, while my teeth wouldn’t, so I couldn’t quite chew properly if I’d wanted to. I eventually got ’em thrashed down though.
I think I just had to adjust to having a mouthful of fiendish metal thingies.

I have a job interview next Thursday. Bank work, not working in a bank, you are on their list and if they need someone you get a call, so not guaranteed hours but would hopefully generate more experience. Still need a regular income tho so anyone want to give me a well paid job?

Above the UK National Minimum wage. If someone wants to pay me £54 an hour for a nice comfortable job with no stress I wont say no.

Have you considered a career in anvil repair? How stressful can that be?
Best of luck at the interview.

Hey guys! I’m still alive although I can say barely, I’ve been cringing all over my previous posts on this forum. One regrets having access to the internet at a younger age. Same old thing happening everyday to be honest I’m just hoping that next semester is hopefully going to be my last.
